  1. I think he's a reliever at this point in his career. Fastball is straight as an arrow and only sits 92-93 and not 95-97. IMHO he's the Brewers long man next year. Or maybe 6th or 7th inning guy.
  2. I spoke to a friend who is a scout in the Angels organization. He recently saw Lopez and said he looks like a young Yovani Gallardo, but with more potential as he is not yet filled out like Gallardo was at this age. Said he thinks Lopez could be a 93-97 guy instead of 92-95. That means top of the rotation potential. Still needs that third pitch, though, to get tough MLB lefties out. He should definitely break the Baseball America top 75 after this season.
  3. I honestly would not be worried about the catcher position. The Brewers are not likely to compete again until 2017 at the earliest. If we do not have a young MLB ready catcher at that time I would not be completely opposed to spending some cash on someone passable. Especially if we have stud hitters in the OF and in the middle infield. What I would be worried about is pitching. This team needs to develop some top of the rotation talent. Right now, Hader and Medeiros are the only two guys in the organization with that type of talent. If the Brewers fail to develop some top tier pitching we will be headed right back down the Marcum for Lowrie and back up the truck full of prospects for Greinke path.
  4. Offense scores 4 runs... pitching promptly chalks up 2.... What a nightmare. These guys are making Ichiro look like he's returned to 2004 form.
  5. Probably depends on whether or not they want to start his MLB clock.
  6. Was not aware Jerome Williams was still in the bigs much less starting. That WHIP is brutal.
  7. Brewers are now 5-0 versus the Phillies. Sadly, I do not think the Brewers are getting the #1 pick next summer. The Phillies offense is something worse than just offensive. Putrid, bad, embarassing....yuck...
  8. And dont forget, we are likely to see some big trades this winter. Maybe Lucroy, maybe Braun, maybe Paralta, maybe Segura, maybe Lind, maybe Khris Davis. Plus we will have a top pick and an early 2nd round pick in a really deep summer 2016 draft. If the crew can add 3 or 4 more top 100 prospects by trade or draft they will have 7-10 total and will make the system top 3 in all of baseball. Things will not happen fast. But as others have said 2017-2018 should look different. My big concern is the consistent lack of an ace. Maybe just maybe Hader is that guy.
  9. It's criminal how little was accomplished with that much talent. Disagree. Gallardo is the only front line pitcher on that list, and he was always more of a 2 or 3 than an elite ace type guy. It is criminal that the Brewers have failed to produce an ace level pitcher since the injury plagued Ben Sheets in the late 90/early 2000's. They had tons of top picks in the 00-07 range and failed to grab a future ace. Instead, they were forced to make the Greinke and Marcum trades because of the pitching problems.
  10. He's a very expensive long man, but he's actually looked ok in that role. The roster expands to 40 in September, so there really is no reason not to just let him pitch out his contract in that role and eat some innings. With all these young starters in our rotation there are bound to be some short starts. I also would not be shocked it they put him on waivers and end up finding a team to take him as a long man and take on a fraction of his remaining salary. I just wouldn't expect much in the way of a return.
  11. He looks like a cross between Chris Sale and Madison Bumgarner. Nasty Stuff. If his velocity stays in the 95 range we might have an ace on our hands.
  12. I agree. But Where? He cant hack it at 3b. Pull Lind and play him at 1b? Pull Khris Davis and put him in LF? Put Davis in center and take time away from Peterson?
  13. Too bad they didn't DFA Gomez a week ago and claim Danny Valencia. Jason Rogers is not awful but it is also clear that he is not part of the plans for the future.
  14. Looks like a change of scenery type trade. Buncha bad contracts.
  15. +1. You would think if the Brewers wanted one of the stros 3b's they would have nabbed one in the Gomez trade.
  16. Moran is almost 23 years old and has developed little to no power. I have no interest in him at 3b. However, JD Davis could be a stud. He's put up 17 bombs and a .359 OBP at A+ this year. I doubt, however, that Davis will sniff the top 100 as he has struck out 130 times in 450 PA's. That's about 1/4 of the time, which is concerning at A+. AA next year will say alot about his future. I would think about a Lind for Davis trade, but I would like want 1 or 2 more lower minors guys as well.
  17. Disagree. Its one thing to have a second baseman with no power or a utility infielder with no power, or a catcher with no power. Its another thing to have a starting OF'er with zero power. Some have said they like him as a 4th OF'er. I disagree with that as well. Typically, you want your extra OF'ers to have some power to come off the bench late and try to tie a game with one swing, or be excellent/fast defenders to be a late inning defensive replacement. As for the Cirillo comparison. Cirillo was a 10-15 HR guy between his 25 and 31 year old seasons and hit about 40 doubles a year. Peterson is a tweener. He's Scott Podsednik without the speed. That said, I'm happy hes getting a chance and I hope he proves us wrong.
  18. Love the high average and love the high obp. Don't love the lack of power or speed. There are few advantages to having a bad team, but giving guys like Peterson a chance is one of them.
  19. Pitched 5 shutout innings last night. 1 hit and 9 K's. Nice...... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2015_08_04_blxaax_mobaax_1&t=g_box&did=milb&sid=t5015
  20. +1 on this. Ramirez is off the books, Broxton is off the books, Parra is off the books, Gomez is off the books, and after this year Lohse comes off the books. Rodriguez, Garza, Braun, and Lucroy are really the only three big contracts left, and I wouldn't be shocked if Krod and Lucroy are traded this winter. In fact, my mind wouldn't even be blown if they eat some cash and trade Braun for a couple prospects. 2016 is going to be a nightmare, but if/when they want to compete in 2017 they should have enough money to fill a couple positions with FA's. I'm never a fan of giving big contracts to FA's but it might be necessary to fill 2 or 3 position.
  21. Wow. Gotta think this is a problem. I understand wanting to win but I am no longer a fan of Lucroy. Shut your mouth and hit. Hopefully he hits in the second half and Melvin can send him packing this winter.
  22. He's trying to fit right in. Looks completely lost.
  23. I truly believe that in order to fully rebuild this franchise, Lucroy and Peralta will need to be traded. The Gomez and Parra trades were great and have once again made the farm system relevant by adding 4-5 guys who will likely have an impact at the MLB level in the next 2-3 years. A top draft pick in 2016 will also help. However, if the Brewers want to compete with the cards and the cubs I believe both Lucroy and Peralta will need to be dealt. The system needs some impact pitching and insurance against some inevitable busts. If done right, Lucroy and Peralta trades could get the Brewers another 3-4 top 100 prospects. Such a haul would put this franchise back where they were in 2006. That is, on the verge of another 5-6 year window.
  24. Whats the over-under on Brewers runs scored? 2? I'll take the under. And another step towards a top 5 2016 pick.
  25. Hector Gomez can't hold Valencia's jock strap. With Elian Hererra on the roster hopefully H. Gomez can be jettisoned.
