  1. Must win? I roll my eyes every time I see that muttered, so overused. I’d consider it perfectly fine if we exit this Cardinals series losing no ground. Guess it depends on what the Phillies do on Thursday when we are idle.
  2. Except the Indians have never really drawn a crowd. They drew barely over 2mil the year after they almost won the World Series and a pathetic 1.6mil the year of that world series.
  3. You are assuming Adames would sign a 4 year deal. I am not sure that is feasible, he is a little far in arbitration to be putting himself in a bad situation to get a FA contract. If he hits FA at 29 he is looking at a mega contract if he continues to be a Top 10 SS in baseball. Even a drop off and he could do better. Adames could be looking at a 7/8 years at mega money. If he signs an extension he isn't getting mega money now or when he hits FA at 31. Usually guys sign contracts pre-FA that still allow that mega payday. The entire point of Woodruff is because we can realistically sign him to a small/shorter deal. I don't see that happening with Adames. He is like Burnes. An extension might as well be his last contract he ever signs.
  4. Yah, the Dish is literally still on the roof from a previous owner and the long cable cord still attached to it running down and into the house. I figured I could do exactly as you did and just attach an antenna to the base from the dish. I imagine I could still get AirTV and utilize it for TVs that don't have direct hookups near them? My 'mancave' has two hookups, but neither is anywhere near where my TVs are/will be. For the life of me I have no idea why they put them where they are...just dumb. It wouldn't be that hard to add some, but I have enough wire and walls to mess around with.
  5. I figured out the rain downside of the indoor antenna pretty quick. NBC got a little shotty when it started raining a decent amount, but it still played pretty well. Though...my rain was probably nowhere near what you are referring to. Guessing mine would crap out for NBC at that point. I guess I can't complain regardless. The NBC tower is 55 miles away and my antenna is not pointing that direction at all. It does make me rethink the AirTV concept though if rain is that problematic. Realistically I already have a cable running to the roof for a Dish...so doing a rooftop antenna wouldn't actually be that inconvenient for me to do. That being said my significant other probably needs some dumb channel not on sling so my cheap plan will probably be foiled once she moves in. Eventually I will have to ask her for her non-negotiable....channels.?
  6. They can't sign both, that is just out of the question. You would be pushing $70mil or so committed to 3 guys. You would be right the prospects have proved nothing, but they are the future and our success pretty much depends on those guys. If they fail no amount of keeping Woodruff/Adames will even matter. This is no different than years ago when our future success was hinging on the likes of Peralta/Woodruff/Burnes to break out and stay that way. So yah, the prospects may all flop...but at that point nothing will matter much as we will be in a full blown rebuild. Adames is an elite player, I am not debating that. However, offensively, he is not elite purely just looking at his offensive stats. Adames is at risk of finishing the season with an OBP under .300. He just isn't a massive force in the lineup. It is even more notable when you consider his position. If his defense declines or he switches positions...he just becomes that much less valuable. We just watched Wong's defense go into a dumpster at 30-31. No one really wants Wong for one year at under $10mil...then we should have no business signing Adames to $100mil+ that will largely cover the years we just had Wong at. We only have 5 pitching prospects in our Top 30 from MLB.com. Two at AAA that are back of the rotation type guys, one is a bullpen flamethrower, and the other two are at #19 and #20 in A+ ball. Houser/Lauer are getting expensive and only have two years of control remaining. We simply don't have the reinforcements in the minors to fill all those rotational spots. So you would have to go spend Chacin/Garza type money to hopefully go find a #3 starter to compliment Peralta/Ashby. If you think about it, if we have to go the FA route, those guys are going to be just as old as Woodruff.
  7. I think the Brewers can afford to sign Woodruff or Adames from a prospect standpoint (by losing out on the players they would get in return). Just trade the other two with a year remaining on their deal or more. That being said, I would instantly start a mini rebuild and load the offense up with all our prospects that are ready so they can hopefully start being a solid force come 2024-2025. You want the team strong as that big extension kicks in, not scuffling through a rebuild of sorts. The minor leagues are a pretty good wasteland of pitching for us right now. If we lose both Burnes and Woodruff, what are you going to do? Go sign a Matt Garza to fill out your rotation with a reliable arm? If you can get Woodruff for near $20mil, hardly that much more money. Woodruff/Peralta/Ashby should be a real nice trio to lead a rotation for years. Could take a chance our offensive prospects can make an impact. And again...you could still score big on Williams/Burnes/Adames. I just don't like the thought of extending Adames. Offense does not look to be a weakness going forward with all the offensive prospects. He is elite for his position, yes. However, from a lineup standpoint he isn't an elite impact bat. Fangraphs has Kolten Wong over him (both right around #60 in MLB). If Adames defense declines, he really isn't worth some big massive deal. Stearns has quite an endless amount of ways he could go about the next 2 years. What he does with all these guys approaching free agency will be pretty defining 10 years from now.
  8. They didn't score a touchdown there because they underthrew/overran the ball. On another note, from a competitive/success point of view, I am guessing Badgers fans aren't going to enjoy being in the Big Ten for football once divisions go away. Not that the Badgers weren't good the last 10-20 years, but they definitely got to inflate their win total and got the benefit of waltzing into the championship game so much without much competition.
  9. Okay....we aren't in that bad of shape.
  10. I don't have any statistics, but feels like ace level pitchers tend to fair better into their 30s. Seems like a lot of guys are still elite at 34-35. Of course, you could always end up like Jake Arrieta. But the following is a list of pretty old dudes throwing at an elite level right now. All are 34+ Kershaw Scherzer Verlander Darvish Wainwright
  11. The Phillies just got done playing a likely 90+ win team for two games and what is possibly a 100+ win team the Braves. Now they get to go play crummy teams. Honestly, we should not even be in this situation. We could have used bullpen help before we traded Hader...then we traded him and didn't really do much to replace him. The last month the bullpen has really let us down on numerous occasions, some of which they were handed the ball with a decent lead.

  13. The Brewers really blew a golden opportunity yesterday. That was the last of the Phillies playing a team with anything to play for. Now they play total garbage teams and then face the Astros who will have the #1 seed clinched well beforehand and likely resting guys to some degree. HOWEVER: 1) The Brewers schedule is light too 2)The Brewers will be at home, where they have been better. 3) The Phillies, who have been stellar at home, will be entirely on the road. In my opinion, the Brewers blew their chance. Expecting the Phillies to go 5-5 against a bunch of teams that care nothing about winning regular season games and 2/3 are garbage on top of that...good luck. If that is what you are depending on, pack your bag for the offseason.

  15. If you can get him for $20mil a year it is worth considering. Though it is important to note Castillo has a very attainable vesting option ($25mil) if he throws 180 innings in the last year of the deal. Woodruff is probably my favorite Brewer, but I would probably let him walk over giving him a big deal...but that is just me. That being said I would much rather give Woodruff $20mil versus Burnes at $30mil.
  16. I mean I don't care, because it is consistent...I just think the entire explanation is really stretching the reality.
  17. Brady must have been thinking about his wife when he basically took two delay of games in a row at the biggest point in the game.
  18. Unless the refs are looking through a straw they should have enough peripheral vision to look at a clock and see a ball snapped or not. It’s just silly because they know they explanation is garbage. They are just giving leeway to be nice and not have so many delay of game penalties every game. That is why the amount of time given is less now, they just clamped down a bit on it.
  19. ??? What does that have to do with my comment. I’m just saying it is a dumb explanation. Whether it is Rodgers, Brady, or the NY Jets.
  20. Are we forgetting our team needs to recover the kick…hardly a sure thing with this organization.
  21. The whole delay of game explanation is so comically stupid. He has to look at the clock and then look towards the ball? Come on. That is like saying a 1st base ump needs to watch the ball hit the glove and then look down to see if the foot hit.
  22. 4th down would be interesting just because then they definitely could do either.
  23. LET THEM SCORE AT THIS POINT
