  1. I have gone no cord and no stream for the last 6 months after march madness. However, now that college basketball is back upon us I am itching to go back to streaming. I really just need the $35 Sling that includes ESPN channels because that will cover nearly all Kansas games for me. However, I decided to try an indoor antenna to get CBS (to get the off Kansas game that is national TV there) and to get some of the other local channels for NFL games. It was rather sucky and I just can’t figure out how to get a decent broadcast out of it. Now yes, my expectations are realistic…I don’t expect worlds best signal. However, I literally live a few miles from quite a few of the towers (Wausau) and can see them blinking out my window. I mean, jeez, it can possibly get much better minus climbing the tower and attaching the antenna to it.
  2. Oh it’s far from over, but they have a huge advantage. Of course those percentages don’t take into the chances of a tie…which is more than possible.
  3. That’s great, one could find many examples of guys totally bombing with way better lines than that too. Could he be good right out of the gate, possible…more likely that isn’t the case. But I’d keep Wong regardless of the expectations of Turang.
  4. First off who? Secondly, I don’t get your point regardless because Wong has the 3rd highest OPS on the team. Seems pretty good for a DH. Just writing him up as a platoon guy is quite an assumption. Sure, his splits aren’t the greatest this year…but historically they aren’t that bad. That’s like assuming Peterson is about to have even splits moving forward. Probably not going to happen.
  5. So a sub .700 OPS? Yah, that’s the problem.
  6. Wait....I just looked up Turang's stats. Why are bending over backwards to figure out how to dump Wong for Turang at 2B? .765 OPS in AAA isn't anything to be ashamed of...but like, Wong has an OPS just as high hitting MLB pitching.
  7. They face a bunch of teams with nothing to play for. The only positive is they play the Dodgers before the last two series where they might really start punting games to give guys rest etc. Anything can happen over a few weeks time...but their schedule is a cake walk and many of those players are going to be thinking about the offseason with every passing day. I doubt we catch them and the Phillies end the season worse at the same time. Notable if they choke...but their odds of almost 90% probably make them a safe bet.
  8. I mean there is a DH spot open. We spent $8.5mil hoping Andrew McCutchen could hit to a mid .700s OPS. I am pretty confident Kolton Wong could do that next year. I am not sure how much better you could expect to get out of the DH spot for $8mil. This is assuming they really don't like Hiura and he won't fill the DH spot next year. Which, honestly, might be the most likely outcome. In the event Turang mightily struggles it is going to be way easier to shift Wong to 2B and fill the DH role. If you let go of Wong and Turang struggles....well, that's a black hole. Personally I think the best route to give opportunity to prospects and maximizing our ability to compete next year: 2B: Turang DH: Wong LF: Yelich CF: Mitchell/Frelick RF: Renfroe Odds are Mitchell/Frelick and Turang aren't both going to just tear the cover off the ball. Not impossible, but realistically it is 10x more likely both suck if anything. Once one of those two just aren't hitting shift guys around. You definitely could let two of the younger guys take starting roles while holding onto Wong. Then in 2024 the OF really can open up with Renfroe gone and Yelich likely going to 1B/DH.
  9. My interest in baseball has really tanked since RSNs got dumped off streaming services (I don't even have a streaming service anymore) and then COVID happened. Add in Stearn's questionable running of the team and trading away Hader with little attempt to even improve this team at the deadline...yah not helping the cause. I fully expect this offseason to be an absolute dumpster fire. Woodruff/Burnes nearing FA and little budget to work with. Probably more likely they trade an ace versus make some major improvements. Hopefully the Brewers give us something to look forward to going into 2023...but they have limited resources to work with unless they want to sell a chunk of the farm.
  10. Kolton Wong is still ranked #11 for offensive production among 2B per Fangraphs. I don't know, good luck replacing his offense at 2B. A lot of value being able to get a guy at a modest price for just a single year. Not to mention his style of offense helps the Brewers lineup more than just his numbers show on paper.

  12. At the end of the day, his bad stretch with the Padres is meaningless. He is back to pitching lights out heading into October and that is what they got him for.
  13. All this makes me think of is the Barry Bonds HR and how the guy gave the world options to help pick what he was going to do with it...and one option was to shoot it into space. This would have been even more glorious.
  14. Jace Peterson isn't a starter though. Of course he is going to outplay the stat lines of guys who are out there batting 400-500 times. Jace Peterson won't even have 300 ABs. Without doing a ton of digging Jace Peterson pretty much hit to his ceiling this year. He got the advantage of facing lefties less than he did in 2021 and he also hit into luck against them by going way over his career splits. To get a 2-year deal and especially one averaging over $5mil a year a team will have to really love the versatility and want a left-handed bat for a platoon. Peterson/Wong may have similar offensive output this year, but Wong has to face LHP over 2x as often as Jace does. that is the difference between a starter and bench/platoon player.
  15. That definitely was not me. Sure...we could trade Woodruff, Adames, Tellez, Williams and role with a bunch of pre-arby top prospects. The majority will likely be total flops and chances are zero of them get near their ceiling. So yes, you could fit in Burnes at that point, but you will have some pretty large issues moving forward. Well, the reality is they either don't think they can afford him while still fielding a competitive team or don't want to extend him at all. That really is your only explanation for never asking him about an extension. We saw the same thing with Hader. 2018 the payroll was low, no large long term contracts, arbitration was in good shape then and the short term future. The financial outlook was also much better before COVID happened and now attendance struggles.
  16. I purchased a vehicle out of state what feels like about two months ago (from MA). Now I have bought a vehicle from a bordering WI state and it is just like from WI...you just get a temp plate day of purchase. Well for this 1,500 mile purchase I guess that isn't an option. I have to wait for them to use a 3rd party to do the titling/plate and have that all sent to the dealer before I can pick up the vehicle or ship it. Well, FINALLY Wisconsin titled the vehicle and now I wait for the plates to get sent to this MA dealer so i can either fly to get the vehicle or ship it to me. I knew this going into it it, but it is so dumb how complicated and lengthy this process has to be.
  17. Jace Peterson doesn't hold a candlestick to those guy in track record, PAs a year, and he Peterson is way more of a platoon needy guy than them. Maybe his versatility gets him two years...but I would be a little surprised. I guess I would take Wong and less versatility for $8mil over Peterson for $4mil. I doubt the Brewers can find a better use of $8mil on a one year deal...but they may cut bait and hope they can.
  18. I really doubt Jace Peterson is any more expensive than he is now. He is old and his stats are only decent because he doesn't have to face lefties. I really doubt he gets a multi-year deal and if he does it will be some really peasant amount like 2/$6mil.
  19. Well, again, there really isn't any option because they extended Yelich. I would guess a team friendly deal for Burnes would be about the same yearly average as Yelich, which is $26mil. We just can't afford that...unless you want to do what I mentioned before and be a sub .500 team. Because filling the rest of the roster at that point is going to be mission impossible. I'm guessing the Brewers would have floated the idea had Yelich never signed an extension...or maybe not. They may not be interested dropping massive money on a pitcher regardless.
  20. Sir, you need to go back and reread what I posted. You must have really skimmed or something...because everything you are saying is like you barely read more than a few selected words. "#2 Woodruff might have made sense a year or two ago. Maybe we could have found common ground to get something a bit more team friendly that didn't require paying him till 37+. But I just can't see any situation where it would make sense for the Brewers now. Woodruff will be in his age 32 season after arbitration years. If you approached him I imagine he would want at least 6 years on a contract extension (that gets rid of remaining arby). I just don't see that worth the Brewers time just to have him in his mid 30s. He may be effective that long....many guys are, but that's a big risk. You would be throwing $50mil+ at Yelich/Woodruff in their mid 30s."
  21. #1 They flat out can't afford Burnes. So whatever happens is pretty irrelevant on that front. It is just beyond reasonably realistic to think they could. Unless Burnes wants to take a hometown discount with a salary of about $20mil it just logistically can't work. Unless you want to watch a team lose 85+ games with Yelich and Burnes as the only two notable names. #2 Woodruff might have made sense a year or two ago. Maybe we could have found common ground to get something a bit more team friendly that didn't require paying him till 37+. 22. I mean, I don't see why they couldn't. It is $500k less than what they are paying him this year. I am sure we are set for an absolute massive arbitration bill, but we are losing a ton of money off the books. Hader and Cain not being on the team is $25mil by itself. McCutchen is another $8.5mil. Probably save money at catcher and might be the end of Suter. Yah, a lot of arbitration cases...but we don't have many holes to fill either and means we aren't losing a ton of meaningful pieces. Giving Wong (or some other guy) $8mil makes sense on a tight budget. It is a one year thing and then drops off. What I wouldn't expect is us running out and signing a guy to $8mil+ a year on a big multiyear contract.
  23. Home prices lately have been interesting to watch. I have heard some places the market has died and reducing prices has becomes common...but that seems like larger metro areas. In my part of Wisconsin things are still going pretty strong...especially sub $300k. Looking at sales in my town, still most going for $10k+ over asking. I know one person who just listed in their city. Very average and small 2 bedroom house got an offer $10k over asking in a few days and too many showings to even try to count. I don't know, high increases in price and interest rates still haven't stopped people from aggressively shopping. Even inflation hasn't scared people off. People keep clamoring for the moment home prices fall tens of thousands, I just don't see it. Not without a bad recession. People said it two years ago that they would just wait. Well they waited...and now they have even worse prices and high interest rates. I am kinda on the boat where prices might plateau and get stagnant...but not sure I see homes losing 10% or more of their value. If they haven't done it yet...can't imagine it will happen.
  24. It is (no joke) a GFCI outlet on a post.
  25. This is going to be a hard one to predict, I could see them going either direction. Brewers are pretty frugal though and I have a tough time seeing them pay Wong $8mil. Turang has a lot of potential in just about every facet of the game and has had a really solid year in AAA. I think they end up rolling the dice on him and save the money. That being said I would and think it is potentially possible they will keep him around for versatility on the roster. Consider him 2023 McCutchen. They really don't have anything better to spend that money on, so might as well keep him as he is reliable. Unless you think it will be worth spending that money on a catcher or want to make a big splash to help 3B, Wong is likely the best way to spend the money. Think I would roll the dice with Mitchell/Yelich/Taylor/Renfroe in the OF. 3B can be Urias/Brosseau. The DH can just be a revolving door that could include Turang/Mitchell/Hiura/Wong/whatever. A lot of it has to do with what they hypothetically do if they go with Turang. Are they improving a different position on the field...pitching? Mitchell/Turang both having major rolls next year would be a massive risk. Especially if catcher is random fodder and Urias is your bulk guy at 3B.
