  1. It was just a joke, you aren't fossilized, just old. Not sure the Reds are blowing it that bad. They aren't playing well, but not like they lost 6 in a row. The Yankees are the team absolutely crapping the bed. They were in the first place WC spot with a 4.5 game lead a week ago. They have lost SIX games in a row and now only lead by a half game in the second WC spot. The Toronto Blue Jay have won 8 straight to come storming back into the race.
  2. Former Cub Mike Montgomery threw a huge temper tantrum...I guess because the ump warned him about the 12 second pitch clock. He threw a rosin bag at the ump. The music makes it all the funnier.
  3. This is the official answer. It is when the lakes start to exponentially explode and the farm fields dramatically decrease. Highway 29 is a popular option just because it is a more notable highway and easier to know/explain. Also partially because that is when you lose the last large cities in the state. For Chicago/Milwaukee area people it is what snapper said, Madison. When I lived by Milwaukee going to the Dells was up north to many of them and I found out people in that area like to have their up nort cabins in Adams-Friendship. Not sure what it is for Madison people. All the people I have known from the Madison area are transplants from farther north.
  4. No, Jeter most definitely did not help that ball get there any faster. I would say he slowed it down...and by quite a bit. His flip was really no faster than the ball was coming in and there is a huge pause when he has to grab it. The one thing it did do was give the catcher an easy ball to receive instead of digging the ball out of the ground on some weird bounce/roll.
  5. The only logical thing I can take from that is if he felt the team was too stupid to do pre-snap motion without a million false starts or messing up the play. Not sure why else you would intentionally avoid motion.
  6. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds/about The general Fangraphs model is based on projections. They have one that looks at it in a backwards view Then their is a coin flip one that is just random.
  7. Fangraphs has it at Dodgers: 52.9% Giants: 47.1% Their expected win/lose is just .1 win more. Seems about right.
  8. That's surprising. You have to figure that the Brewers are technically the best shot to go from the NL if you could only pick one team right now. The Giants and Dodgers will probably have to play eachother - so how do you pick one of those teams? And the AL is pretty balanced also. So I'm thinking the Brewers should be the best odds to win the WS if you had to pick one team today, even though they won't be favored in the series vs the NL West or probably against the AL team. The Dodgers are still favored to win their division and that is a big reason our odds are still half of theirs. It doesn't just take the standings as they are and assume the Dodgers as the WC. If the Dodgers do end up as the WC their odds to win the world series would likely plummet off the 21% they are now.
  9. The crowd in Pit:
  10. I actually booked my rooms for all the possible World Series situations. Thank you free reservation, cancel up to day prior, and special rate.
  11. Hopefully they can clinch it in their own game. Though looking at the schedules the Brewers could very well clinch mid game…at home. That would be…an interesting atmosphere.
  12. Both Garcia and Omar were terrible last season and now are valuable pieces. Bradley has been horrible but assuming he picks up his option I’m sure the Brewers will try to see if he can right the ship next season. I get bringing him back, with a short leash and I don’t mind if they do…but somehow he has managed to be so bad all year that just dumping him is an honest route to go.
  13. Brewers should dump JBJ after the season, just put us out of our misery. He has been an absolute pile of garbage from start to finish. A .369 OPS the last 28 days…I mean…lol. Much like Schoop, just acknowledge it was terrible.
  14. Two garbage ABs in a row and not only do we not get anymore runs, but now we start the 2nd with the pitcher.
  15. Guessing the White Sox would be the AL team to cause price to go way up, simply due to opposing team interest. Not sure any other team is likely to really travel to Milwaukee, the rest are a ways away. Earlier series tickets usually cost less, but since any fan not fossilizing hasn't seen a Brewers World Series I am guessing that will fuel any early games they hold. $800 might not be a bad guess. The Indians would have been a decent price comp had they not played the Cubs, who caused their home games to be way inflated cost wise. On the flip side I would bet NLDS/NLCS tickets if/when they happen will be much cheaper than past postseason runs.
  16. That second fumble was about as brutal as it gets. I thought Mertz finally had a game defining moment with the great connection to Davis for 8 yards on 3 and 7....then proceeded to instantly blow it on the one yard line. They were about to have their first of four running attempts to take the lead with little time left, instead he chucked the ball on the ground. Then PC wasted a down trying to run from the 7, barely missed Dunn for a TD, and then threw the ball right to Penn State.
  17. The Cubs did not fade down the stretch in 2018. They were 16-12 in September and 11-6 September 12 onward and 4-1 to end the season. The 2019 Cubs did blow all four tires at the end of 2019, but it wasn't due to rain make-ups. Their schedule was just like that. Actually, baseball reference shows the Cubs did not have a single rain postponement all of 2019. I only quickly cross-checked September, but they played true to what was scheduled. They had a day off in the midst of that losing streak (23rd) and their other September off day was the 4th. 2018 was the year they had a few rain make-ups towards the end of the year: -August 28 suspended, made up as DH next day -August 30th off day canceled to make a game up. -September 7th postponed till next day for DH -September 9th postponed till September 13th. This one sucked as they had to play at Milwaukee, go to DC the next day, and then the day after that go to Cincy. Basically between August 21th and the end of the season they had a single planned off day on September 20th. Still, it is incredibly misleading to say they only had one off day as they had numerous postponements that rested their pen just fine. It was more like a few DHs and some inconveniences. The Brewers simply just went invincible to win the division.
  18. Graham Mertz was the only problem. You can tell me you can't just blame one player, but then the performance by Mertz is as close as it gets. Any other QB in college football and we win nicely. The only other thing I can think of is the secondary giving up way too many bombs...but hey, only gave up 16 points so really hard to harp on the defense that bad.
  19. I am a little surprised PC has totally given up on the jet sweep, just cause it was about the only sliver of non-vanilla play calling he had consistently (yes I do realize he called it a few times). Heck he used to do those double sweeps a few years back. He doesn't have an elite back anymore, but he also doesn't have Aaron Cruickshank either. The wife mentioned he was often on the receiving end of those plays...I can't recall, but it makes sense. I can't say I really miss it, other than it bringing some diversity to the play calling. In the Jonathan Taylor days it didn't seem to be that successful. At least not to outweigh the negatives where it gets stuffed and destroys an entire drive. That may be why it is not called as often. This team really can't afford negative plays that cause long 3rd downs or really long 2nd downs. While personnel helps, it isn't everything. Are teams not going to sell out on our run anyway? Why would you not load the box when we constantly run it up the middle, our QB sucks, and we rarely attempt medium to long passes? At the end of the day they are still a run first team.
