  1. Could be worse, you could have bought a Samsung.
  2. You could nitpick forever who contributed to what extent in 2018. Davies wasn't strong in 2018, but was in 2017/2019 (and 2020 after we dumped him). And no...the contributors really weren't that old. Of the eight main contributors on offense 5/8 were under 30. 2/3 of the older guys weren't huge offensive forces (Pina/Braun). Cain was the only really old guy who was really good offensively. Yah, they were some older guys who were contributors...that is pretty much a given. Any team is going to have older guys and transactions that made it good. Stearns had a stellar situation after 2018. Unfortunately the demise of Aguilar/Shaw hurt a bit long term. Without that controllable offense he has failed quite a bit making a decent offense outside of his Moustakas/Grandal moves in 2019...but obviously that wasn't the long term fix needed. His long term fix attempts have been pretty questionable. He has yet to improve SS in all his years here (Urias is just as bad until proven otherwise), Garcia was a strange move that is totally flopping, and even Wong isn't really known for providing above average offense. I am not ready to really roll Stearns over the coals. His last two off-season's don't seem to be overly impressive, but I am not sure if he really could have done better the 2019 offseason and this past offseason I thought it was pretty good for the circumstances. If this year goes rough I would certainly start to question him a bit...but we aren't even two weeks into April.
  3. Exactly why they went out and got a veteran 4th OFer who has historically given fairly competent offense+defense.
  4. Isn’t that kind of the dream? Get some amazing food or menu item named after you? It is like getting something on the periodic table named after you, you are a legend forever.
  5. Because he ended a 60 game season on a hot streak. Last year was incredibly flukey and you basically could change the story line of your year as a hitter in the last three days. His OPS was .666 after 57 games. Then he had a homer and a 4/4 day to inflate his OPS to .734. Which sadly for Arcia, still would have been his best offense in years before the hot streak I suppose.
  6. Not sure how you can be concerned about Hiura, but not Yelich at all. Both tanked offensively starting in that 60 game clown show. Yah, I’d have way more confidence Yelich bounces back, but I’m concerned about both...but I was concerned before 20 ABs this year, just for the record.
  7. I hate anything that requires me to gather quotes or shop around. Trying to find the right mix of quality, customer service, and decent price seems impossible. I contacted a company for a concrete patio install and while they get good reviews the price was in line with including gold flakes in the concrete. Then I need to replace windows and suddenly get 3 calls a day from four different people at the same company to set up an in person quote. Why must it be so complicated?
  8. if this is NOT bugging you, I would hate to see what is *casually moves to bugging you post*
  9. Who? What do you mean, who? He was loaded with controllable talent. Yelich, Hader, Woodruff, Davies, Burnes, Peralta, Knebel...plus more. He had a huge chunk of that team that was controllable and 25-26 age range. If you upped that to age 28 you would be covering a large majority of the contributors. He had quite a few decent prospects in the minors at the time on the verge of MLB time (Hiura/Grisham/Williams). It certainly was not an “all in” type year in 2018...far from it. It is certainly questionable if they end up worse for the third year in a row post 2018. But again...it’s a bit early to assume that will happen...way too early.
  10. I mean, isn’t that what every pitcher tries to do? I’m sure it is like being known as a HR hitter. Being a K pitcher Peralta is going to be gunning to rack up Ks.
  11. 1/10th is a bit harsh. Personally, I think Gallardo was more of a pitcher and Freddy has more arm talent (i.e. a thrower). Over the years, we have seen Freddy grow as a pitcher. Struggled in the pen a few years ago... decent in the pen last year... now I'm hoping that he can command a few more pitches than just the FB he can start trusting his stuff and put together a decent starter. Not sure Peralta even commands his FB all that well. Better than his other pitches, but still gives the vibe of a guy trying to throw 100mph and doesn’t care much (or can’t control) about where it ends up. I don’t mind giving him a shot (I think he deserves it), but he is so far off from commanding his pitches to be a great starter.

  13. Every year I try to get on the Freddy Peralta optimism bus, but I just can’t stay on long. As a starter I just don’t see it. Even when pitching well he is usually serving up too many walks or having too long of ABs where he can’t go long. It’s like Yovani Gallardo except 1/10th the talent and the fact modern day pitchers don’t throw 110+ pitches so he never ends up deep in games.
  14. When he locates it well. He has some good pitches, but when he fails to locate them or he overthrows them...yikes. Finds himself throwing BP really quick.
  15. Does he though? He has had a few nice signs (Gio and Miley), but outside of that it hasn't been overly successful. His prized guys from last offseason (Lindblom and Lauer) have been horrendous to date. Burnes was in his first draft so hard to know how much he should even be credited for that. Devin Williams, Adrian Houser, Brandon Woodruff, Brent Suter, and Josh Hader are all guys who were here before he became the GM. I am not trying to hate on his ability to build a pitching staff, it just doesn't seem like he has not done an overly impressive job.
  16. We traded Orlando Arcia, not Corbin Burnes. It is safe to say you should assume anyone we get probably has a 1% chance of being a useful player. Not sure I would be scared of any Braves prospects in a trade like this. The return is going to be "meh" no matter who you are dealing with.
  17. They may not be paying for it but it does get subtracted as an expense from their royalties in the TV contract. Even if the Brewers are not able to broadcast games they should be doing some live streaming of other content to bring in more revenue. Live stream practice or something and interview players. Follow a group of players around once a week. Do something or anything really the sport is dying when it comes to younger viewers. I don't think it means much to the Brewers bottom line, but I do think the likes of Bally are hurting themselves. They are stuck in a transition knowing the old model sucked, but have no idea how to actually get with modern times. I am not optimistic their future streaming option with betting is any better.
  18. I think Stearns and Counsell communicate enough that something like this is impossible. How can communication be so bad the GM gets so bothered by a managers use of a player that he has to ship them out of town? I just can't fathom that. The former could certainly be true though.
  19. Really? We don't even know what we have yet in Urias. Anyone can be your undoing. Urias can't be any worse offensively than Arcia, so I doubt the effect is as detrimental as you think. I was admittedly an Urias fan when that trade happened knowing this was the downside, but if he cannot develop some power on the ball, he absolutely could be worse than Arcia at the plate. I still have some hope but so far he's shown that he is worse than Arcia in his first 430 MLB plate appearances. Luis Urias is worse on both sides of the ball compared to Orlando Arcia. Difference is Arcia has zero potential to unlock as a Brewers...Urias you can at least dream. I wasn't and still am not a Urias fan for the lack of power. It honestly felt like we went out and got a younger version of Arcia with slightly worse defense (not that Urias is bad defensively). BUT, I will say he at least has potential to dream on.
  20. Young or old I don't think you are going to get anything more intriguing than the guys we got. It is Orlando Arcia...you aren't going to get someone in the lower minors that has lots of potential. Guys like Arcia are endless and not exactly something super rare to go and try to acquire.
  21. Yup, there it is. MLB level guys, though neither has a ton of experience. Both are monsters on the mound (height wise) and Sobotka is a high K guy. Actually a decent return if either can be useful for a few seasons as a reliever...considering Arcia amassed like 2 WAR in his entire career so far
  22. This would be the last thing I would guess.
  23. Don’t really care what the return is. Impossible to be disappointing when Arcia has been arguably the worst everyday MLB player (offensively) for years. Too bad Luis Urias has been just as bad, if not worse, in his limited playing time.
