  1. Where am I defending the system that gives the Dodgers such an advantage? Im sure this isn’t the end of the circus and thus, quite a bit of instability remains. At least enough unknown we probably are going to play it a bit safe financially. Getting to share revenue with a bunch of other doo doo markets is so irrelevant. Until the Yankees/Dodgers/etc. are in that pot we are not any better off. Pointing to this as a step towards that is a big hypothetical. It would almost surely take a lock out and likely a very long one to make that happen. Not only that, but then you’d have to figure out how you would even come to a mutual conclusion when the Dodgers are very blatantly signing stupid contracts so the next wrinkle is how you suddenly institute revenue sharing/cap in 2034-2043 when Ohtani’s contract is actually paid out. That entire hypothetical is one heck of a mess. If the small markets don’t die on that hill in the upcoming CBA I don’t know that it will really ever happen. Regardless they need to figure out the TV stuff. It feels like it has been a constant half decade of playing ‘how and where to watch baseball on my TV’ roulette.
  2. 1) RSNs were largely dominated by smaller markets. Look at the list of current MLB ran teams and the new ones joining it. We don’t need to close the revenue gap with those teams. I actually greatly disagree we had the least to lose. RSNs sucked, but they also gave financial stability and long term contracts. For teams working with smaller margins, that is a pretty important thing to have . Especially if we are shelling out contracts longer than 2 years. 2) This is probably the only hope…that this is so terrible for a chunk of teams it pushes change. The problem though is this news is probably phenomenal for 10 teams minimum and another 5-10 it is probably a wash. Not sure you could get the votes to create a lockout.
  3. Yah, I doubt this is much of a win in the grand scheme. At least from a financial standpoint for the franchise. It’s like celebrating getting $100 of unemployment after losing your job. I guess that is better than $0…but idk if we should go around popping confetti. Were blackouts even a problem anymore for Brewers fans? In market fans could buy the subscription and out of staters either had the same option or MLB.tv?
  4. I really wasn’t a big fan of trading Peralta…but this is definitely a trade you happily ship him off for. Not that he is bad, but I am shocked we actually got this kind of haul for him. Rentals just aren’t worth what they used to be. Two MLB ready prospects with pretty good upside.
  5. I am pretty sure MLF is only around because they are scared of ruffling the feathers of the players When your franchise QB and star defensive player you backed up the dump truck to get both very publically support him, seems the locker room would not be very supportive of any change. They surely aren’t keeping him for his gameday performance.
  6. Much like Rodgers double Hail Mary, Williams TD throw goes down in meaningless history.
  7. Yup, another year where I will have zero interest attending a MLB game. Not even a legitimate league at this point.
  8. Being competitive will always be more important. I don’t think Brewer fans have ever really cared that much for clinging to certain players to that degree. The last two franchise players they made both became glass and Braun even had the bonus PED scandal. Peralta isn’t even that big of a fan favorite. Actually, they already brought back the preferred fan favorite pitcher (Woodruff).
  9. lol, lemme know when MLF and Love are gone. Might have a chance at a playoff win then.
  10. MLF and Love ain’t it. MLF constantly running the ball up the middle to waste a down when time is beyond a concern for the Bears and a TD clinches it. Love with a delay of game out of a timeout. That is what losers are made out of.
  11. They aren’t toast. That might have been the case 10 years ago, but not in today’s NFL. QB play is way too mediocre today for any game to not be winnable. If they make adjustments and figure it out fast enough, I think the defense is still respectable. The offense isn’t that special, but I still think it has enough competency to score enough points to beat anyone. Surely there odds aren’t any worse than the Brewers chances every year…and people think they have a chance. I don’t think our downfall will end up because Parsons was gone. More like a mix of losing Kraft/Watson and MLF existing. Offense is just a bigger problem…and was before yesterday, imo.
  12. No, no even close. The offense was still incredibly suspect and arguably…not that great. And also…I think the NFL is pretty mediocre going forward, so hard to be that upset. Today’s QB are trash.
  13. Packers had arguably a Top 5 defense last year too.
  14. Got too cute and blew up in their face.
  15. Look, I get it was a horrid spot…but seems like a wasteful challenge in tue grand scheme. I get the odds we challenge again twice is low…but thus, kinda silly.
  16. How does the ref miss that?
  17. Brewers fans: Mark Attanasio is so cheap and never spends money. #Selltheteam *spends money on fan favorite player* Brewers fans: WHAT AN OVERPAY! INJURED! WASTE OF MONEY!
  18. Not often talked about, the Brewers have zero financial ties to the area. It’s a huge negotiation tactic any time a new stadium deal is needed. They could literally get up and leave with no issue. That is a different story if you pour $750mil into the land around it. That space isn’t downtown where you could probably offload it to recoup any costs. It all becomes awkward real estate that no one would want.
  19. They don’t and probably won’t. Parking is a low risk cash cow and doesn’t require tens of millions in buildings. All of which carry various levels of risk. There are many stadium districts that have seen success, but they are mostly (all?) in downtown areas. AmFam is on an island surrounded by a lot of garbage. It could be feasible and could work out, but I don’t think it is obvious…and spending tens of millions on it doesn’t make much sense for these investors when there are better opportunities elsewhere.
  20. You are comparing 1/$22mil and 3/$40mil, but they aren’t technically a bird in each hand. The qualifying offer would be declined a month plus before any multi year deal has ink dries on paper. Also, that was a pretty quick opt-out concept I threw out there…I wouldn’t take the number to heart too much. Now of course, you could make the claim that even after declining the QO his worst case is like 1/$18mil if he wanted to take a one year deal and even if the year is a disaster he could trick a team into 1/$10m at least one more time (assuming he ends 2026 healthy)…so even in a nightmare case he can make another $28mil in his career. That is an understandable way to look at it. And that’s probably why the QO gets declined as there is virtually zero risk in doing so. There is enough upside some team will toss close to $20mil at him that he has little reason not to explore his market.
  21. Eagles trying everything in their power to try and lose.
  22. Yah, MLF is cooked. Why would you rush a 4th down and for that play? Call a timeout and settle for a FG as the end goal if need be. Embarrassing. Most important play of the game and you do that.
