  1. Well hopefully a way for these RSNs to be on streaming services comes sooner or later, if not I will just have better things to do all summer. I am fine looking at box scores, going to some games, and then catching nationally televised games.
  2. I was looking at a vehicle to buy at a dealer and they use 'live market pricing' for their used vehicles. I was about to go look at it and the night before the price rose $2k. I get the concept of market pricing, but absolutely no one had looked at the vehicle the week prior (the mileage was the same as the day it was listed). They then go and raise the price $2k just because their market price software said to? They sent me an email after a few days asking if I needed anything and I told them I wasn't interested at the new price. They basically said okay and closed my file of interest at the dealership. I am sure that way of pricing must work in the long run (why else would they do it), but I can't say I will ever consider their dealership again. Maybe I will wait for 'live market pricing' to make my trade-in appreciate $2k
  3. Can't find the link, but saw MLB posted it on Facebook. NL Central: 1) Brewers 89-73 2) Cubs 85-77 3) Cardinals 81-81 4) Reds 79-83 5) Pirates 61-101 Their record is projected 7th in baseball behind: Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Padres, Astros, and Twins
  4. Kyle Lohse was great for 2/3 years. I will take that any day for a FA signing...especially the guys we are often signing. Most of the time that is what people are hoping for. Justin Turner good for 2/3 years and then an albatross for the final year? Yah, I am betting nearly everyone on the forum would be running to make that deal. Of course you could point out the negatives...but we essentially picked up Gyrko after he was with the Cards. That one worked out well last year.
  5. Probably the fact he is worse than Ryan Braun at 3B.
  6. It has nothing to do with his age, potential, or how good he can be. A .400 BABIP is not realistic. It isn’t even close to what any player can do consistently, period. Elite is .350 range or more. A crazy elite year (that no one does consistently) would be around .375. Outside of Tim Anderson the last two years I couldn’t find a single player in recent history with a BABIP above .375 in consecutive years. Trout did it way back in 2013/2014. No one hits for a BABIP that high
  7. Often times offense = game taking longer. But it’s a no win situation. More offense may be more enjoyable to casual fans, but then you also are lengthening the game too. Something not so good. Any other sport can add offense to make it more fun without really changing the length of the actual game. Baseball can’t really do that.
  8. Sure a guy could do it...and I said many should hit around average. Anything below .335 would go into my book as pretty much average. Once you start getting up and over .340 then we are talking above league average. At least in a notable sense. There aren’t many black holes OBP wise. Garcia, Arcia, Urias, and Narvaez would be the only super worrisome ones. Though I am a bit optimistic Narvaez can rebound to some extent. I’m just saying I don’t think it is much of a strength. Seems closer to league average as a whole. Though obviously guys can perform well both ways to change that one way or the other. Oddly I forgot Garcia was that decent at getting on base last year. Considering most of his career is .300 or worse. Of course he had little to no power so it wasn’t much of a gain. I’d guess he may flip back to career norms, provide some pop and not have much for OBP skills.
  9. Yikes, I would hate to be so pessimistic that it is "super optimistic" to think Hiura will have an OBP above .325 Did I say that, no. I said Yelich and Wong are the only guys that should confidently be notably over league average. For Hiura to be in the same conversation OBP-wise he would have to hit .260-.270. If he is less than that he is likely floating around league average OBP. I expect him to be around a .250 average unless he dramatically reduces his K rate. Thus, probably around average OBP.
  10. It’s not like the team is super OBP heavy. Most of the guys are likely to float around league average or worse. Wong and Yelich are the only guys I’d be confident of being over league average by a notable amount (league average is about .325). Cain could, but he really wasn’t in 2019 and is two years older now. Narvaez could be a great OBP guy if he rebounded...but jeez he was bad last year. Maybe Hiura if you are super optimistic on a big rebound? It’s not like OBP is a likely weakness, but not sure it is really a strength either. I’d guess the current makeup of the team would be close to league average in OBP regards.
  11. That simply isn't true. This team's starting RF hit 20 HRs in his last full season in 2019, and the team's starting catcher hit 22 that year. You may not be happy with what Garcia and Narvaez looked like last year, but to not call them legit power threats is simply incorrect. 3/6 of Garcia’s previous six years he has a sub .700 OPS, one at .719, one just under .800, and his 2017 career year that is obviously an outlier. He may hit 15-20 homers, but his OPS for most of his career has floated around .700. Omar Narvaez is not a reliable power option and you could have said that even before last year. He simply doesn’t have a long track record of providing power numbers. He had 7 homers his entire MiLB career. Maybe he can provide some power, maybe not. Catchers can be real finicky year to year. Sorry I should have clarified, a power hitter that can also hold a decent OPS too...that you can also reliably expect power from. As it stands the power on this team is pretty questionable. Narvaez/Garcia could provide some pop/higher OPS...but easily could be busts again.
  12. Tampa Bay has some annoying dudes, but it isn’t like the Chiefs didn’t have a list of lame players too. One of their biggest stars is Tyreek Hill and after their coaches situation days before the Super Bowl I can’t say I’m sad the Chiefs got absolutely destroyed yesterday.
  13. Guessing, regardless of who they get for 3B, they want someone with power. Right now we have power in LF and 1B. The rest of the team is pretty light hitting. No way do I see them throwing Urias at 3rd. We need to find another bat that might help score runs without requiring three hits in a row to make it happen. I don’t mind not being power dependent...but the current team is really lacking in the power department.
  14. I am guessing the Brewers would be a more likely bidder if his market died and he had to take 1-2 years. Much like when they tossed big money at Grandal.
  15. Just took the interview to make his future resume look better.
  16. Helps this is his age 30 season. With Ozuna you can bank on having some of his peak left and a good chance he produces the entire deal. When you sign a guy like Cain the deal is a big question mark before the ink even dries. With Cain you sign him hoping he gives 3 decent years and 2 competent ones...however it could have started off a disaster right away. There is risk with Ozuna, but many reasons he got this kind of deal. He probably could have taken a 1 year deal and if he repeated his .900 area OPS he would be looking at a $100mil+ deal. This could end up a steal for the Braves.
  17. The reference to opening day was simply a reference to it approaching soon...at least in my email. 20 game fans choice gets dibs after all pre set SSHs have tickets. For that reason a fans choice holder may have no opportunity or a tough opportunity to get opening day or some other premium game tickets. I am guessing the presale will work like the postseason and regardless of tickets on account you will get up to four or whatever it is. For that reason it’s safe to say the general public will probably have zero shot at opening day tickets without going to the secondary market.
  18. Braves banking on his potential. He had a huge year prior to the Cards trading for him.
  19. I feel like I could field an entire 26 man roster of guys Briggs used this quote for.
  20. I really don’t think this deal is bad at all for the Dodgers. A huge long term deal would have been $30mil+ a year. So for $10mil extra the basically get to take away any long term risk and any age risk. And of course they have a huge payroll to do it.
  21. Not sure what your definition of a “decent prospect” is, but Arcia is pretty worthless. I think a team would take him off our hands and maybe turn him into a utility guy...but good chance no one would take him for free. Even Urias, if we tried to trade him the return would be pretty depressing if I had to guess.
  22. If there are 15k tickets I’m guessing SSHs would have a solid potential to eat up all the tickets. If the demand to go to games is high enough.
  23. The two games I went to last year, both mid day on weekdays, were pretty packed.
  24. Braun probably waiting to see if we sign Turner or not. If not, Braun comes back to play 3rd.
  25. I always found it odd that Atlanta is farther west than Detroit yet Atlanta is considered as an "east coast" city and Detroit is considered a "midwest" one. Atlanta is about 175 miles from the ocean and it’s state has a huge part of the coastline. 3.5 hour drive to ocean. Detroit is about 500 miles from the ocean, it doesn’t border the ocean, any state it borders doesn’t touch the ocean, and any state bordering the states it borders doesn’t touch the ocean. Nearly 10 hours to get to ocean.
