  1. Oh the sad percentage of the population that says that...oh the humanity.
  2. My favorite: “Tough lose for the Brewers tonight, but we will get them tomorrow.”
  3. I did, read the first post I made.
  4. 2019 WAR: Seager: 2.4 bWAR, 2.9 fWAR (in 106 games/442 PA's) = .006 WAR/PA Moustakas: 3.2 WAR, 2.8 fWAR (in 143 games/584 PA's) = .005 WAR/PA So what you are telling me is they are maybe comparable? That would be exactly why I would have just paid Moustakas, who is certainly less risky of the two..and can also play 1B/2B as an added bonus. Seager has posted a .750+ OPS in any given month exactly once in the last two years. If someone wants to get Seager for $15mil a year and still give up a bag of balls (or more) they can have him. Last Three Years: Moustakas - 2.6 WAR average (BRef) Seager - 1.96 WAR average (BRef)
  5. This is a rebound? April - Did Not Play May- .214 BA / .517 OPS ( 7 games) June - .219 BA / .744 OPS July - .220 BA / .683 OPS August - .323 BA / 1.116 OPS September - .202 BA / .675 Pretty much his entire year was inflated due to his August. Not really a rebound if you ask me. I will take a hard pass unless he is nearly free. No way I am paying him $14mil a year, yuck. I would have just paid Moustakas at that rate.
  6. I think it is possible to acquire a starting caliber 1B and/or 3B via trade without dealing Hader. Especially 1B. I have no doubt that they have multiple directions and options to fill those spots. It could be that they have free agent offers out there, and are waiting for decisions to come down before moving on to Plan B or C. Also, I very much doubt there were any 3B or 1B prospects available in the Rule 5 that the team felt comfortable handing a starting spot to on what they continue to say will be a contending team. Who was advocating handing a starting position to any Rule 5 pick? In the case of Ramos, who I would have chosen, you bring him to spring training and see if he can produce. If he can great, if not send him back and your out a few thousand. It's a gamble. Just like the Lindblom signing, DS is gambling that he can produce like he did in Korea. The difference is Lindblom is a $9 million bet, a Rule 5 pick is a 100 thousand wager. To be honest, I would have selected both Ramos and Santana, signed a vet like Frazier and go to spring training with a soft plan to have Frazier start with Santana as back up at 3rd. Ramos and Braun to platoon at 1st. If they don't pan out, there is still plenty of options. As far as the Hader comment, I would support a trade of Hader, selling high, but I don't want to give him away either. Other GM's will look at the holes on this team and think we NEED to trade him and it undercuts our position. With Frazier, Ramos and Santana, at least the team would have looked to be in a stronger position to demand more. It's all optics! You were certainly inferring it was a possibility of some sort. Almost like it was a major possibility and the most likely way to fill the position.
  7. Y’all sound like you got some things bugging you, & what not these days. Y’all need to relax.
  8. Yup, no need wasting breath on it. Simply never happening.
  9. I think you definitely want a MLB piece back that you are confident will plug in somewhere (and produce), but the entire thing doesn’t need to be and not even the main piece. Remember that Lucroy trade? Zero of the those players made an impact here and all were traded off for help in postseason runs. Cordell got Swarzak, Ortiz got Schoop (gag), and Brinson got Yelich. I mean we could trade for prospects and flip them tomorrow. I think people are way to focused on centering a trade entirely (or almost) made up of MLB player (or MLB ready).
  10. Using pre 2019 ranks is kinda silly. Someone like Lux dramatically increased his value.
  11. Guy knows nothing, he just regurgitates other people’s rumors. I don’t know the original rumor, but that’s all he is doing...reposting it. Sounds like Ken Rosenthal squashed it just now on MLB Network though.
  12. Haha agreed, but it also shows how lopsided that trade is. Seager is still controlled at pretty cheap arby costs for two years, Lux is a HUGE prospect, and May...well, I don't know a ton about May. I think May was a pretty decent pitching prospect though. I think people are really trying to ignore the cost of Hader. Hader will be a expensive reliever after this year...pushing $10mil in 2021 and by 2023...who knows maybe in excess of $15mil. And if he doesn't stay elite he may not even last with the Dodgers 4 years. You can always hope for a major overpay, but I won't sit here expecting it. I am not really a Seager fan, but he is probably a realistic centerpiece, plus a few other intriguing prospects. Maybe May could be the centerpiece if they are willing to part with him. Lux? Wishful thinking, incredibly unlikely, but not impossible I suppose. I would bet on him staying in all honesty. I would expect Stearns to either have someone back up a dump truck or keep him. Fair market value would be depressing to a lot of people here.
  13. Hmm who was it the Brewers had? Gilbert Lara. Lara can't hold the jock strap of Dominguez.
  14. Just for fun I played with the trade simulator to see what a fair trade for Seager/Lux/May would be: Brewers Get: 204.10 Lux May Seager Dodgers Get : 197.60 Hader Urias Yelich So I guess not too bad, we just have to sweeten the pot with that extra player.
  15. Seager, Lux, and May?? I like to dream, but that is even too much for me. That isn't a "bit too much", that is just plain unreasonable. I think people are dreaming to just want Lux for Hader straight up...I bet the Dodgers would say no to that let alone that 3 player fleecing. I am not a big fan of the trade value site generally speaking, but Hader isn't even worth one of those guys let alone all three according to it (I think the site overhypes all of their prospect values). Regardless it has: Brewers Get : 204.10 (Seager, Lux, and May) Dodgers Get: 71.59 (Hader and Urias)
  16. Stearns should be fired and have all of his stuff thrown onto the street if he tries filling a position with a Rule 5 pick when we are a competing team.
  17. Yeah I would love Jasson Dominguez. I think some people limit themselves to only wanting MLB ready talent back, which I think is a mistake. Even if you don't want to wait on someone like Dominguez, he could pretty easily be one of the more premiere trade chips in baseball at this time next year. Dude is well into the Top 100 prospects in baseball and hasn't swung a bat in an actual league yet. If he starts hitting he will fly up boards so fast. He could be the next phenom. Maybe not, but no one in entire system is anywhere near the same league as far as tools/potential.
  18. I don't really get the negativity with the Yankees as a trade partner. Andujar is fine player and I also don't get the negativity to their system. Jasson Dominguez specifically could be a monster, like better than anyone currently on this team someday minus Yelich. Seems they have plenty of pieces.
  19. Take his past stats and chuck them in the nearest dumpster. He isn't even the same guy anymore.
  20. If he gets traded it will be the Yankees. They likely have the motivation to make their super team even better and I just can't fathom the Dodgers. If we weren't competing it wouldn't matter, but helping the biggest threat in the NL is really dumb/unlikely. We would have to really feel like we are getting the better end of that deal.
  21. Not to fly off topic, but I think the Brewers could dish out a 7/$200mil contract to Yelich (or such a contract in 2023) if they wanted...that would probably be about as high they could reasonably go though and I think deferrals would be needed. That would be about $29mil annually. Defer the same percentage as the Braun contract ($34mil deferred then) and that drops it about $5mil annually and a ten year repayment is about $3.5mil a year after that. Not saying I would do it (I would not), but I think it would have a similar impact on the payroll as Braun's did/does.
  22. I am on my third item from Black Friday week being cancelled. This one was in stock on the website for days after I bought it, then went to "limited stock" for a few days, and after about a week total finally went out of stock. Now, a solid 2 weeks later, it is cancelled. Sigh, this one is especially annoying because I could have easily just got it in store without too much of a hassle. However, shipping to store and picking up was much easier away from the craze of the holiday sale shopping. Think I may pass black Friday shopping in the future.
  23. If I was making bold predictions I’d say Lindblom will be the second best starter we had going into the season with when we look back at the end of the year. Why? Lots of off-speed offerings that includes a splitter. Batters will be very unfamiliar with him and I think he has a chance to have an incredible year before he comes back down to earth a bit. Much like Guerra did and many other pitchers experience.
  24. Is there not something better and/or more reliable than those guys? Walker pretty much hasn’t pitched for two years...are we still living off his prospect status from half a decade ago? Porcello will give to 30+ starts, but he wasn’t good last year or even the year before that OR even the year before that. Are we still living off his Cy Young year? I don’t hate Porcello, but I feel we need something we can depend on being more than a #5 starter.
  25. It has already come out they plan to use him as a starter. The only way he doesn’t start to open the year is injury or total epic implosion in spring training. Both of which would happen after most FAs/Trades have happened and a meaningful alternative won’t really be able. So yah, you can pretty much pencil him into the rotation barring something drastic. If there was any question or open mindedness it wouldn’t have come out instantly that he is expected to start. I am sure it was told to him that way too and exactly why he took a really low contract loaded with incentives. On the same note they came out and labeled Houser as a starter for next year too so there is only one rotation spot in question these days (Woodruff, Lauer, Lindblom, and Houser all in). Like I said I have no problem with the deal, but he is certainly very very likely to be a starter. And please don’t jumble a response to my comment with the doomsday crowd...cause I’m not a doomsdayer. Just pointing out one could dislike the move and does have risk associated with it. And just for additional clarification I DO NOT dislike the move, but I can acknowledge how it can carry some risk to the 2020 team.
