  1. I’d much rather just pay Ryu or Bumgarner. Why mess with an older Keuchel? Sounds like another Lohse/Garza. Let’s shoot a bit higher for once.
  2. McCarthy just got done struggling in a mini clown show. I don’t think he needs a full on clown show.
  3. Ummm did he even touch the receiver, let alone a PI.
  4. Wisconsin will get the Rose Bowl vs. Oregon. So for future reference it appears going to the championship game trumps all else in a tight race.
  5. Thats hilarious and sad at the same time. Against the reigning special teams player of the week too.
  6. Dude has broken our punt record for the season 3/3 times.
  7. The semi final games are already blowouts. What do you think would happen expanding to eight? That is the problem. Too many would end up blowouts where it would probably make the opening round a slight joke.
  8. I could see LSU jumping to #1. I’d lean towards not, but could happen. I’d like the Rose Bowl, but I fully expect the Rose Bowl to prefer Penn State. It’s really a tossup though.
  9. Maybe if the Top 8 teams would actually look worthy: #4 got destroyed by #2 #5 dismantled by #13 #6 barely beat out #7, we will see how #6 does against #1 #8 could only play half a game against #1 We just don’t get those huge snubs to really get that conversation going.
  10. Our defense just isn’t good enough. Ohio State is just too good and our DBs are simply not going to keep up with them. Our only hope was to bend and not break...they did that for half the game, but it was tough to expect them to do it enough to keep the game within reach for our offense. Our offense can’t go 80 yards all day on every drive. They just can’t. We have played really well in all honesty...just isn’t enough without some big help from Ohio St
  11. Someone start playing the small violin, reality is coming. Can our offense really keep up? Can they?
  12. I don’t think so, as mentioned before the Rose Bowl can pick whoever they want at this point if we lose. The rankings won’t matter a lick as we will be so closely ranked with Penn State. A win clinches it, a lose is a total crapshoot whether we lose by 1 point or 21. That makes it a total judgement call for the Rose Bowl talking heads.
  13. One hell of a way to go into half.
  14. Not that our kicker is any good, but I’m guessing they would like a shot at 17-7 and not an INT in the end zone. 30 yards is a long way to be throwing reliably.
  15. Well, bummer. Guess you can’t complain leading at halftime, but they had some golden opportunities to have it even better than that. Guess we will see if they can continue moving the ball in the second half. The defense is going to start bending a lot more. We need to put up points.
  16. Good drive just to not go three and out. At least we push Ohio St back a bit...no 40 yard field. Turns that fumble into something positive.
  17. Pretty much our key to putting up points...long drives. Our defense isn’t going to get many quick stops to give us a short field. We will have to piece together 70+ yards scoring drives to put up enough points. Great start, hopefully we can avoid bad turnovers that could turn the table quick.
  18. I believe this is the only time Ohio State has been down at the end of the first quarter (or later).
  19. Probably didn’t really matter. Doubt Wisconsin risks a short field to OSU.
  20. Well, exactly what they needed on defense. I believe I said it earlier in the thread, but their only hope to slow down their offense is drive killing sacks that put them at those 3 and 18 type downs. I’m not sure it will continue (probably not), but great start to give some hope!
  21. Yah, not trying to start a Braun debate, just pointing out we have done quite a bit when there was a large sum of dead money compared to production. .780 OPS outfielders aren’t hard to find...especially if defense isn’t a concern. So as far as 2018 went Braun was pretty “empty” on the payroll.
  22. We had Ryan Braun provide below average defense, .780 OPS, won a division, and got to Game 7 of the NLCS. So yes, in fact, we can afford an empty $20mil spot on the payroll. He has deferrals, but said FA could be the same concept. Or you could look at the deferrals of other players (Ramirez/Garza) with Braun’s salary and see $20mil or so of money not really providing much.
  23. So the money conscious Rays are going to trade a decently priced starter (cheap for his level of performance, at times) for a reliever who is go to be crazy expensive for a reliever after this year? I don’t know if that really makes sense. The Rays had a 62 million dollar payroll in 2019. When you only have 60+ million for 40 players and a minimum salary of 600,000k, is it easier to fit an elite reliever making 6-8 million, or a starting pitcher making 11-12?? The starter. Can’t ignore the fact Snell is a sure bet to be worth his salary...about as sure as it can get. Hader is a relief pitcher and they are fickle. A $60mil payroll can absolutely not afford a reliever to pull a $8mil+ salary to not be worth every penny plus a lot more (referring to Hader past 2020). The Brewers are already looking to move Hader due to costs because of his salary in the future and the Brewers could have a payroll double $60mil. How do you think the Rays would feel if they had Hader?
  24. Guys sometimes you just gotta realize someone is on the other end of the spectrum with their opinion and you just gotta say “OK, Boomer” and move on.
