  1. As nice as Grandal's year was a few things concern me. It was heavily buoyed by an increased walk rate...can that actually be consistent? If he comes back down to earth that is a huge hit to his value. Cain had that happen this year. He also had the same slugging percentage in 2019 as 2018 even though he went to a better ballpark. To me that was a little disappointing that his only increase in offensive production was taking some additional walks. I don't think he gets 4 years from anyone and if they do, have fun, hopefully not us.
  2. College Basketball came up fast...guess I need to renew my blood pressure medication. Though I don't think Kansas plays a real game after Duke until Christmas due to a pretty weak non conference schedule this year. So I guess I got that going for me. I like the Badgers team this year. I think overall it does better than last year because they will have to play a lot more team basketball. I was never really a fan of how much they ran through Ethan Happ.
  3. Ha....so true. Half the time teams are treating players like trash and intentionally being worse in a given year just to get an extra year of control/avoid Super 2. It is really a non issue. If it was someone in the Houston organization would have came out by now to say something about his comments. The biggest douche move in this case (and all similar ones) is the reporter who has to ask him about free agency 10 minutes after losing Game 7 of the World Series.
  4. LeVeon Bell claims both the Packers and Steelers tried to get him at the deadline.
  5. Thanks, I remember that site. The royal retro jersey was worn just as much as the white home uniform.
  6. Because the players like them and the players typically pick the uniform outside of special days (notably the starter). That is why the retro uniform has made many appearances outside Friday...usually when the team is streaking. I will never forget when we were sucking so bad and the team was so desperate for something they started wearing the BP uniforms. Where did you find that? I was trying to look up that exact information and couldn't find it. I thought there was a site of some sort that tracked it.
  7. It is pretty obvious at this point that is the logo short of the official announcement.
  8. They literally made flag holder a Gold level award...they let anyone do that last year and you didn't even have to use any level reward to do it...oh Brewers. I kind of want to do the crazy cap shuffle and intentionally get it wrong. The reaction would be phenomenal. That site is a disaster for me. Looks half completed.
  9. He helped lead his team to a World Series appearance and was unworldly good this year. Not to mention quite incredible this postseason to boot. I don't want just him, could I get like 4 more too? His comments came after the Astros failed to use one of the best pitcher in the game in the biggest spot possible. Emotions were probably high and he was probably quite upset...pretty understandable.
  10. I don't think any of those losses you mentioned are near the level of the Illinois loss. This years team is pretty darn good, but 2018 was not very good at all. They weren't bad, but hardly a team that was invincible against inferior opponents. Of course maybe this years team isn't as good as we originally thought and they end up losing 4 games (not including the bowl game). I think it was a bit flukey...but it definitely was pretty embarrassing and a loss that should simply not happen.
  11. Wow, pretty harsh towards the 90s. They had some solid teams. Wasn’t it 1998 they printed playoff tickets before a miserable Sept? I still have them in my dad’s house. Jeff Cirillo, Fernando Vina, Mark Loretta, jeromy Burnitz, David Nilsson, John Jaha....all good players. Even Jose Valentin, despite his strikeouts and poor D, was good. We had solid bullpens. If we had any pitching at all, we might have had winning seasons Some solid teams? They finished second place one single time...that was their highest accomplishment. I think the gas a 83 win team, an 80 win team, and then all down hill from there. The 90s teams sucked and their uniforms were quite fitting.
  12. Window Shop? Just go out back and look in the dumpster. Anything will be an improvement.
  13. It was super blatant and deserved the call. The fact Turner wasn't that shocked tells you a lot too. He was running down the grass all the way to 1B. He is pretty clever though angling at the last second so he could interfere as much as possible, but still end up having his foot hit 1B in an acceptable spot at the end. The video below is great. The last replay at 31 seconds or so shows it well. Sorry, you aren't running down the grass that long to first and not getting called for it. Not even sure how there is any debate on this. He tried to go on a fine line with the rule and lost...he knew it. At the point of contact (with the glove) he is a bit to far to the left...but that is what you get when you run down the line in the grass. He likely could have run down the line normally and had a similar collision. It does get called at 1B from time to time. Usually on wild pitches where the runner can run to first....sometimes on bunts too. In this case a swinging bunt. Can't recall the last time I saw it called, but it does happen. I think many times they don't call it because there is no point in calling it if the runner is out anyway. Usually it is attempted to no avail. https://www.pennlive.com/sports/2019/10/world-series-game-6s-wackiest-moments-including-a-questionable-call-and-dave-martinez-ejection.html
  14. He didn't really have another play outside of Groshek and you probably pick up 2-3 yards. Not terrible for a 4th and 2 try then. Outside of that is kinda irrelevant as the ball was clearly going to Ferguson or maybe Groshek if Ferguson fell down. The left side was very slow developing and by watching the video one can see an absolutely just pathetic effort by the LT. Coan didn't know it but any longer and he was going to get drilled as the DL went pretty much unblocked. I guess I am also shocked Taylor wasn't on the field. It wasn't an obvious passing down. I don't think it could have been an more predictable what we were doing. I also don't get why every receiver was 10+ yards downfield twice as far as we needed to get. Just feels like we made that way harder and more complicated than it needed to be. Can a Wisconsin QB audible cause it seemed like a nice situation to run a shorter route over the middle to get 5 yards or pretty dang close to it.
  15. Kind of inevitable a cord cutting option would go out. There are simply to many of them trying to compete and too much bouncing around provider to provider. My fear is the nice options to cord cut will dwindle and be left with a few options that are questionable better/cheaper.
  16. The last play against Illinois was bad execution. Watching it I would guess the option he was considering before snapping was the TE or the opposing team. When the ball is snapped he looks at the TE the entire time. Because of that the DB/LB quickly bounces off covering Groshek the second he starts his throwing motion. It was trying to thread a needle between three defenders and Coan made it about as predictable as possible. The play call isn't the worst...but Coan had a big moment and fell on his face in my opinion. I won't totally ignore the play by the defender, because it was nice...but Coan tipped his pitch so to speak and underthrew his TE a bit.
  17. It may dramatically change college athletics, may make them worse, and may make parity worse. That being said it needs to happen, stop taking advantage of kids completely. Stop making poor kids/parents take horrendous under the table contracts that tie them to a shoe company with terrible terms for years. What gets lost in a lot of the deals where kids get $50k is it isn't just to go to a school. It usually forces them into a promise to stay with that shoe company when they go pro and forces them to sign with a specific agent. All likely costing them way more than that measly $50k. It is no coincidence many players stick with the shoe company they wore in college. Also this has nothing to do with getting a piece of the pie when it comes to the money universities make. You won't see a Jonathan Taylor jersey being sold because the NCAA has already said they want nothing to do with the players making money. So no, the players won't be getting part of jersey sales etc. This simply allows them to not be under communist control when it comes to their own person/image. It is kind of crazy the rules athletes are put under. Even at the lower divisions in the NCAA kids are ripped apart for every little thing. Not sure how this will actually work in reality though. It is not very clear what is or isn't allowed.
  18. I have thought about this Seager thing for a few days, I am struggling to get on board with it...sounds like a hard pass for me. Seager just isn't enough of an elite bat for me to punt 4 years of control for 2 years. Seager started out blazing hot in his career, but the last two years offensively are good, but not really a force in the line up. I would take Hader/Iglesias over Seager. I just don't see the vast improvement for our team that makes it worth it to give up two years of an irreplaceable player. I would do it if we knew we were getting 2016-2017 Seager, but that really isn't assured. The injury history is also a notable concern. If he has a major injury half of what you traded for is flushed down the toilet with that little of control. I definitely can understand why someone would want the trade and it could be a good one if it could happen...I just wouldn't do it personally.
  19. Yet he doesn't even know how baseball stitching works. It isn't the iconic look. 9/10 people who aren't a Brewers fan don't even think there is a change outside of the color. Heck half the Brewers fans I have talked to about it didn't even see the differences until pointed out. They are so minor more than 10 feet away you probably can't even tell. I just don't think it is much of a disservice to the logo and probably better they didn't just bring back the old one...talk about lame/boring. I think they did a pretty good job making some minor tweak to make it look a bit more crisp. I am not too concerned about the jerseys soon to come. Some seem pretty obvious. You got the home white with navy pinstripes, there will likely be an alternate navy like there is now, I would guess a gray away jersey, and I would imagine the true retro stays in circulation. I would guess they all have the same block lettering...no squiggly cursive. Maybe there will be another alternate jersey that is a bit more bold, but they may wait till the mass purchase of the new jerseys (notably the home pinstripe) before throwing another jersey into the mix. Seemed kind of inevitable looking back that they would alter the BiG logo. I always said it seemed real strange to casually add and make the retro logo the primary logo and THEN do some big rebranding announcement. Now even the navy retros they have done in years past are going to be altered, technically.
  20. Talib could have been a 49er, but he essentially blocked it from happening threatening to not show up. Now, a Miami Dolphin. Then again being a rich football player in Miami is prooooobably a decent gig.
  21. Gender reveals are fine as long as you make them what they are, not a big deal. Once you make it a grand party...take er down a notch will ya?
  22. Haha good ole barrel man. I hope he makes an appearance this year. That theory is possible. That old primary logo debacle was part of why I found it a bit confusing they didn't just keep it simple. Of course at least it has the BiG in it...unlike that old primary logo that I am pretty sure only ever appeared on the away uniforms. The Brewers also rarely used it for anything else. But like I said I doubt it is common on anything major. Most of it will be the BiG by itself so I won't care too much.
  23. Funny enough I think the new one looks legit and the old one looked like a Chinese knockoff drawn up by a 8 year old. I actually like the two seams versus whatever it was before, I don't mind centering the ball in the 'b', and I will get used to the connection of those two letters. The decision to put it in the circle and add the letters is really strange. It looks silly and is so repetitive. Why even bother for something no one is actually going to like/prefer and will rarely be used. I am sure it will be like most other teams that have the same freakin' logo design and it is just a sleeve patch. Everything else uniform related lacks the circle. Of course as I mentioned before the Astros have the same exact logo design, but their card is the simplified version...without a circle. It is kinda strange ours has it. Not sure if that means something or not.
  24. Yates didn’t have a high leverage outing all year long. There is something to be said about every outing being huge and every outing meaning nothing as far as the team goes. Hader pitched in huge spots all year. When you think about it a high leverage reliever is expected to do his job (be perfect) or he is a choker who blew the game. It is so much different than say a hitter. A hitter is either going to be a hero or he just didn’t get it done that time. Someone like Hader is put under a microscope every single time he takes the mound, his results either make or break a game. Not saying I would pick Hader over Yates, but for a reliever I do think the status of your team means something. Heck a lot on here rail Villar and accredited most of his success this year to being on a loser with no pressure.
  25. 7 teams already put a logo within a circle with the City/Name. If accurate that is incredibly unoriginal and absolutely stupid to not just leave the BiG by itself. However, if you look at the article take note of the Astros logo. Their primary logo is much like the Brewers one (circle and all), but their card mock up has the simplified ‘H + Star’ logo. So the card mock ups don’t really make sense.
