  1. I am not shocked we are interest and/or want him...but I don't think we have the prospects to entertain such deals. Unless they decide to trade Hiura we probably can't be players for elite guys controllable over 2 more years. It just takes way too big of a package.
  2. Is there anything to actually back this up or is it just based on the fact he was good at one point prior? Sometimes guys are just shells of their former self and are nothing like what they once were. Is there anything to actually believe he isn't far off his 2016 version? Or it is believable he could rebound?
  3. I don’t mind the All Star game. I admire the baseball players for putting in some real effort unlike the other sports.
  4. Lol you deserve to get paid based on how much money you generate. If the men generate more money sucking vs. the women winning (likely) then cry me a river. Why should they be paid the same if they don’t generate the same revenues? “They deserve more” Sorry Clancy but I feel you are using the same logic when people say firefighters deserve more than football players. I don’t think you understand how things work in the money world. Generate money...get money. Usually how it works. Now if the women generate more or it is disproportionately wrong compared to the men...then all the power. But basing it on their success? Annoying and seems like total inability to understand reality.
  5. Wheeler really likes to blow chunks a lot....but puts together a lot of really good starts at the same time. Kinda reminds me of Chris Archer. I didn't want to touch Archer with a 20 foot pole and Wheeler isn't much different.
  6. Do you think we were the only bidder when we got Cain? Yelich? Wheeler is no Manny Machado, I doubt such a bidding war for Wheeler happens.
  7. If we are close in the division race I definitely expect some notable moves (not necessarily elite***) and possibly even some type of controllable player that will help next year if this year kinda flops.
  8. HighHeat, is that you? Yes - 50% No - 50% Real bold cotton. Haha regardless 50% seems a bit extreme. While we are contending trading away someone with so much control and is so important is really unlikely. It is a nice theory and it has its place in armchair GM world, but it is pretty rare in actuality.
  9. So essentially you want to walk 5 steps back and then trade the prospects to move forward 5 steps. Since our bullpen has arguably had quite the problems I don't see how rearranging deck chairs is going to help. Yeah, you could have some crazy theory on how we can be just as good and keep a few prospects to boot...but that is the kind of theory that isn't really reality. Might as well stick the prospects out there and hope we hit it big.
  10. It would take some insane perfect package to move Hader. You are either trading him and starting a full-blown rebuild or somehow a contending team is sending so much can't miss AA-AAA talent it actually would make sense. Hader is an essential piece to us contending short term I just can't fathom them trading him. The Astros are probably the only team that has the kind of insane prospects that trading a few off for Hader wouldn't deplete their system and maybe make sense. The only other two teams I could see are the Dodgers or Braves. Dodgers are probably the most logical team because they have to be getting desperate to win and Hader could honestly put them over the top. However that much control of Hader is arguably worth one of the premier prospects in the game...not sure the Dodgers possess that. The Astros have the prospects, no doubt, but they may not be that desperate to trade away their reinforcements. Braves are an interesting possibility. It is so hard to match up on a trade of such magnitude. There are arguably only a handful of teams with the prospects to do it that would want him. Add in the fact we are competing and have a bright short term future the trade would have to be not only good, but likely be AA-AAA elite talent so we could have a quick turnaround.
  11. Not really a gesture as Woodruff fits the mold of a high K type of a pitcher that are normally picked for the All Star teams. In the NL Woodruff is ranked 5th in strike outs, 6th in K/9 and 6th in K%. I would say he is rather deserving to be picked to replace any pitcher who would have been held out of the All Star game. I didn’t say that. Actually noted he is worthy himself. I just don’t think it is a coincidence he is replacing a Brewer.
  12. Pretty cool for Woodruff! Not sure who the NL manager/picker is, but guessing this was a nice gesture to replace a teammate with another teammate who was arguably All Star worthy himself.
  13. Lol if Anderson wanted a different job he would have it. He is one of the most sought after play by play guys in sports. Actually probably is the most sought after guy in the country. I don’t know if anyone else that does as much as him or does as many sports...and most of those other gigs are playoffs.
  14. I’d say the odds are over 75% not only is he not going to be here...but retired. I don’t think his opinion will change much from what it was when he could be traded. Probably would only go to an LA team to play. He has kids now, more money than he has said he needs, and is old. I think he would have to be pretty flexible to find a job since he is pretty bad defensively and his stats just aren’t that good. Not to mention pretty constant nagging injuries/problems over the years. It isn’t that I don’t think he could find a job, more I just don’t think he will find one that is the perfect fit to keep playing. He is essentially limited to a team in the AL because he isn’t really starter quality anymore and no one is carrying a bench OFer who can only play LF. I doubt he is about the minimal salary he would get and how many AL teams that will be contending want a .750 OPS DH bat with an injury history? I think it would be pretty cool if he just announced before next season he planned to retire since so many Milwaukee fans adore him.
  15. Yelich has nothing to do with that last play. Thames was lazy as hell trying to get that ball. That may go down on Yelich, but that was all Thames. Get in front of the ball. The other part was the pathetic fundamentals. What the hell is Burnes doing on the first base side of home plate? The ball is coming from RF. Grandal should have gone to back up Thames when he saw the off throw and Burnes should have them got to home to cover home. That was terrible. The off throw should have been meaningless because all they had to do was stop the ball as no one could advance if they just simply got the ball.
  16. Arcia a utility player...that is a thought, honestly. But as mentioned the Brewers are pretty ticked off about his defense this year, so I doubt it. I think they could move on after the year. Why continue trotting out a replacement level player hoping for something to change?
  17. Perez got dumped more because Arcia and not himself in my opinion (though he obviously didn’t play well). They obviously aren’t happy with Arcia, especially his defense. With that being said they wanted someone else to get time at SS, but Perez isn’t great defensively there. Saladino is a better defensive utility player and I don’t think the offensive difference will be much. I guess what I am trying to say is Perez wouldn’t have been DFA’d if Arcia was playing well, especially defensively. Dubon isn’t up because they view him as a potential starter, not a utility player. Makes more sense to keep him down getting consistent playing time. They could trade him, but that isn’t why they are keeping him down.
  18. Miller Park now has a second hotel within walking distance. The Best Western is about a 1.1 mile walk (23 mins) and a Marriott Fairfield is opening down Miller Park Way just a .5 mile (12 min) walk. No ballpark village, but at least a little bit of growth in the area nearby to give it a second hotel.
  19. I think this team will flip a switch like the 2011 team did. The offense is good or has that potential. Hiura could be a huge help as will 1B improving. We can go get the pitching and I think we do. Not sure we win the division, but postseason will happen.
  20. 162 games there are ups and downs. Some you play like a 100 win team and some a 100 loss team Shocking, I know.
  21. Doesn’t Shaw have an option for next year too? I’m not trading him unless one overpays his perceived current value.
