  1. Your music isn't going anywhere and you won't need to pay the monthly fee to get to it. Take a deep breath you old-timers!
  2. Honestly I just figured Brian The Automator logged in to check on the site and horrified, shut the site down forever.
  3. I don't care for his homerun total in 162 games unless you are telling me he is going to play 162 games. Nor do I really care for his torrid start to the year to be added like that. I would rather see that total at the end of the year. Not saying he can't or won't be good...or that he hasn't magically improved overnight...but lets not act like it is a sure thing and major regression won't show up. It is probably more likely than him actually being this good long term.
  4. He has hit .270 once and has hit 30+ homers once. I do find it pretty concerning he has a .309 OBP for his career and his ungodly year (2019 so far) his OBP is .337. That is pretty darn bad. Sure not a huge concern when he is hitting like he has so far, but betting on that to continue is pretty risky and wishful. Can he actually consistently hit .270 or hit 30+ homers....his career track record would say definitely not. And his career started at 23 for a full season and he is now in season 30.
  5. What if he falls back to reality? Then we have an overpriced 1B who isn't even good for the position. People think someone is terrible when they OPS .850 over there (Thames). Extending Moose sounds like a way to continue our disappoint for years. Small sample improvements are dangerous. Aguilar looked like some new and improved hero over there most of last year and that surely didn't translate long term.
  6. Forget about the mutual option already. Unless he falls off a cliff there is no way in heck he is exercising that. To him that is a $8mil option because he gets $3mil from the buyout regardless and the option is worth $11mil.
  7. Outperform his talent level? What does that even mean? That’s like saying you got your car that maxes out at 140mph to go 180mph. I mean, it doesn’t make sense. Clearly he was at that talent level and it wasn’t luck. Speaking of things Moustakas has an OPS of .924 and his career best was .835. I’m not saying he can’t just greatly improve overnight...but huge red flag and quite a bold strategy to give such a guy an extension when he is over 30. Guys usually don’t suddenly improve that much at 30/31 and keep it up every year after. There are examples...but risky to bet on that. I have GREATLY enjoyed Moustakas this year...but some have started to call for a possible extension (mostly mentioned after the season)...but I’d pump the brakes on that...seems riskier than some may think.
  8. Amazing a few games ago the sky was falling due to two losses in a row, but now you look at it and we have won 6/8 games including the disastrous losing streak. Turns out we didn’t get swept by the worst team in baseball and instead won the next four in a row. Let’s make it six in a row in Houston.
  9. I recall an away player once, but I am 99.99% positive that does not count. On another note I don’t see them sending Cain for a DL Trip. He has been fine outside of the lack of power and he is still playing great defense. Not like he is hitting .150.
  10. Yes, someone wins a car if it is hit on the fly. You don’t get that car, but credit towards one obviously. Someone hit the ball under it (and I mean just under it, not where people sit) and it bounced up a foot to hit it. They were petty and wouldn’t give a car away.
  11. Two things to add: I found out this no-hitter was a combined no-hitter from an article...which to me is not that incredibly impressive. I’m surprised the team got so upset over it. Secondly, we assume this player was “trying to win”. However, I am willing to bet the only thing on his mind was breaking up the no-hitter. So does that change it? If the player says “I was just trying to break up the no-hitter” then are they just a douche?
  12. I always liked both Diaz and Harrison. Watching Diaz a lot in 2016 I was convinced he was a definite MLB bat some day. He could be a really good player if that HR power translates to the MLB level...and he is having quite a HR year in AAA so far. Monte Harrison was my prospect crush. He is also having a stellar year including 19 SBs with only 1 CS in 43 games, wow. However, we traded those three bats for a reason...all are high risk and all like to strikeout a ton. Which has changed very little since the trade. I think it is very likely Yelich is a free agent and gone before any of those guys make an MLB impact.
  13. I think they have a way better chance than you give them credit for. Many years there is an All Star staff of replacements after injuries and Sunday pitchers are taken out. Zach Davies could definitely make it in that way with a super low ERA. Woodruff I think would need to string together a lot of stellar starts to drop his ERA. While his supporting stats are amazing a 3.50+ ERA likely isn’t punching you a ticket with zero track record. How those replacements are picked is very hard to judge because the manager gets to choose them. Some managers will chase the supporting stats (Woodruff), the low ERA (Davies), and the less stellar guy with a track record (Cain). Cain could always make noise to get himself in. His defense is so widely touted and he is well liked around MLB. If he went on a tear and had more respectable numbers it isn’t crazy for him to make it.
  14. His stats in April/May/June are insane. You can almost never find a bad month and most of the time he is straight filthy. Then July hits and it gets super shaky for him.
  15. Alright this was technically the minors, but it has happened at the MLB level too. I will attach a link that has some MLB player opinions. Essentially the guy had a no-hitter in the 9th (one out) and a guy bunted with his team down 3-0. Personally with the game that close I think it is a legit way to get someone on and start a rally. One of the MLB guys said, "The goal is to win, not break up a no-hitter." That is where I stand on it. If the game is still realistically within reach then go for it. However, to go up there and bunt down by 5+...well, I think that really speaks to the kind of person you are because it is pretty clear you mind is on breaking up the no-hitter and not winning. Along with the fact you are basically admitting you suck and the only way you are going to get a hit is by hoping you can get a bunt down...real impressive. Scooter Gennett had the all-time quote on this situation and honestly maybe he is right : https://www.mlb.com/news/bunting-to-break-up-a-no-hitter-mlb-players-react
  16. Alright lets regroup here: Locks: Christian Yelich Mike Moustakas Josh Hader Yasmani Grandal If the star keeping aligning: Zach Davies Needs one heck of a hot streak: Lorenzo Cain Davies is pretty much the only question mark at this point. Contreras and Grandal are the only catchers hitting, no one else is even in the same universe. Moustakas should definitely make it at this point. He is the best offensive 2B in the NL and after Marte the offense at 2B pretty much falls off sharply. Zach Davies just keep chugging along and if he keeps his crisp looking ERA I imagine he will make it via actually being picked or eventual injury/not eligible to pitch replacement. Four guys...maybe five. Not bad.
  17. Braun mashing? I think crashing would be a better word to describe his play recently. The last two weeks his OPS is .668 and that isn't some small sample, that is 38 PAs. He has been solid this year, but he has been pretty bad the last few weeks.
  18. Too much not interested. Also not interested in Greinke. Now EE maybe. But his D at first concerning. Not like Thames and Aguilar are gold glovers.
  19. We are two games into the Hiura-less world and he would have made......wait for it....ZERO DIFERENCE. I would expect a meltdown if we were actually losing some close games where Shaw played like trash. Instead who has been playing or not playing on offense has been meaningless because the pitching is hot garbage.
  20. Crickets. Go figure... Can't be wrong if you don't respond
  21. I want nothing to do with Smith and for one reason only. I feel like that dude starts off hot and gets gassed out by the end of the freaking season way too often. I checked my feeling via splits: 2018: First Half - 1.23 ERA August - 3.38 ERA September - 6.75 ERA 2017: Injured****** 2016: Injured through May**** First Half - 2.12 ERA July - 5.79 ERA August - 5.59 ERA September - 0.00 (8.2 innings in 13 appearances, so looks like he got match-ups galore just for a slight disclaimer) 2015: First Half - 1.87 ERA July - 7.00 ERA August - 2.13 ERA September - 3.65 ERA 2014: First Half – 3.09 ERA July – 14.54 ERA August – 6.52 ERA September – 0.00 ERA I think I would probably take a pass on Will Smith unless he is pretty cheap. He tends to not do very well in the second half of the season.
  22. Good idea, I agree. Probably hard regardless of that. The Brewers can dream of being a sustainable contender for years, but my personal opinion is to chase windows and endure the bad rebuilds if need be. But no reason that window can't be another 3-5 years depending on some things going right...even if they purge some good prospect capital. I think our prospects at this point look very uninspiring and the odds they can refuel this team years from now if not the greatest of odds.
  23. You have to wonder why Boston had no interest in resigning him and why he was a FA this long. Meh, the later is likely due to high demands and then once the season started it is probably best to wait and see what team gets desperate while also shedding the draft pick attachment. The prior is a bit more interesting, but could be simply explained by not wanting to commit long term money to a closer. Mind you when they decided to not go after him he was asking for a ton of money. I am sure the terrible postseason also sits in their mind making them a bit hesitant to resign him...teams are very sensitive to good or bad postseason performances.
  24. Market size > smallest revenue > 15-20th smallest And our payroll is #14 to start the year....so what am I missing? Seems to me our payroll is aggressive for our revenue size and it will only grow more mid-season. Seems a far cry from being cheap. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2019-mlb-opening-day-payrolls-red-sox-cubs-yankees-open-season-above-competitive-balance-tax-threshold/
