  1. If so makes the Shaw transaction simple for a few more weeks. We are currently repping three catchers on the roster. That alone tells me they are swapping Nottingham for Shaw. There is no reason we would go a pitcher short right now to keep someone who won’t be used at all (Nottingham) unless we plan on sending him down in a day or two anyway.
  2. Not to mention Aguilar can’t be optioned and if we were picking mostly likely to rebound Shaw would be the winner be a country mile. Also hard to dump Thames when he is the only one of the three to be half competent. Seems like they will go a pitcher short for the time being. There really isn’t a best or perfect way to go about it.
  3. I’ve considered it before. I really wanted the Brewers to break the bank for Yu Darvish. Anyone who really wanted a pitcher that offseason probably has a bad “wrong”. I thought Lance Lynn was going to be the value pickup for some team that offseason.
  4. The cost is a consideration but I'm thinking you can get a right handed platoon bat for not much prospect capital. Did not cost much to get Moose last year. Something along that line would be fine with me. I'm thinking some sort of weird platoon with Shaw and Thames can't be worse than Aguilar has been. Maybe it could. Perez is an outside the box answer maybe. It's a tricky situation for sure unless Shaw starts raking. Not a fan of Shaw/Thames. You are assuring yourself garbage results vs. LHP. With Aguilar, sure, maybe he is garbage...but at least there is hope he can do good or even figure it out entirely. Little reward going Shaw/Thames.
  5. Time to bring back the brim flip down sunglasses. No one wants to wear their sunglasses in the infield on plays they don’t need them (most plays) so they leave them on the top of their head. If only there was a way to flip them down quick when needed!!!
  6. Arcia couldn’t make a big play then Cain couldn’t make a big play...unfortunate with the possible implosion inning cooking.
  7. Himself for not trying to improve sooner? The coaching staff for not helping him? I sent Arcia a letter a few seeks into the season telling him he should start trying to improve. He sent me a response "Thanks I never thought of that!" plus an autographed bat. Guess it's working. Oh man, good one. Either the Brewers told Arcia to fix his leg kick and didn’t listen (not trying to improve). Or somehow over the course of multiple seasons this idea never dawned on them (coaching staff not helping him). Hope he continues to look good at the plate and bad habits don’t come back. It’s pretty sad an improvement fans have begging for took this long to somehow get implemented...or at least consistently happen in games.
  8. Don't tell Keston that! The book is still out on his. High leg kicks aren’t necessarily automatically bad. With Arcia it was quite apparent it was aiding more to his struggles than helping his timing.
  9. We never got offered Bellinger in a trade. That trade was questionable enough not taking if the prospects were nothingburgers. We weren’t offered a Top 40 prospect and turned it down. Nothing Stearns has done leads me to believe he was or ever will be that dumb.

    NBA Finals

They won the first two games and they dropped four in a row. They were a huge disappointment. Only thing that could have made it even worse is if Toronto went on to lose 4-0 to the Warriors.
  11. He has been slightly above average offensively for years and his defense is/was meh at 3B. I think outside of one season he was a 1.5 WAR player on average and always sports a really low OBP. He just hasn't been that good to be committing 3+ years to.
  12. I am actually shocked and impressed with our 1B now. Someone is actually worse?
  13. Interesting take you had in April, which is in agreement with my take, but now 5 weeks later you do a 180, and this is after Thames has regressed since your comments. Why? Is disagreeing with every take I have no matter how you really feel the thing to do? I like that Smoak is a switch hitter, simply because I'm not a big fan of platoons. Curious, do you just see that he is listed as a switch hitter and come to the conclusion he is actually good against both? Because he isn't, he has an OPS of .647 against LHP and last year was still sub .700 OPS. He would be marginally better than say Thames split wise...but certainly not someone you actually want starting everyday. He isn't a true switch hitter like Yasmani Grandal who can have some legitimate long term success against both.
