  1. It would cost Burnes, Yusnial Diaz>Corbin Burnes. That being said the Dodgers gave up a bunch of low level not highly ranked guys after that. I think you could have a shot starting with Turang if they like him, but you are probably then giving up 3 in the Top 10 or so. Our system is pretty sad these days. Without the premium guy being offered we probably get outbid unless we offer quite a few quality guys. Would I give up Burnes for Rendon? If he keeps it up, 1B continues to be a disaster, and otherwise this team looks really legit...yah I would probably consider it. The impact of swapping Aguilar/Thames/other trash for Rendon would be pretty insane. Would I do it now the way the team has looked collectively? No, I would have to be confident in my hypothetical postseason roster and out ability to win the division to make that kind of move. The Dodgers risked it on Machado because they were confident they weren't going to get stuck in some fluky WC game.
  2. I am sorry, but you are wrong on this. Below ONLY includes guys that stayed local and they ARE NOT power schools. Most schools are comparable or even less decorated than the Wisconsin program...and no they aren't all in shiny southern US. There were many more that may have not stayed local, but definitely went to a lesser schools instead of elite program offers. 2019 - #1, #4, #7, #16, #20 2018 - #5, #10 2017 - No Good Examples 2016 - #12, #15 2015 - #5, #8, #9, #10, #12, #14, #19 Mind you I stopped after the Top 20. The frequency of guys staying local past #20 is incredibly rampant and common (which in the defense of Wisconsin...the state has not produced a ton of these level prospects in recent years...well the Hausers.) Wisconsin has one single Top 100 recruit since 2013. I think it is more than guys just picking elite programs and staying in the warm sun. This despite being a pretty successful program for years. On a different note I find it interesting the Hauser brothers weren't a huge loss, yet the last time Wisconsin had major success they were led by the likes of Kaminsky/Dekker. Who if I recall were tall guys that could shoot some 3's. Given different coach at the time, but similar player duo. Not saying the Hausers are that level of good, but same type of threat.
  3. That isn’t a valid excuse for missing any half decent prospect. Good and even mega prospects are staying local all the time. Maybe they just have bad luck...but regardless it looks bad.
  4. It is actually pretty impressive how much Wisconsin fails getting in state talent to come to Madison...pretty sad to be honest. It may not be entirely Gard’s fault, but he certainly didn’t impress these kids enough and Wisconsin had to of been a major consideration in their mind. Gard failed...how much? Debatable, but it may have been his only saving grace.
  5. They probably won't and that might be partially why they brought Hiura up before Super 2 (predictive) cutoff. Because they know Shaw will eventually show enough to come back up and prove himself. Last 3 games for what it is worth: 1/3 2 BB 0/3 1 BB 2/4 Just 1 strikeout in this span
  6. Yah you can and it wouldn't even rank within the Top 1,000 service time robberies of all time. I am half joking and half wonder how many hundreds of unfair situations are in front of him. Travis Shaw has been one of the better 3B in baseball the past two seasons and has struggled with an injury this year. After some time off and a short rehab stint it really isn't crazy to send down a player who has been mostly average since his promotion. Currently there is no good option to give Shaw another chance without sending Hiura down. They could swap Hiura for Shaw tomorrow and there is no way to know whether they did it because they want to give Shaw another chance or if it is to avoid Super 2 status. No way to know because there is a ton of logic to give Shaw another chance. That being said pointless argument because if they were so worried about Super 2 status they would have never promoted Hiura in the first place and had just waited. Instead they could have promoted a different MI...but they didn't because clearly Super 2 status isn't a huge deal to them. Lets not act like Hiura is being held back or demoted on some terrible team with some journeymen AAAA player blocking him. Travis Shaw was borderline AS level the last two years.
  7. He played 18 games there, only starting 12. I don't think that is nearly enough evidence to make this claim. I think there is enough evidence behind the scenes to help us infer that. They essentially said he won't play first this year and obviously despite a giant disaster at 1B this year and Gamel playing great D with offense he hasn't seen one moment there. As for Grandal I seriously doubt that is any type of long term option. Pina/Nottingham is going to be trash and Grandal at first is unlikely to be very pretty. Might as well pray Aguilar figures it out at that point.
  8. Aguilar not hitting is brutal. He is the only RHB who can play 1B. We can't depend on Perez to play there a bunch...and really, what a sad option there anyway. Shaw is hard to fit back on this roster. Too bad Braun was terrible there.
  9. Gotta really wonder when Aguilar is just a lost cause. He can’t be optioned and it is June...or about to be. He is worthless and plays a terrible 1st base. He provides nothing and it just a big ole anchor at this point. July? Is July the point he is just dumped? When we get a replacement?
  10. That was a good choice to go to Claudio. He has been electric vs. LHB all year and there were three to start the inning. -Soft Liner single (okay) -2B pretty much blows an out -Double...okay oww. Take him out - Double (Counsell=Not Smart Idea) It didn’t work, won’t always work. Who knows if Hiura gets an out and Guerra comes in a batter earlier. Certainly likely it isn’t 5 runs. They aren’t going to avoid dropping him after some silly pick they gave up. People don’t care about that pick anymore, they do care when a guy constantly sucks though. Use him like a LOOGY and long run the results will be way nicer.
  11. Also for those curious about “something more” I heard and have seen others mention the mother was all over them not going to Wisconsin. However I question how relevant that was. I think it is just people bitter over them not going to Wisconsin.
  12. And the Twins do? They've matched the Brewers' ineptness 0 for 0 They were 0-5 compared to our 0-8 which included a lead off triple and two lead off doubles. I’m not sure how many of their fails were with zero and one out.
  13. 75 yards away with his back to Braun ... yeah, the ump has to help there. Braun had a horrible view of what was happening being between 2nd and 3rd, and was hung out to dry. No other way to look at it. I think it’s over 100 yards. 3b to deep rightcenter should be at least 300 feet. Try looking for a detail from one endzone to the other Did a quick distance on google earth. 3B to RC at Miller Park is 350 feet. So yah he was probably at least 100 yards away from the catch.
  14. I don’t know if there are stats somewhere, but a lot of guys making their debut have good success. We have had our fair share. Guerra and Fiers were like dang aces when we brought them up.
  15. Haha thanks buddy. Any time. Can’t wait for the next player to make a mistake Thanks, I am sure your 4,000 posts all praise the players. You must be perfect.
  16. Crazy challenge.... that was all about not showing up Braun. Braun was ticked last week when he was thrown out at first and the play wasn't (at least) challenged. This is make up for that imho. It would have been a semi interesting replay if he had lost it when he opened his glove quick on the way down to get the glove in the pocket of the glove. Maybe they were hoping he lost it there and maybe something would be on replay.
