  1. Too soon to complain about not keeping Santana? Huge Bummer.
  2. It is already a win. We did it to win now. The only way it could have been a loss is if Brinson turned into something similar to what Yelich did for us instantly. And since Yelich is Barry Bonds and Brinson so far has been a pile of dung it is pretty obvious we did good on our end. Hard to really say we won over the Marlins because each team did the trade for entirely different goals. And since the stories of the players have yet to be finished they didn't lose the trade yet on their end. It is much like the Greinke trade, except in that case both teams won. We won then and the Royals won later on. Now, yes, we didn't win it all...but honestly I don't think that is the most appropriate way to grade win now trades. Or else most of the things we do (actually all of them) are terrible moves. Greinke improved us tenfold and now Yelich is improving us tenfold. Stellar moves that took are team from good to special. They gave us World Series contenders.
  3. Yelich strikes me at the kind of hitter who, barring injury, would age well. If the Crew could get him to defer money - and sign a relatively team-friendly deal as Braun did - I think it would be good. Yah, so was Braun when we extended him. Now he is made of glass and I think he uses his bat as a cane walking to the plate. In all seriousness did we seriously not learn anything from the Braun extension? We extended a guy waaay before he would even hit free egency and it turned into a bad idea before that extension even kicked in. He had his little PED fiasco and then after that died down he had the thumb problem (among other constant injuries). All this before that extension even kicked in. I don't think that contract will be an albatross, where his play doesn't even warrant a roster spot, but man we likely would have been way better off without the extension happening. If we didn't have him extended Khris Davis would still be here or Domingo Santana would still be roaming our OF. If you don't like either of those guys I am sure we could find someone to put up average offense for a lot less than $20mil a year. I don't mind having Braun on the team and since he at least hits somewhat decently it isn't a painful extension...but pretty hard to argue we would probably get better production for half the cost or less elsewhere. Whether a different addition or someone we had, but traded away because we didn't have room. Lorenzo Cain for example had a similar cost through FA. I want nothing to do with a Yelich extension this year, next year, and probably never. It just probably isn't a good idea.
  4. Haha STLSUX is available and I think they would give it to you honestly.
  5. I like Burnes a lot and think he had a nice start start despite the end result. I am pretty optimistic both him and Woodruff will figure it out this year soon rather than later. We need two out of the three youngsters to do good for us.
  6. The bullpen is not our weakness, that starting pitching is. Till it proves otherwise, on paper, it’s a pretty bad group. Just because of the fact the “proven guys” aren’t really all that good and while the young guys all have promise history would say their first year starting may not be very smooth.
  7. On another note, my ultimate favorite walk off. Down by run(s) and walk it off in the 9th. From about to lose to winning! AWESOME!
  8. Unpopular Opinion: The MVP chanting is getting pretty old. Yelich, the man, has said before he isn’t particularly fond of it. Can’t we just cheer like normal people? He isn’t the MVP anymore, it is March.
  9. I am amazed the C-flap is so popular after essentially one mishap...yes a two ear flap helmet is like foreign language even though there are problems every single year.
  10. Yah his approach is pretty decent all things considered. Even at his worst last year he was sporting a .750 OPS each month. That isn’t really stellar for a 1B, but I don’t see him being a black hole. Average would be a pretty good way to explain my expectation. Maybe a bit worse with defense included.
  11. Pretty tough play. Ozuna probably could have got it dead sprinting in, but once Carpenter camped himself in the area pretty confidently no way he was coming in hard.
  12. Must be why they leave the ballpark so fast. Yah that stat would be way cooler if they weren’t being deposited into the next county over.
  13. It's his first start. Give me a break. Peralta should immediately be released if that is your standard. What are you even talking about? He said it would be a shame if the offense was going to waste his outing when he was repping a 4.50 ERA pace at the time. Are we really going to blame the offense for wasting a guys performance because they didn’t score 5+ runs to make his strikeouts look cool? Usually to waste a pitchers stellar outting said pitcher needs to give up a run or zero...or give up two and go 8+ innings. Not go 5 innings of 2 run ball. Though as we can see he couldn’t even manage that.
  14. Quite the 4.50 ERA showing so far. So ERA is going to be the determining factor for you? I’d think step one for making his start not all for naught is by actually limiting runs. 4.50 ERA sucks (now 8.31). Strikeouts are meaningless when you don’t know how to limit runs. What a showing.
  15. Hope he doesn’t achieve that record. But at his rate he only needs 6 more Ks to get there officially (in a good way).
  16. Cardinals have struck out an entire 4 innings straight. Strikeouts are nice, but almost 60 pitches in 3 innings. Not good.
  17. It is possible, rule 5.04(b)(4)(A) (4) The Batter’s Box Rule (A) The batter shall keep at least one foot in the batter’s box throughout the batter’s time at bat, unless one of the following exceptions applies, in which case the batter may leave the batter’s box but not the dirt area surrounding home plate: (i) The batter swings at a pitch; (ii) An attempted check swing is appealed to a base umpire; (iii) The batter is forced off balance or out of the batter’s box by a pitch; (iv) A member of either team requests and is granted “Time”; (v) A defensive player attempts a play on a runner at any base; (vi) The batter feints a bunt; (vii) A wild pitch or passed ball occurs; (viii) The pitcher leaves the dirt area of the pitching mound after receiving the ball; or (ix) The catcher leaves the catcher’s box to give defensive signals. If the batter intentionally leaves the batter’s box and delays play, and none of the exceptions listed in Rule 5.04(b)(4)(A)(i) through (ix) applies, the umpire shall issue a warning to the batter for the batter’s first violation of this Rule in a game. For a batter’s second or subsequent violations of this Rule in a game, the League President may issue an appropriate discipline. In National Association play, for a batter’s second or subsequent violations of this Rule in a game, the umpire shall award a strike without the pitcher having to deliver the pitch. I LOVE IT! Make the impossible, possible!
