  1. Man I am so tired of the record payroll talk. Our payroll isn't even that impressive. We haven't been seriously competing for over a half decade and financially baseball has dramatically changed. Between inflation, the national TV deal, our soon to be TV deal, and a list of other factors $120mil is not all that impressive of a number we increased to. Grandal and Moustakas are short term deals so our future payroll is still really low. Short term we can have an unrealistic payroll because revenue has such a big spike when we know we will be good and fans are going to flood the gates. This whole $120mil number is not a big deal. They would probably push the payroll to $140mil+ on the year if a major part had no commitment past this year.
  2. They would laugh all the way to the bank if offered that. Jeremy Jeffress is a 30+ year old reliever who has/had a drug problem, has/had an alcohol problem, has/had health issues, and has been absolutely terrible anywhere else. Why would we extend him for his age 33-36 seasons when we have him under contract the next two years? He likely took a deal with us because A) He is comfortable here, which is a big deal with his past issues and B) Realizes there is a good chance his career goes up in flames the second he leaves. The best thing for both sides is to play out this contract and then just re-up on another 1-2 year deal if he is still good. This shouldn't even be a thought for the Brewers. Glad things are going well now on and off the field. Lets just hope it stays that way, he is still good two years from now, and they can make a deal again.
  3. That green...just wow...
  4. I don't like it. Build something now instead of living in the past. If this team wasn't dog crap for 25 years, nobody would be as vocal about bringing the logo back but since it was the logo when the Brewers had their first (and basically only) success until recently, people seem attached to it. Cut the cord. I wasn't alive in the era you speak of and love the logo. So no, you are wrong. It also seems strange why it is considered one of the best logos ever by people that care nothing about the Brewers, present or past if your statement is right.
  5. +1. The only reason he'd be in the minors is if he was unproductive or not 100% ready to pitch every 5th day. Service time is 0% of that equation. At which point he will be in extended spring training or end up the DL. There is no reason to even option him to be honest. If he isn't ready for the start of the year he will easily just be put on the DL from the get go. Even if "healthy" and still working up starter strength/tweaking things Nelson won't care if they just put him on the DL and have him do the extended spring training and then go on a rehab assignment. He is on a MLB salary regardless of where he is and how.
  6. It looks like we will be due for some big upgrades along with what is likely to be a revamp of uniforms/logo: "A “master plan” for the reserve fund pledges separate $6 million contributions for scoreboard improvements in 2020 and 2030, and $2 million for new seating in 2021." https://www.milwaukeemag.com/insidethemillerparktax So looks like we are getting a new scoreboard next year. If I remember right the last scoreboard debuted in 2011 and judging by the every ten years mentioned above 2021 might be the debut season of said scoreboard. The seats also are due for replacement!
  7. We could play the regression this and that game forever. Any team has the potential to regress at half their roster spots or simply have major injuries.
  8. lol the Brewers aren't going to hold Nelson in the minors for no reason. We were a win from the World Series...what is this madness being proposed. They are going to do everything they can to win it all...not play around with service time.
  9. Is this true? That seems crazy to me. I mean, they sell the parking on their website and through SSH packages...why would they waste resources doing that if they didn't get a cut? They probably also own the land. I imagine some 3rd party probably runs the operation, and the Brewers get x%. I am sure they get a cut, but I think most of it is going to someone else. It came up at some point I am not sure why...but it did. I think it had to do with parking at an unplanned game or event that was a disaster and it was mentioned the Brewers don't really control parking.
  10. Last I checked the Brewers don’t run their parking and don’t get those profits.
  11. Gio is a solid guy in my opinion...but I wouldn't expect much from him. He would obviously have a longer leash if resigned...wouldn't really have a choice. Guys cannot consistently get pulled in after 4-5 innings. Probably a guy who will float an ERA around 4. Certainly a pretty nice thing to have in your rotation. I am pretty lukewarm on him coming back. If the price is pretty cheap it would be a pretty solid signing. He surely isn't going to be a massive needle mover at the same time though.
  12. Even crazier, Braun debuted in his age 23 season and Harper hit FA and signed this contract to start in his age 26 season. Started at such a crazy young age.
  13. Nelson threw to live batters today. I don’t think he will be ready for opening day, but a good step. There is zero evidence to show anything, no one knows. Jimmy Nelson saying he is better than ever is about the most meaningless thing under the sun. Every player says similar garbage ever spring training. It is like some kind of requirement.
  14. You can pay like $100 a person to do it. The problem is they only allow 8 people per game. So that is a max 648 people and I am sure they won't book that all to SSH. The ticket upgrades suck in my opinion. You can just do that through the ballpark app. I have done it numerous times and it costs $35 a ticket to go from anywhere to one of the first 3 rows in the diamond box. I have even gotten first row in the first section of the outfield box for like $25 a ticket. There are always tickets they are holding for 20 gamers or other reasons in those premium section that just become upgrade eligible before the game.
  15. Thanks for the false hope that he was somehow gone, darn.
  16. Packers, tough it is fun to think that isn’t such an easy answer. Someone posted this a few years ago too. I’d go: 1) Packers 2) Bucks 3) Brewers Sorry, but I will never bet on the baseball team to win it all. Especially a small market like the Brewers. I’d usually put the Bucks last, but I actually think they have some kind of outside chance here in the next few years.
  17. At which point you are deep into fantasyland.
  18. That doesn’t sound too bad, will definitely consider it next year. My son loved the kids crew parade on the field last year. He walked the entire warning track not one complaint. So I am sure he would love the endless grass of the outfield. The movie actually sounds like a safer bet than the family play day...probably less crowded.
  19. I can’t wait to put batting practice as my #1 choice. I figure maybe 20 years from now I will have the right to threaten SSH cancellation and say I am going to cheer for the Cubs for the rest of my life if they don’t grant me that reward.
  20. I think he could be a beast in our defense. If available he is about as obvious of a pick as Eddie Lacy was years ago. It just makes too much sense.
  21. City of Philadephia has a wage tax. 3.88% So, he lives in one of the counties around Philly instead. Or a nice domicile in Delaware (NO income tax). If you work in Philly, you work in Philly. It is like when he goes and plays the Marlins. He is subject to those taxes.
  22. What did you end up getting? I did the same thing last year and did the movie night which was an absolutely massive hit with my kids. It was so great I ended up picking again as my blue. I went with the refillable cup. I really would have wanted the Jeffress/Suter print, but obviously that is long long gone. I plan to do the movie night next year if it is something very kid appropriate, like it is this year. I’m not confident in my 3 year old being all that interested in watching an entire movie, but at 4 years old I think he would enjoy it more.
  23. He pulled her to the ground by grabbing at the phone. I think he pulls her arm while going backwards and when she starts to tip that is where he actually gets the phone. If he didn’t want her to tip he would have been like, “Oh my god I am sorry, this is so embarrassing in public. How is that injured foot of yours?”. Instead he shows no remorse for pulling his wife to the ground in public to get a phone. From the witnesses they continued tusseling and fighting after she got pulled to the ground and had to be separated. Look, it isn’t a blatant body slam, but he got physical to get a phone. Today it is fighting over a phone and tomorrow she gets punched. Clearly they need some counseling if that is something they do in public...especially considering who they are.
  24. I bit the bullet the bullet a few days ago and got a 20-game pack. I will kick myself for awhile because I should have just done it last September as they were willing to give me a silver reward even though it was a new account. Of course I would have gotten better rewards too because as you can imagine at this point in the venture anything decent is well sold out. Oh well, hopefully I get some decent stuff in the next 40 years to make up for that.
