  1. I don't agree this team is built to win now. Too many holes for that to be true. Right now they are built for mediocrity which is the worse thing they can be. They aren’t selling, sorry....and they probably shouldn’t. We have a lot of promising players for next year. Burnes, Peralta, and Hiura. We can spend a bit in FA for either a C or SS. I’d put money on either Santana or Arcia rebounding. There are a ton of reinforcements for next year and big rebound candidates. You aren’t selling with all that for next year or trade some prospects for major addition. ToAdam: Sure, you could trade a Thames or Jeffress. You ain’t getting much for either though so good luck there. If we are better positioned for 2019 why are we selling? I just said we aren’t selling.
  2. Selling would be a waste. We need MLB talent...not prospects that will mostly be at A+ and below. We don’t need prospects that might help in 4 years...maybe never. This team is built to win now and Stearns better figure out how to put them over the top.
  3. Well if we poop the bed again Stearns will be going all in for 2019 (making major moves before and during the season). Because at some point making a bunch of great moves has to turn into wins. So far we have pooped the bed once and may be on our way to doing it again. Three years in a row and you’d really have to question if the man in charge is really that great. I’m not panicking because we have a lot of promise for 2019...but results have to happen eventually.
  4. Corey Ray doesn’t have that bad of a K-rate. He can easily be good at the MLB level with that kind of rate. Especially when he is adding so much value via SBs, value running the bases, walking, and providing solid power. Will he be a star at that kind of K-rate? Probably not...but his stat line right now would be one hell of a good MLB player. CF is just sad across MLB these days. His slugging would be the only other one of .500 or more in the MLB outside of Mike Trout, his OPS would be Top 5, and his steals would easily be #1. It doesn’t take much to be a good offensive CFer these days. Yah, I get the stats won’t translate perfectly (I would assume)...but it shows how much that kind of offense can play in CF. Could he move to the corner? Yah, but those stats are still floating around Top 15 in baseball. Corey Ray has the athleticism to be a star still. The stats this year show that.
  5. Really hope a bomb is hit here so I can complain about leaving the pitcher in 20 batters too long. Seriously...he is getting battered and fried out there.
  6. Haha yup he was blocking before he got the ball. Such a dumb rule, but I bet we get burned here. EDIT: Thanks New York. I’m convinced they turn a blind eye on that rule unless it actually effects the slide/play.
  7. Everyone keeps pointing to Brian Doziers season stats and I feel like just a little research would do some good. He has historically hit really well the second half of the year. The last month he has like a .900 OPS...last 14 days 1.100 OPS. He would be an upgrade easily...and like a large one.
  8. I wouldn’t be shocked if he disliked gay people. Talking about the gay person he saw in public certainly is more than “shock value” to me. Not that it is right, but that is pretty common for teenagers. Especially 7 years ago.... Maybe he still “hates gay people”...then again the amount of MLB players that hate gay people is probably sadly way too significant. So how much of a whipping boy would you even really want to make him? Some of these athletes hate all kinds of people. These tweets just seem so insignificant to me considering everything.
  9. Man can we stop with Ryan Braun’s hard hit %? Yah, he has gotten unlucky...no doubt. That doesn’t let you ignore all the other stats pointing to him being worse than last year whether a few more balls drop or not. He is still not great on defense (no a few diving catches doesn’t change that), he is still crippled, his walk rate is down, his K-rate is up, he looks worse at the plate, chases balls 10 feet outside...I could go on. If you are feeling generous you could probably say he has been inbetween this year and last. A grand ole average with the bat and the defense adds nothing. Ryan Braun is not going to help this offense unless he just gets hot at the right time...which any of our other average to below average players we are loaded with could do also. So not really saying much.
  10. Well we start off with Wade Miley, then Anderson vs. Kershaw, and then Suter. So basically we should expect it to look like Josh Hader’s All Star Game experience.
  11. Yah, definitely was just referring to trading them for Machado. If we are getting deGrom, Syn, JT Realmuto etc. Burnes/Peralta would be thrown onto the table no questions asked. Hiura is a bit of a toss up. He could be off the table for virtually anyone available at the deadline. Minus the three above (possibly)
  12. With both Broxton and Phillips up they only have 3 OFers on the roster down at AAA. Could really just be a depth move. They will have to trade Brett Phillips at the deadline or this winter if they would like to maximize his value though on the trade market.
  13. No, you don’t wait. If a deal presents itself that you think is good...go for it. Now that Machado is gone there aren’t any rentals to gut punch your farm for just 2 months of production. It wasn’t a horrific road trip. The record was brutal, but we were in most of those games. I definitely wouldn’t wait on controllable guys.
  14. Based on what evidence? He has his lowest BA in 5yrs, 2nd lowest OBP in 5yrs (by 7pts), lowest OPS in 5yrs, lowest OPS+ in 5yrs, -5 DRS lowest in 5yrs (Villar is 4-5 so going to Dozier is a sizable drop). GMs aren't going to adjust their offer because a dude has been great in the 2nd half the past 2yrs. 2nd half of the season counts just the same as the 1st half. The 1st half is meaningless because you will never have him in the first half and didn’t this year. All that matters is that he is good till the end of the year. So no, I don’t agree with your claim because he is a rental. If he wasn’t, sure, makes sense. Now I don’t know if GMs are going to take and run with the 2nd half player stuff. I don’t think the offers will reflect that fully, but certainly won’t be cheap cheap (like Walker).
  15. Haha wow. Resorting to millennial references. Come Briggs you must be better than that...or at least pretend to be while on this forum.
  16. Permanent as they are leaving AAA.
  17. So I finally saw the tweets. I don’t see why this is being reported to death. A lot of it did sound like rap lyrics...whatever. The KKK and white power stuff just looked immature...I will give him a pass. The gay comments were bad. Not everyone matures at the same speed etc. I take these comments as being immature and I doubt he feels that way outside of potentially being homophobic. But whatever I will leave it at that. I don’t care that people dig these up. You will get what you deserve. I don’t find the tweets to be concerningly bad though. Why these issues still happen is baffling though. I’m usually pretty critical of moral issues players get caught up in...but these one mostly seems “meh”.
  18. I wish the Dodgers the best of luck trying to finally win a World Series. The price seemed pretty insane and just not worth it for us.
  19. Uh yah, read a few pages of the thread. Kind of a silly question when most didn’t really want him and almost no one wanted him for the price.
  20. So if Mark Attanasio still ran the show?
  21. We don’t know that we aren’t championship quality. To say we aren’t is mostly a cop out because our odds to win it all are always incredibly low. That’s a pretty easy take on things. Teams worse than us have won it all and if we are postseason good we are good enough to win it all. Look I’m okay not getting Machado. We aren’t a super team so I’m not dying to fill every small hole and watch the best team in Brewers history. If Burnes needed to be included I’m okay missing out. I’d still like to see some nice moves. Maybe get a controllable bat of some sorts etc. I don’t want to see another sad deadline of nothing leading to dissapointment. Also “Salad Man” is an awful nickname. Why do we insist on giving the dumbest nicknames sometimes?
