Before we traded for Wheeler, i'd rather Stearns/Counsell simply tried Burnes in the rotation. Nope, they want their strong bullpen and I agree with them. Get a solid starter to hold down the fort.
I’d have to imagine that will correct itself. If Corey keeps this up he’ll be top 50 without a doubt In the offseason list. MLB.com already partially overhauled their Top 100 and Monte Harrison survived it.
Lepay has definitely improved which gives us a nice 1-2 punch. No if some of the other FSWI guys were filing in all the time...might be a bit more of a problem.
A decent comparison would be Carlos Gomez in 2017. His K-rate was almost 30% last year, but still managed an acceptable average with a good OBP%. Corey Ray would also provide better speed and power than a 2017 Gomez did, leading to notably better stats. So yah, a higher K-rate isn’t disasterous to a player like Ray. He can be an impact player at the MLB level.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN201105070.shtml Our closest no-no besides Nieves was Odell Jones, lost after 8.1 IP https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE198805280.shtml I watched the Odell one on TV, he was pretty much hyperventilating on the mound in the 9th. The lengths teams will let players go to get their no-hitters. Someone recently went some insane 140+ pitchers to get theirs. Though to be fair I think it was a perfect game.
I love how one move and a good game suddenly makes our offense this great beast. A week ago the sun was on its way to collide with earth and we should sell. Now the the forum is upbeat ready to reserve postseason tickets. Times like this make me honestly wonder if a big acquisition can actually make the clubhouse more upbeat and make the team play better as a whole.
Welp, to the next no-hitter tease I go... Since 2009, when I started watching the Brewers, I believe the closest to a no-hitter I have ever seen is Yovani Gallardo who got one out in the 8th before blowing it. I also remember some major scrub (Estrada) getting into the 7th.
Albers, Williams, Hader, Burnes, Jennings and Soria should be good to go Not sure on JJ or Corey This team could use more blowout type games to rest their pen while still winning. Being forced to really burn through our pen arms every win sucks.
The “anything he does on offense is gravy” argument is only valid if your offense is at least close to average to start. Then being above average is the gravy. Right now Manny Pina is just a raw potato. Still edible...still a potato...but certainly not good and not any gravy on it.

No. The positions listed on a lineup card are totally irrelevant except for pitcher. He doesn't have to go to the umpire every time Shaw moved from 3B to 2B and then to SS when the batter had 2 strikes. So you’re saying Shaw can play SS....
I hope we add a controllable starter just to see what they include in that package and what they do in the offseason. As it stands we have these fairly proven starters or prospects who are more than ready: Nelson Chacin Guerra Anderson Peralta Burnes Woodruff Davies(maybe) If we add someone controllable I would think someone has to go in that trade. Then even after that you are going to run into problems with that many guys going into 2019. That is just too many guys worthy of rotation spots. Depth is always nice, but those guys all have too much value trade wise to let waste away in the bullpen or AAA.
