  1. As the deadline month starts writers are starting to see the Brewers as a contender. MLB.com has a front page article thinking the Brewers should go big. If anyone sees an article regarding the Brewers feel free to post it. Hoping to get a collection of different looks on what the Brewers should do. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/239858466/brewers-built-to-contend-for-nl-central-crown/?topicId=27118122
  2. Glad we will get a top international prospects and one that is a bit more polished. Hopefully not another Gilbert Lara.
  3. I passed over your thread at first because of the reason you had for wanting to acquire Vogt. Jeff Bandy may be bad at framing, but I am pretty sure Vogt sucks at it to. Not to mention seems like a pretty minor thing for someone who doesn't start. When you posted this I didn't realize how much Bandy was sucking with the bat. Would have been on the Vogt train if I knew how bad Bandy was doing.
  4. Even if our chances to win it all are slim to none does it really matter? For us most predicted 65-75 wins. If we win the division and finish with 85 or so I think that would be ok in my mind. We aren't the Cubs. We aren't expected to win it all and have 100+ wins.
  5. It was a perfect play by the Brewers defense. Literally couldn't doing anything better. As for the play at the plate just barely got him.
  6. Stephen Vogt - 3 hits and 4 RBI in 4 days Jett Bandy - 2 hits and 0 RBI in entire month of June Another win for David Stearns.
  7. Ideally you would want one of those guys hitting with men on base and being the 5th inning you can give them a chance to pinch hit later on anyway. Just didn't feel it was the right situation only being the 5th inning? Maybe using a pinch hitter in that situation is wasteful? How many times does that pinch hitter honestly start some kind of rally statistically? I am perfectly OK not using a pinch hitter there.
  8. He just needs to be better than Bandy. Bandy also had pretty meh defense and his bat was putrid after a hot start. If he can be respectable offensively it will probably be a gain over Bandy.
  9. Take a video and give it to a local news outlet. School will be coming to the rescue real quick.
  10. Even with all the garbage filling out our bullpen Tyler Cravy seems to be...ummm...not on the MLB roster. So it seems he is still wrong.
  11. Austin you were so optimistic in that post yet our arguably highest ceiling pitcher is hopefully a backend innings eater? Now that Josh Hader is putting together another control troubled year inching towards the bullpen I'm not sure there is a guy who is a better pitching prospect than Luis Ortiz. Corbin Burnes isn't really known for having great stuff, but he has shown incredible control and limiting homeruns so far in his pro career. He could be one of those not so flashy low 3 ERA guys. He may be the only guy near Ortiz level. Anyway neither of these guys are 2017 options as a starter to stay on topic. Burnes would definitely hit an innings limit before proving enough for a call up.
  12. Ortega, Shuckers snap losing skid with rain soaked win over Barons Aaron Wilkerson picks up his team-leading sixth win of 2017 By Biloxi Shuckers Angel Ortega was 3-for-5 with a double and RBI on Thursday night (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: The Biloxi Shuckers got to the highly regarded Michael Kopech for four runs early on to power a 6-4 Shuckers win. Angel Ortega collected three hits and Clint Coulter knocked in a pair to lead the offense. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Aaron Wilkerson (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) started the game while Nick Ramirez (1.0 IP, H, BB, K), Josh Uhen (1.1 IP, K), and Matt Ramsey (1.0 IP, ER, K)provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Clint Coulter (2-3, 2 RBI, BB, SB) Angel Ortega (3-5, R, 2B, RBI) Blake Allemand (2-3, 2 R, 2B, BB) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Clint Coulter 2 RBI Single Biloxi Top of the 3rd Wendell Rijo walks. Johnny Davis bunt pops out to catcher Alfredo Gonzalez in foul territory. Angel Ortega singles on a line drive to right fielder Mason Robbins. Wendell Rijo to 3rd. Jacob Nottingham out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Mason Robbins. Wendell Rijo scores. Michael Choice singles on a ground ball to pitcher Michael Kopech. Michael Choice to 2nd. Angel Ortega advances to 3rd, on a throwing error by pitcher Michael Kopech. Blake Allemand walks. Clint Coulter singles on a soft line drive to right fielder Mason Robbins. Angel Ortega scores. Michael Choice scores. Blake Allemand to 3rd. With Gabriel Noriega batting, Clint Coulter steals (1) 2nd base. Gabriel Noriega grounds out, third baseman Trey Michalczewski to first baseman Cameron Seitzer.
  13. Evidently not or the Brewers wouldn't have used a 40 man spot on him. And if they were going to do that and he is actually pitching good in the minors, then it is time for the proverbial last chance. Plus he is stretched out versus most of the other options. Let me be more specific. Haven't we seen enough of Taylor Jungmann to know what he is capable of? His fastball is not very good and without amazing control it turns into batting practice really quick. Not sure 30 innings at AAA as a 27 year old with extensive experience in AA or above really means much.
  14. Unsure of homers that barely make it over the wall maybe two row into the stands and balls that weren't hit all that well? How dare he!
  15. A couple more runs and the bullpen will have a comfortable lead.
  16. Why so negative. Outside of Villar most of them are having pretty good seasons.
  17. Pretty much a spitting image of Jason Rogers. Maybe you could get a similar deal. Aguilar is a much better hitter than Rogers. Mechanically, approach wise, performance, etc across the board he's better. No idea what the market is for someone like Aguilar but he can be a contributor whereas Rogers most likely never will be. You have to find a team that views Aguilar as at the very least potentially a starter. That is why Rogers got us a decent return because of 150 ABs. If you can't find a team that wants Aguilar to start I just don't know if he can really garner that much. The Pirates were desperate for anything with a pulse and under the age of 30 that could play 1B.
  18. Haven't we seen enough of Jungmann? It is pretty obvious what he is.
  19. I never use the dail as a timer. Things toast so quickly and all the different things toast at such different speeds I never found the point to figuring out what to put it at for each item.
  20. I think the Brewers are trying to casually compete this year with internal or low key moves. Hader and Lopez were moved to the bullpen to help the bullpen. They must believe they can help the starting rotation by other means. Sure Hader could go to the rotation, but then you hurt the bullpen. I would much prefer Hader in the bullpen plus someone else starting vs. Hader in the rotation plus a disaster in the bullpen. Just keep Hader in his 2017 long term home without the flip flopping(for this year at least).
