  1. No thanks on a Quintana or other similar player. Sell the farm for a guy you control 1.5 years? This team isn't that good and what if it regresses next year? Would be a terrible disaster. When I think of us buying at the deadline it is for minor assets like a bullpen arm that won't cost a lot. You can find bullpen arms at a decent rate as long as it isn't a co trollable guy or elite guy. Maybe a change of scenery for the rotation etc. Selling off the farm is for when your team is loaded, elite, and already set up well and you know it. Like the Cubs trading for Chapman. The only other reason is if your window is closing and you haven't gotten over the hump yet. Definitely a terrible idea if we are maybe starting to open the window.
  2. Ok I am not going to get into who we could trade or the likelihood we are still doing well in two months or so....but of course it is possible this team could buy at the deadline. I don't see us selling off any major assets for help, but an under the radar type addition is plausible. The team is winning and if it keeps happening the team will be in the race. Heck right now they hold a wildcard spot one game out of 1st place. If that is the case in July why not make an addition?
  3. Should be where these two end up in July. Both of them hit would be a luxurious problem to have.
  4. Or have a good closer on the next contending team? We can't just keep flipping players non stop. At some point you have to hold valuable assets to make your team good. This is currently a .500 ballclub competing. If this team is very close or above .500 you could think about competing next year quite easily considering we have a lot of talent almostnready for the show and lots of freed up money. I get that relievers can have a lot of value, but if we want to win lots of games a good bullpen is so important and trying to piece one together is a risky business. I'm on your side, but if the market gets hot again and Gleyber Torres/Adam Warren type packages (obviously Knebel isn't Chapman but you get the point) come flying in I wouldn't think twice. Bullpen pitches are generally up and down year to year unless they're truly elite. That is the problem though he wouldn't get that impressive of a package. He is largely unproven lacking much of a track record. I doubt sticking him in the closers role is going to bring in good enough prospects to justify trading him. If he is good enough to get a big haul we should look to not trade him because he is that good. To me it really depends on if you think he is just having a career year or not. If you think he is a reliever who can be a lockdown guy for multiple years he is probably a guy we should keep. It really helps competing every year if you have a few guys at the back end to solidify it yearly vs. shuffling the entire thing all the time. Nothing like a great team being flushed down the toilet cause the bullpen is a dumpster fire. Regardless I doubt he is traded at the deadline as teams won't buy into his stats/results at that point fully. More likely a winter trade if anything at all.
  5. Maybe Stearns will quit the rebuild, sell the farm for a shot at a WS this season He could eventually make some internal moves if the team keeps winning. Brinson/Hader/Lopez could all make a notable impact in some form not to mention we are still without what is suppose to be our best starter. I doubt we make any notable moves to bring anyone in unless we really turn it on...but if we are on 88 win pace why not make some minor internal tweaks to see what happens?

  7. Davies looked like a little boy before. Now he looks like that kid in middle school who thought he could grow the greatest beard when in reality it is pathetic.
  8. 0-2 pitch and Bruce almost goes deep. Wow our pitchers/catchers give way too many pitches to hit on 0-2.
  9. I mean why not? He did very similar things last year: decent average, power, speed, and iffy OBP skills. He is a versatile player who plays acceptable defense and can hit close to average. He won't get the credit, but he is one of the most important things on this team. Versatile decent hitting bench bats are a great thing to have.
  10. But if you ask Stearns the defense is great.
  11. I would have to strongly disagree that 2B is a position of strength. We have two guys in the minors that are likely multiple years away and very much unproven. If you are trading Villar in hopes one of those guys replace him successfully in 2+ years is a bit optimistic.
  12. Doesn't really matter to me much knowing it probably won't be a lon stint anyways. So not sure I am sad some prospect does get 15 ABs in the next 10 days, know what I mean?
  13. Give Cooper a shot? He has typically always been old for his level, but he has mashed pretty good and has shown great power this year. If it is a short term thing and not really long term why not let Cooper have the shot he has earned to some extent. He was a 6th round pick so not like he is some journeyman.
  14. Zero because it would be foolish to think either is even nearly as good as their stats show. Both are maybe MAYBE average.
  15. As mentioned that is pretty easy to say when we don't even know if any pitchers were available. Heck we have a top prospect pitcher and I would take Brinson over said pitcher every chance. Because no offense to the Haderwagon, but the guy seems dangerously destined to be a reliever and not even a starter...and even if he makes it as a startermore like a mid-rotation guy. TOR pitchers are almost impossible to find and intentionally trying to find one sounds like the perfect recipe for disaster. When you end up with a couple late inning relievers and a Nelson/Peralta tell me how you feel. I would love pitching too, but intentionally trying to get it seems like a bad game to play.
  16. They have quite a few guys on the roster already who can play LF(Perez/Thames) so I don't see why it has to even be an OF. If we are burning an option of an OFer by bringing them up then pick wisely. Might as well pick one guy to bounce up and down all year for OF injuries(which with Braun may be quite frequent).
  17. Yah he was definitely satisfied that Felix gave up 3 runs against an elite line up where as Cravy put up a 4 ER dud in AAA at the same time.
