  1. I see Christine Michael is coming back. I hope and imagine they will get a third back to put back there.
  2. Every year I fill out my bracket saying this is WVU year. Being a fan of a BIG12 team I always think their style of play and talent will finally pay off. However this year they just haven't been a good team at the end of games and it kind of showed today.
  3. Oregon had two fouls to give - if they tried to get it down low they would have fouled on the pass and Michigan wouldn't have been able to get a shot off. I'm surprised that Oregon let them get that close to the 3-point line without fouling. That's fine they had 12 seconds or so. I'm not saying pass it inside to someone standing there. Drive it inside where you can throw it up if they go to foul you. If you are far away from the basket fouling is fine, but once you get close to the three point line any attempt to foul can be risky. If they pull up as you are about to foul and do a shooting motion you are in big trouble.
  4. Michigan loses by 1 and attempted a three point shot with everyone on the perimeter. I just will never understand teams doing this. Always leads to a horrible contested shots. Get the ball into the paint fast, try for a two, maybe get a rebound for a second shot, and possibly if you miss foul to still have another shot.
  5. They were good against the run because everyone just destroyed our CBs lol. I recall Demarco Murray lighting us a new one, and Zeke, other than that i'm not sure we really faced much else as far as run games go. Pretty sure Howard got us once too. No they were respectable against the run because they were respectable against the run. I'm not sure how getting lit up by an elite running back proves much. Most teams are going to do poorly when a team with a good back and incredible line faces them(Zeke). I'm not sure they were really really good, but they were probably a bit better than middle of the pack. If they can get the passing defense close to middle of the pack it's not hard for them to win a super bowl with their offense.
  6. Kind of pointless to decide whether it is a good or bad idea since we have nothing to go off to know what is currently offered. If we had some rumors maybe, but we really don't.
  7. I'd say Wisconsin has a decent chance to win it this year. Their half of the bracket is incredibly easy at this point(all things considered). The other side is a bit tougher, but you won't see that until the championship game and at that point it's the flip of a coin.
  8. Can't wait for the MLB debuts of Brinson and Hader.
  9. If the consistency continues you will want to trade it for a title. Consistency quickly becomes the norm and then it isn't so special.
  10. I think anyone would trade a couple of national championships for a few years of getting ousted the first weekend. This reminds me of the hypothetical question posed in the ML forum. Does one want a a guaranteed (ish) championship and potentially stinky performances to follow or does one want to be continually very solid with the hope that the dominos fall correctly. Except a little different as Duke is usually really good in the regular season regardless and highly enjoyable to watch. It's not like they are flat out missing the tourney etc. I'm taking the off years if you ask me. Nothing special about making the Sweet 16 a lot. All about Final Four appearances and Elite 8 appearances to an extent. I will take some early exits if it means more deep runs. Not to mention even with early exits I'm sure I still had a fantastic regular season which is just as fun.
  11. Villanova is/was quite a bit better than Wisconsin. I think Villanova was a bit overhyped this year, but still a very good team. Villanova had an off day shooting and it opened the door for an upset. Wisconsin shot the ball well and made it happen which is no easy feat. Wisconsin is looking good with an easy looking bracket that still remains. Florida and Baylor are two very good teams though. If a Baylor match-up happens Baylor could really give them fits. Wisconsin is not an elite program though. At least not by my standards. It has been a phenomenal run of 4 years, but elite programs are made on sustained success much longer than that. We will see what the coming years provide, but as you mentioned they are still living off one recruiting class to some extent. They also need much better performance during the regular season to be considered an elite program. The Badgers have been first only two times in the last 10 years and has been 3rd/4th six times. Elite, but can't even be 2bd in their own conference let alone 1st? Wisconsin certainly could be elite, but let's see if they can keep finding gems recruiting and start winning a bit more in the regular season.
  12. What a hideous finish for Witchita State. Down by 1 they just sit there with the ball winding the clock down just to shoot a three. Of course the guy gets stuffed. Why do so many teams shoot a three down by 1? Make matters worse after fouling they went and shot a three(needing it this time) and got stuffed again. Which isn't surprising. They had 12 seconds and couldn't set anything up decent.
  13. What's benching going to do? So he doesn't play for the first 10 minutes instead of sitting out the last 10 minutes of the first half?
  14. Brewers and only Brewers. You can't rep multiple teams in one sport...no, just no.
  15. But, would you have traded McCutchen 5 years ago to get the next Garret Cole because you have the next Mike Cameron waiting in AAA? If that's the trade being offered, I would happily move Broxton. I like how you talk about this hypothetical situation like these prospects are sure things. I mean yah sure if it worked that way who wouldn't? Too bad it's likely both don't get anywhere near their ceilings and very possible at least one dissapoints big time. That is the problem. Why gamble my known superstar like that?
  16. I don't think it is so much they think we always have to flip young players. I think some people think we are still in the trade for as many prospects as we can stage and we aren't. The Jonathan Villar extension attempt is pretty good proof the dismantling times are done. Now we are actually rebuilding the franchise and looking to add add add. Keon Broxton is 100% a building block if he turns out to be good. The guy is going to be around a long time and that's assuming we don't extend him.
  17. Agreed. However IF, and its a big if, Broxton plays the first half of 2017 like he did the second half of 2016 you'd have one of the most valuable trade chips in all of baseball. If Eaton could net that crazy Nats package, I can't even come up with a trade that could get Broxton with his years of control remaining. At which point it becomes "Why are we even going to consider trading him?" or "He is so valuable his performance makes his value so high no one can offer fair exchange."
  18. Shows the awful job the committee did too. MTS is not an awful team but the gophers had no business on the 5 line. Committee probably put them there to get upset.
  19. Well the madness almost started with Notre Dame, the best free throw shooting team, blowing it. Up by just 1 point and with 12 seconds they missed a free throw and Princeton had a shot. Princeton, down by 1, went for a three and missed it. Interesting end to say the least.
  20. Only way Broxton will be traded is if he were to be good, but a fringe to OK starter. There is no way he is being traded if he is borderline All Star(Corey Hart value) or better. He isn't FA eligible until after 2022. It would make little sense to trade him this early on or just in general. You aren't going to get the ridiculous value it would take to move him. Only way you trade him is if you truly feel an option in the minors is notably better. That problem is a ways from happening. We need to keep cheap controllable players now...not trade them. The only argument to trade him starts with the return including a near MLB ready bonafide starting prospect. Even then if Keon Broxton is a proven commodity controllable through 2022 trading him just seems weird.
  21. I feel like we did this last year, but I haven't seen it this year: Elite 8: Duke over Villanova Notre Dame over Arizona UCLA over UNC Kansas over Oregon Final Four: Duke over Notre Dame Kansas over UCLA National Championship: Kansas Jayhawks 75-69 Duke Blue Devils Typically I would do a bracket with Kansas losing and provide that, but this year I am going to just go with the "bias" bracket. Not sure why because I really don't like this Kansas team going into the tourney...actually I hate it a lot. Overall I didn't put a lot of thought into my bracket so I won't be too sad when it is ruined.
  22. Dang...sucks to hear that.
