  1. Are you referring to me? I am just stating a fact. Synthetic Testosterone helps build muscle/strength. I am not saying it helped him or that he was better than he would have been without it. Keeping him healthy/refreshed when he otherwise wouldn't have been is way more important than any difference in strength. Also you can't really point to 2012 and prove he is just fine without them. Because for all we know after getting caught he moved onto anabolic steroids that are undetectable. Which, yes, do exist and are likely used more than you would think in professional sports. It is a slippery slope and probably a good reason teams are a bit shy with his specific (and unique) PED past.
  2. Synthetic Testosterone helps athletes heal fast so they feel better and can train more. This is more a secondary effect with the main thing being building up muscle/strength faster. So Braun may have wanted it for healing purposes, but it was still helping him to build muscle mass.
  3. Ahhh another solid option. Another player I liked at the time.
  4. They aren't the Brewers. They actually make a good selection from time to time.
  5. You and me both. I don't always think I am an expert, but I wanted Gallo bad and REALLY BAD with that #38 pick.
  6. Not sure it has anything to do with the bonus pool. I think the $2MM is just $2MM, not related to either team's bonus pool? Well as he said the Cardinals had a $4mil bonus pool and now it is about $2mil....loss of about $2mil. The Astros now get the Cardinals draft picks(plus the bonus pool connected to them). I am guessing the $2mil is to cover the approx. cost of signing the two players they are picking up with those picks. Or it is a really interesting coincidence.
  7. I am taking Jose Fernandez in 2011 and after he doesn't sign I am selecting Corey Seager in 2012 with the pick.
  8. Heck, I think it's entirely possible given the connections to Miami that he was using all the way back in '07 when he signed his 45M dollar deal and wanted to ensure he secured a big payday rather than go year to year in case he was discovered. But none of us will ever know. It's all a matter of opinion. Could be true. I'm in the court that doesn't care much about PED use in that era because there was such a high volume using. Braun would've got money either way. I also am one that thinks he was breaking down and used to recover. Again, just opinion though. No one will actually know. Im sure that is the main reason a lot of players use PEDs. It helps players recover faster and stay fresh which then helps you put up better statistics not having to deal with fatigue etc. Of course spiking your testosterone will also help you become stronger etc. too even if you just want it for injury issues. Maybe someday PEDs are more widely accepted, but right now they aren't. Maybe 40 years from now we all laugh at how Braun was treated.
  9. This is probably not going to be a popular opinion, but I agree entirely. Ryan Braun signed a 9 figure contract at a time prior to any of his PED use being discovered, knowing that if he was discovered prior to the expiration of his first contract, it could cost him dearly. It was completely calculated. Very rarely do you see a star player sign away his entire career years at a below market value for him at the time. Not a coincidence. Yup...first thing I thought of when he got nabbed for PEDs. Of course that is a lot of speculation without much proof. This also probably isn't the place for it though as it is just going to offend a lot of people who believe Braun's PED use was a one time thing.
  10. They/He probably wouldn't allow a game used item to be signed. Though I could be wrong, but that is how it is a lot of times.
  11. And there is a high chance Braun is never on another competing Brewers team and at the same time producing at a high level. So it goes both ways. Brewers would be silly not to take Puk straight up.
  12. They had two years of Lacy where he was exactly what they needed.
  13. I don't know if I mentioned it here, but it was a strong rumor Ted Thompson might be stepping down after the season into an advisory role so they can move along with Wolf or someone else.
  14. What Don Capers had this year was a joke. I am not sure how you evaluate Capers with what he had. Maybe you can maybe you can't I don't know. Ted Thompson on the other hand might need to step aside now. He just isn't getting it done in the draft and a new vision may be needed. Let's be honest without Rodgers this team goes from NFC Championship run to 6 wins or so. He just has not drafted well for awhile and that is suppose to be his strength. Dom Capers may be the scapegoat since it can't really get much worse on the defensive side of the ball.
  15. Gunter isn't even a starting CB worthy guy and yet he has to cover the likes of Beckman/Bryant/Jones every week. That makes the job of making a defensive gameplan impossible already.
  16. So what do you recommend Capers do differently? Sure what he is doing isn't working, but what should someone do with the worst DB talent in the league who also has below average linebackers. I guess I don't care what they do with Capers. The defense will be garbage regardless unless a lot of players greatly improve and they go out and buy some talent in FA. Firing Capers is just a feel good move.
  17. You are going to blame Don Capers when the players don't even run the defensive plays right? Hardly are they ever doing what they are suppose to do and constantly make the mistakes. They had a free interception and I am not even sure the defender got his hands on it. His personal is straight garbage. They flat out aren't starting NFL players in the secondary and they are trying to cover the most explosive offense in football. Blame Capers? Yah no thanks. Give him some real players the. one can judge.
  18. Packers are a joke today. Can't make stops on 3rd down, Clinton Dix shoved the WR for zero reason on a 3rd and Goal for what would have been an idiotic penalty, missed field goal, and a fumble to destroy what looked to be a TD drive. Game is over
  19. I've wanted the Brady/Rodgers Super Bowl ever since Rodgers won his first one. However that would require us first beating the Falcons. When I look at it I think it is a brutal match-up seeing our defense sucks, but I also thought the same about the Cowboys. To be honest it kind of ended up that way. This game is much the same. Can Aaron Rodgers be unstoppable scoring 30+ points? Then can the defense keep it together to limit the Falcons? I won't bet on the Packers holding it together another week. I will take the Falcons 38-28.
  20. Defense wins championships in most cases if your offense is acceptable. All three of those teams offenses were pathetic.
  21. Didn't we have interest in Michael Saunders though?
  22. Nothing that is why all teams still heavily do it. However if you think that's all you need you are going to fail. The eye test also doesn't work on this forum because none of us are professional scouts and when comparing players unless both play for the Brewers we don't watch them enough to make a accurate conclusion. Statistics are better to accurately decide the value a player has or will provide in the future.
  23. I think part of the reason they play soft is so they don't get burned deep. If anyone wants to rewind to the losing streak we were burned deep way too much. I think playing prevent is better for the defense we have. It isn't great, but with Rodgers playing the way he has it wins games. They can't afford to get beat on huge pass plays for quick points. Just my opinion.
  24. You aren't buying low on Gray. You are paying a premium which would include multiple guys in our Top 5. Makes zero sense for us.
  25. The problem with that play is no one covered the flat. I don't know why such mistakes happen so often. The DBs seem to be on totally different pages on many plays. That pass wouldn't have gotten a first down if the DB was where he was suppose to be.
