  1. That is difficult to imagine considering the personnel losses they have had and the lack of upgrade in pitching. I like your optimism but I have a hard time seeing where it adds up. I think, considering the age and injury issues with the most important pieces of 2015 (Braun/Lind/Gomez/Lucroy), the Brewers ended up being exactly what they were. Hey I predicted them at 82 wins, too, but like many many others I was wrong. MLB is trending younger. Lucroy & Braun are on the wrong side of their prime, the rest of the roster is at or below average (other than perhaps Davis, speaking strictly in regards to offense) and the Crew plays in a tough division. We'll see what the rest of the offseason has in store but this looks like a 100 loss team, to me. Pretty damn close to the same win % right now. .420 last year .424 this year. Not sure you noticed but his comment is from January.
  2. Ok lets imagine this happened July 15th. Right off the bat the Rangers trade is never going to happen since he would be in rehab at the deadline. What team is going to trade for a guy in rehab and out till mid August? What team wants to trade for a guy just caught for DD and possibly Marijuana right before the deadline who has a pretty checkered past? I am going to say almost no team and any team with interest wouldn't be offering premium value.
  3. Tulowitzki is probably the best examples. There are some somewhat big differences(age at time of trade and position), but overall both are similar. While the Rockies picked up a lot more salary they did get Reyes, who isn't too shabby, for picking up that money. Obviously he didn't work out for the Rockies he had value at the time of the trade. All in all that is the type of return I would expect if we picked up $20mil. Which I thought earlier in the season when this topic came up and that's still pretty much where I stand.
  4. It is nice to see him check into a rehab center to hopefully get some help. It is also a sign this was most likely not a one time accident and we dodged a serious bullet.
  5. To be fair, Albert's 32 year old season might've been his 42 year old season. You never know. Ryan Braun could still be taking some good PEDs and ready to miss an entire year. Your turn. Point is there are many examples of guys who fall off a cliff in their 30s. Even more that decline due to chronic injuries. It's no sure thing for Braun, but enough where teams clearly don't think $80mil is worth the risk at this point.
  6. So just because you are consistent makes you age differently? I really don't think that is how it works. To throw a name out there though: Albert Pujols. He took a huge step back his age 33 year. I am sure there are more, but I simply don't have time to search for them. I found quite a few that had a drop of at 35 so that would be somewhat notable since that would effect half the contract years. The thing that scares team's most is probably his chronic injuries along with his age. Older you are the harder it is to heal and rebound from injuries. Also more back or thumb problems could really negatively effect him and spiral his career. You just don't know what is going to happen. I think between his age and the injuries no team wants to gamble $80mil on him.
  7. We are currently .5 game out of the #3 pick(not considering tie breakers). Right now we have a solid lead for the #6 pick with #7 a ways behind.
  8. Give me one example of when that has worked for us this year late in a game. Just one. And you don't have to go with Maldonado if you don't want to bunt. Could have called a PH. The Brewers suck. They don't do much right. They are likely to fail no matter what they do. I don't have time to find the data, but 1 out guy on third is better than no outs and a guy on second. It is valid to say they strike out a lot, but I don't think that means we should let a guy who struggles to hit above the Mendoza line swing away.
  9. I will SAC bunt in that situtation all day long when someone at the bottom of the order is coming up. Maldonado? Yup I am bunting.
  10. I don't really care about his career line because I was looking at this year. I just care how brutally bad he has been this year with the Brewers.
  11. This why RBI is not an irrelevant stat no matter how much the advance stat guys say otherwise. Being clutch is a thing. He would probably have 200 RBI if he was even the slightest clutch. 2 outs, RISP - .123 AVG Late & Close - .159 AVG
  12. Hader shouldn't even be in the conversation. Too bad if Colorado is hard. This is a statistics award and Hader has been quite dreadful in Colorado. Tough luck for him unfortunately. Woodruff with Perrin in the conversation for PiOTY and Diaz is POTY no contest.
  13. Chris Carter hitting .167 with RISP. Words can't quite describe how bad that is.
  14. Take away two horrid appearances early in the year and Tyler Thornburg has given up 4 earned runs in 52 innings. Thats a crisp 0.69 ERA. He has given up 2 earned runs in about the last 2.5 months. WOW
  15. He is the Miller Park ballhawk. He is incredibly annoying like most and just sits out there by the Toyota pretty much every game. Thinks he is pretty cool obviously.
  16. Assuming "cash" is something like $20mil I think the Dodgers are on board. I could see the Brewers saying no because they don't really want to trade Braun deep down, but that trade makes a ton of sense for both sides. I would hold onto Puig through the winter though and start him next year. Why trade him when his stock is so low? Could hit the mother load if he turns it around next year.
  17. Wouldn't it be something if it were the crew? Lol Makes little sense for the Crew to claim him.
  18. Regarding No-Trade clause: It is like a trade before the deadline. He can block trades/waiver claims by teams on his no trade list. A team is free to claim him, but unless they convince him to waive the no trade clause he is allowed to block the waiver claim thus forcing the Brewers to pull him back. Regarding Luxury Tax: I don't buy this as a problem at all. You are trying to tell me an approx. $5mil tax is scaring teams away from making a claim? Because the only year where this is a concern is this year's salary since a team can't really clear salary like it can in future seasons. Instead those teams are going to wait till the offseason and pay the money AND prospects? Yup, not buying that at all. Not to mention they would get him for one less playoff run. Any team would pay the luxury tax in a heartbeat.
  19. The way he acted and basically accused other's of botching the test he took when caught.. While other players have claimed ignorance as to how they took a banned substance, Braun went after a person... That's kind of funny. Talk to a lawyer. They're tell you to deny any accusation until the evidence proves you guilty. Let's look at what we know (or suspect). Braun took a product to help him recover from the really bad groin injury. The product helped him get on the field, and he likely was under the impression it would not show up on a test. Other Brewers reportedly also had unusually high tests that day, including Prince Fielder (though not high enough to trigger a red flag). There was a chain of custody issue. Braun and his representatives' jobs was to place doubt in the arbiter's mind regarding the integrity of the test. Denying is one thing. Going out of your way to call is a bunch of bull, questioning whether the collector tainted it, and a slew of other things is a whole lot different. When you know you were cheating and it was likely your test was indeed positive you should probably take the quiet road. I remember at first he was pretty quiet and released short to the point statements. As time went on he opened his mouth a little wider and that's where he dug himself into a big hole.
  20. I don't think so. How would you even see that on your TV? The fact Scooter Gennett saw it was fair and then acted like it hit him square in the balls tells you it definitely did not hit his foot. I could tell it hit his foot live. Both Scooter and Molina acted like it was foul. Craig doesn't even want an explanation. The whole thing was pretty much every Brewer/Cardinal game for the last 6 years. Scooter's reaction was clearly fake. If it hit his foot it grazed it and it wouldn't have hurt at all. Molina unfortunately fell for the fake reaction.

  22. Who even said that? To answer your question though...until you can start predicting the future. It isn't a sure thing, but when you start throwing around $80mil it gives a team pause.
  23. He is starting to look a little more comfortable plate actually hitting some balls hard. Still pretty lost the majority of his at-bats that I watch.
