  1. If the Dodgers paid the contract I'd take him as part of a deal IF we had a spot for him. However we do not.
  2. Guerra has drawn interest. It all depends how he is being valued right now. I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a Top 100 prospect or the equivalent in younger high upside talent. I like the way he pitches and he may be a solid mid-rotation guy. The start he just had in front of scouts may just get us quite an offer.
  3. I'm not stunned. This is pretty typical as almost all(maybe all) do it unless a trade is virtually done. Don't really agree with it though.
  4. And I don't think you can use Kimbrel as an example. That's like saying Lucroy won't be traded because starting catchers aren't traded midseason. However as we know Lucroy is about to break that rule. As a whole though one could probably agree catchers are not commonly traded midseason. In this situation I would probably agree relievers have less value in the offseason unless you are a very special player. I don't know many examples, but maybe being a controllable reliever changes that?
  5. Could be, but look at what Kimbrel netted the Padres in the middle of last November. Predicting the future of the market is, in general, a fool's errand. Craig Kimbrel was arguably the best relief pitcher over 3-4 years before that trade happened. You can always find someone to overpay for a guy like Kimbrel. Why? Because no matter the time of year he is the best available and the only one available. Smith/Jeffress are nothing special. There are many of them around the league and in the offseason I could probably find 15+ available for trade. You cannot compare the packages Chapman and Kimbrel got. They are miles better than what we are offering.
  6. It appears Braun is pretty much worthless prospect wise so adding him to a deal gets you nowhere.
  7. No, there is no point for them to be outside of no trade clauses. Which there is typically no talk of until a deal is in place. I hear people say the Indians thing probably doesn't matter because the Brewers have already talked about it with Lucroy's agent. That is actually very unlikely.
  8. Love the guy who called him out for not knowing information about the Brewers when he is a local guy. Haudricourt sucks for rumors and information in general.
  9. Agreed once I saw that report of them being "heavily in" on Lucroy testerday I thought they are right there with the Indians. I like Boston since they appear more likely to put a significant piece out there.
  10. I've really ignored Atlanta as an option, but perhaps they see him as an anchor for the young pitching over the next few years. Any thoughts on a Braves package? I don't know their system very well. Just curious what people thought. Key part to their interest is "extension". They have loved Lucroy for years and have wanted a long term catcher badly. Guessing they want him past next year. I just don't see them making the mega package it would take then handing out lots of money.
  11. Rosenthal says Braves wary of paying twice(prospects plus hypothetical extension).
  12. If they play Lucroy it should be at 1B. I personally wouldn't put him at catcher again.
  13. I like Boston as a strong dark horse
  14. Wish I felt the same way about the NTC being a non issue. Lucroy is no spring chicken when it comes to catchers, and the NTC is the only leverage play he has. I wouldn't be at all suspended to see him use it. I'm sure he would love to hit free agency a year early, where he knows he'd be looking at a multi year contract for around 20M a year, not 1 year for $5.25M. He knows he's going to a contender soon regardless of whether or not it's Cleveland, so he may as well try. He can use it as leverage, but asking for his option to be voided isn't going to happen. I don't think he would risk declining a trade to the Indians. He very well could get stuck here for the remainder of the year trying that. We all know he really doesn't want that.
  15. Heard the same about Gomez last year. Not buying it.
  16. Asking for his option to be voided would be downright stupid unless he really hates the Indians and doesn't want to be there no matter what. That would never happen and he might as well just decline. He would be better off asking for some money. More than possible they were put on his list because he didn't think they were competitive or very good.
  17. I always hear about all these SS we have, but I count three. There is Arcia, Villar, and Diaz. The problem here is that Arcia is going to be superior at SS defensively and worth putting in the line up on that alone. Isan Diaz should fit in at 2B fine so that leaves 3B. Mind you Diaz is no sure thing. He is way off. Rosario would be great for defense at 3B, but he has little in the power department. While that isn't a requirement it isn't like we have much power coming through the minors. Regarding Villar we can always trade him down the line to keep the MiLB system stocked. Rosario could be a lot better.
  18. This is terrible. Terrible? Rosario is a big time prospect. If this was the final deal I would definitely be disappointed, but it isn't terrible. Who knows how far into the process we are regarding Lucroy. Offers start low and work there way up. The offers will likely get better if this truly is the best offer right now.
  19. If you guys are posting rumors from outlets could you guys by chance mention the source? I like looking up the rumors and keeping track of who is saying what. Trying to do this better myself and it's always nice to give a reporter credit anyway.
  20. I honestly see the no trade clause as a total none issue, NONE. I'd be shocked if Mr.Iwannaplayforacontender even tried to get a dollar. Saw a rumor Boston is HEAVILY in on Lucroy from MLB Network or Radio.
  21. Not really surprised by the Ray ranking. He was arguably the top available player in the draft and was a college player(closer to MLB ready in theory). The top guys of the draft typically will start popping up after #30. That being said I hate when brand new prospects get ranked that high, but it is what it is. In a year 75% of the highly rated guys will drop.
  22. I am so sick of hearing about the Mets and how we should get back at them for what they did. They agreed to a deal, saw the physical, and then backed out. He had legitimate injuries and the Mets look like they made a brilliant choice as he has had injury issues often with the Astros and the production has been poor. On another note even Moncada is untouchable to Dombrowski because ownership would never let him deal Moncada on that big bonus they gave out alone. Being a Top 3 prospect is icing on the cake.
  23. Have to think this is likely the end of the line for Lucroy. If a significant package is on the table risking injury at this point is playing with fire. I would expect talks to really pick up now since he isn't slated to play till tomorrow night. If I am the Brewers and a deal is not struck by tomorrow's game he should continue to sit.
  24. There isn't interest in him anyway.
  25. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=mil Brewers have 5 prospects within the Top 100. No surprises My thoughts: •Surprised where Gilbert Lara is ranked. •Josh Hader should higher on the Top 100 list. •Having guys like Gatewood/Kirby near #20 just shows the depth we have.
