  1. Jake Gatewood has been on fire lately, but until he learns to take walks he is never going to amount to anything.
  2. And even Nelson isn't that good...#3 type pitcher by his performance so far. A lot of luck seeing his BABIP is near .200.
  3. Our two major trade chips are doing good so far(Braun/Lucroy). Jeffress has also done pretty good and they shouldn't be afraid to trade him either if a nice offer comes in. So at least our big prospect getters are doing well in the early season struggles.
  4. You left off JJ. Perfect in saves so far, if he can keep that up (and get enough opportunities) he would be a shoe-in. His stats really aren't that good though. Then again 3/4 of his ER came in one outing so maybe a tad harsh in the big picture. I did put Nelson on there and Jeffress has just as good of a chance I guess.
  5. Which isn't that bad because most teams have problems with their catching position. Something we could always trade for or sign on the FA market.
  6. If Lucroy got hot this summer, Braun stays healthy/productive, and I was a team with big needs on offensive with weak links at C/OF I would honestly probably think long and hard about it. That would be a massive non rental upgrade to an offense. Massive. The problem is the Nationals have a need for Giolito next year to replace Strasburg. If they has Strasburg for another 2+ years maybe trading away Giolito would be something not too crazy. The situation I think that would need to exist is something similar to when Profar was a big time prospect with no obvious spot in the near future.
  7. Why can't we just do that with one of the guys we already have? Thornburg? Capuano?
  8. I must be missing why we need to rush and put him at 3B right now. It is a pretty minor move to 3B. It isn't like it is some type of major move. There really isn't a point to put him there now. He will be moved off of SS to 2B/3B next July at the absolute latest. He will have plenty of bad/losing baseball to get used to it.
  9. Or one could just save the money and throw a league minimum player out there because it does not matter at all.
  10. You can't make errors on baseballs you cannot get to. Unbelievably bad range can help one's error totals, but not the overall defense of the team. Melvin liked him because he hit some HR's. LOL Yes I realize that. Yuniesky Betancourt wasn't as bad in 2011 as he typically was. Advanced stats would support that. I think he was worth -3 runs despite typically costing as much as -20. I am not saying he wasn't bad, but he wasn't the death of the team as some people make it out to be.
  11. Hader almost went 6 innings.
  12. That is true to and probably a more natural fit seeing his lack of power. He really doesn't have a future at 3B unless we literally can't find a "real" one which I dearly hope doesn't end up being the case.
  13. Dude has a .551 OPS. I'm scared to ask what you expected. Who knows...I guess some people on here expected straight zeros across the board.
  14. Gift from Ed Sedar's twin over there in the 3B box.
  15. That line-up is depressing...because of that I predict 5+ runs today.
  16. I here you on the Mat Latos, but much like in the off season I still don't think it was a fit. Matt Garza was a good bounce back candidate himself so it didn't make sense sending him to the bullpen to assure to have his contract rot. I am not saying there weren't solid argument to send him to the pen or even release him, but realistically it just was an option and wasn't going to happen. Then comes Jungmann and sending him to AAA which I also don't think was a great option. He got destroyed at AAA and did very well at the MLB level till late in the season. I just don't think dumping him back to AAA was a realistic option either. In the end I didn't think it was a fit or feasible without some questionable moves. Our rotation was set and just because everyone sucks now doesn't change that. Back in January the rotation had no more room and you could argue there were more than 5 guys deserving of a spot. Latos just wasn't in the cards.
