  1. You know what sucks worse? When they get the call wrong.
  2. WOW...Lucroy with a good throw to 2nd? Amazing. Hope scouts were in attendance today!
  3. If there ever was. He has been hitting incredibly well for his standards this early in a season. Just wait till he heats up in June/July, yikes. Scared the crap out of me last night when he took that foul ball straight in the mask... It could happen just that easily, one more concussion makes him damaged goods, which is why I am all for trading him as soon as the right offer comes down the pipe... That is the only concern with Luc. He is one of the best offensive catchers when healthy...but another concussion would be bad.
  4. Unlikely? Right now he would be a lock. Has been one of the Top 3 in all of baseball at 1B so far. Now whether or not he can keep this pace or slightly below it for two more months is obviously questionable, but then again I am surprised he has stayed hot this long. I would say he has a decent shot at an All Star bid. That being said that has nothing to do with the home run derby as they changed the rule to allow non all stars to be selected. Yoenis Cespedes took part in 2013 despite not being an all star selection. Unless it has been changed back to the old rules he doesn't need to be an all star.

  6. They might have a shot at losing 100 games, but they'd have a REALLY hard time being worse than the Braves.... I mean the offense is pretty shotty as it is. I can't fathom a Braun/Lucroy/Carter-less offense with this pitching staff.
  7. I honestly think this team has a pretty good shot to get the #1 pick if this kind of pitching continues. If we were to trade Lucroy, Braun, and Carter maybe the people claiming we have a shot at the worst record in franchise history aren't that crazy. I mean we are getting slapped around by the Reds on a daily basis(pitching wise)
  8. This rotation is something else. The first year I started watching the Brewers heavily was 2009 and this is giving me flashbacks. Except we have no offense to give someone a 14-7 record.
  9. You are right in the fact average is slightly above average in general and depending on the position above average. Like a 90 OPS+ is below average in general terms, but for a catcher that would likely be about average. Which is what I would expect from Lucroy in 3+years making him average...but as you said that might put him an inch above average due to so many below average. I think you just made the situation more complicated than it needed to be...you are still right in what you said though. No matter how you want to slice that apple Jonathan Lucroy wouldn't be worth $15mil+ either way and that is the point. If we really want to complicate things we can start a conversation on the inflation in baseball and if it will continue at record pace. Because then maybe an average catcher is worth $15mil+ and it would not be a total overpay. Then again the concern for injury and the risk of a great decline would still make it too risky for us and probably not a good idea.
  10. -"having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully." -"(of a person) efficient and capable." -"acceptable and satisfactory, though not outstanding." Though I see where you would think is lesser than average because it is usually used in a very negative way and usually with the word "not" in front of it.
  11. It is reality TV you are not in a minority at all. Us humans have a weird fascination with watching other people's lives. If there isn't some type of reality TV you like then you would be in the minority. I think I only watches Friday Night Tykes and it was OK...I probably just watched a boring episode though. Deciding to watch reality TV is a dangerous game...watch a few episodes in a row and you are likely to be hooked on it. Even if it isn't something you think you would watch.
  12. You know what is more repetitive than the commercials? The weather delay videos...
  13. You say that now until half the prospects we are counting on flop.
  14. Why can't we just do that with one of the guys we already have? Thornburg? Capuano? We could do it but Milone has a chance to be be a redeemer while a guy like Cappy doesn't do much for us. Helps us for the 2017 draft... Milone could probably do better than Capuano, but it's not like Milone is going to build any trade value. Doesn't really sound like a good investment.
  15. I don't really know how much higher Jeffress' value can really go, but I do know any second he could turn into a pumpkin and be worth a bag of balls. Just look at Axford, he put up two incredible years and then BAM nothing. Whether it be the deadline or the offseason I don't think it is worth the risk to hold onto Jeffress past this year. He isn't an elite reliever and some stupid GM will overpay for him. The Giles thing better be a ploy or else we are wasting a huge trade chip because no one is giving us that kind of deal. Heck is be happy with half the value the Phillies got.
  16. According to Ken Rosenthal the Brewers would need to be blown away to trade Jeffress. Possibly a return similar to what Ken Giles commanded. He mentions their strong relationship with each other as a big reason they are reluctant to trade him. With all due respect I think it is a bit ridiculous the Brewers reportedly want such a ridiculous return for Jeffress. Jeffress isn't even in the same dimension as Giles and in all honesty Jeffress isn't anything special. Don't get me wrong he is a solid reliever, but not up there with the elite. Relievers fall off the earth faster than they land on it. How many times do we see a reliever put up an incredible season or two and then suddenly become average at best? Way too often. I am not saying we should be taking the first offer, but I don't think we should be asking for the moon times ten.
  17. Competent=Average Signing a catcher over the age of 30 is something we would regret before the ink even dries. Why would we sign any player over the age of 30 to a contract? That just isn't a good idea. Maybe if we were ready to compete next year this could be a worthwhile risk, but we would be extending him years before we would be competing. So for the next 3 years we would be praying nothing happens to Lucroy or we will have a replacement level first baseman getting paid $15mil+(Joe Mauer type situation). I think the fact the Brewers flat out told Lucroy no on extension talks is pretty telling where their relationship is going.
  18. Which makes the Alcides Escobar comparison not really that off. Escobar has had two season pretty close to what you described. Escobar has just been really inconsistent and had a lot of stinker years. In the end Arcia has the potential to be a 3-4 WAR SS and that would make him one of the games best. So I would say he does have the potential to be a superstar at one of the most premium positions in the game. Whether or not he becomes a superstar there is going to depend on how much pop he actually hits for at the MLB level and if he can keep his average up. Because if his average drops to say .260-.270 he is going to kill almost all value on offense thanks to his poor OBP skills. One of the most disappointing things in recent years is the fact his OBP has steadily gotten worse.
  19. Not to mention Lucroy in 3 years will probably be competent at best. When his offense drops off he won't be all that special. I don't know why one would want us to overpay now when we can get a 33 year old Lucroy a lot cheaper in 3 years and also have the prospects from trading him.
  20. Notice how the Wooing stopped. They are on there way out to the parking lot. Wooing turned into sobbing.
  21. Wasn't that Mr.t plush. No actually 99% of the time I am defending Hill. It is all in fun...don't take it too seriously.
  22. Aaron Hill becomes just the 4th Brewer in history with a 7 RBI day. EDIT: I guess he is the 8th...last time I trust the Brewers website.
