  1. I'd agree if we were picking down in the draft, but there are only 4 picks before us. It is very likely to be someone we have heard a lot about. Most of the time the unexpected is due to going underslot, but if that is the case Delvin Perez would be the pick.
  2. The velocity thing can be really overblown. Pint isn't the first 100mph HS kid and a lot in the past tone it down to 95-97mph. I can't remember who but one of the better starters right now threw 100mph in HS but dipped down after being drafted. All I am going to is if the Brewers pass on Groome/Pint and one becomes an elite starter I will never let it go.
  3. I think all it means is that Milwaukee will have to pick up more salary if they deal him. If he's playing well in July, teams will ask. If he's on the DL, they won't. It gets to a point where no one will even have high interest in him. Health issues are never great for trade value and I can't imagine what a Braun physical would look like. There is only so much money the Brewers are going to pick up and once that limit is reached the return in prospects will decrease.
  4. Well it is hard to really predict the life of a stadium because we don't know how things will look towards the end of the lease. Is Attanasio tired of the Brewers and looking to send them off to a larger market just to cash in big when he sells them? I doubt the Brewers would have much bargaining power for tax dollars after how the Miller Park tax turned out. I think Miller Park will last a long time though if you ask me. It was built with a long life in mind. I think it will continue to have improvements and still be a solid stadium till 2050 at the least. When you think about it even these new ballparks aren't anything special compared to Miller Park.
  5. Yah the cripple Braun is starting to reappear after nice health to start the year. I don't see the nagging injuries stopping and I don't see anyone trading for him. Though desperation in July can make teams do dumb things.
  6. Doesn't really need to be replaced. Arlington just wants them to stay and there were multiple cities, mostly Dallas, that wanted to try and entice them away. Easiest way to do that is with a new stadium and Arlington could do that now so the Rangers have no reason to leave. New stadiums are mainly just big bargaining chips at this point...not a need.
  7. Braun commented on the trade speculation, but his statements were extremely generic. So generic that I don't really think they mean much. He states"I have no control over those things" when he actually does with a large no-trade list. Here is the article for those curious. http://www.wtmj.com/sports/baseball/milwaukee-brewers/milwaukee-brewers-ryan-braun-addresses-trade-speculation
  8. I mean anyone is available. I'd probably send Arcia packing real quick for Urias or Giolito or Sydergaard.
  9. Unless someone wants to value him as a frontline starter he isn't going anywhere.
  10. What are the reasons to keep him in the minors? There is the argument that he hasn't been efficient and needs to work on going farther into games. However we all know the real and only reason he is(almost surely) going to be in the minors till September at the earliest. To save a year of service time and avoid Super Two service time. I could see the argument if this team looked like it could compete next year(or heck even 2018), but we are not. We can afford to hold him another year and then get him that MLB experience. The problem is we aren't going to compete in the near future so rushing him is unnecessary. I would love to see him this year so he can start gaining that experience, but losing a year of control for it? Maybe not.
  11. Josh Hader is not being brought up. All you guys are doing is beating a dead horse. No...no...no. There is no legitimate reason to outweigh keeping him in the minors. I would be shocked to see him called up. Doesn't seems very Stearns like. And upsetting Hader and his agent is a bunch of Bologna. Every agent knows how the process works as does every player. It has been this way for years. It would effect NOTHING in the future. What is he going to walk away for $10mil less because years ago we held him back a year? No I think not. You offer him the most money or what he wants and we can have him as long as we dream.
  12. I think 10 picks would be a good idea. It really wouldn't be any more challenging than 5 picks. Heck I have heard 10 guys just as an option at #5.
  13. Or you know...just let him pitch at AA and wait till next year when he is called up. Why mess with something that isn't broke. He isn't getting called up and sending him to Colorado would just do damage. Careers are short. He's capable of starting in the major leagues now. It's not like he's being blocked. He needs to learn if there is something he's getting away with against minor leaguers that won't work against big league hitters. Not only that but Brewers still need to sell tickets and create a buzz as they go through this process. They are doing just fine selling tickets and Josh Hader is not going to dramatically change that. They are ranked #16 in average attendance and that is pretty good for what we are trotting out there. You can slice it any way you would like. Josh Hader is not coming to the MLB roster. Brewers have long term goals and they aren't going to ruin that to sell a few extra tickets.

  15. Pina to me is of no interest. He is hitting well, but then again he has had AAA experience for 6 years and is nearly 30. Pinto is somewhat interesting, but from what I can see his defense isn't the greatest. In a lost year I would rather start Maldonado for his defense and having experience with the pitchers. His offense can't negatively effect anything, but a bad defensive catcher can hurt our pitchers.
  16. Hader is not being called up. So next option.
  17. Carlos Gomez arguably had the second most productive season in franchise history back in 2013. Not only that, but for every knucklehead mistake he probably had 3+ amazing plays. Complaining over his base running mistakes makes no sense because even with the bad plays his value on the bases probably doubled anyone else on the roster.
  18. I'd say dump Capuano and move Peralta to the pen, but I don't really want him as a long man in that situation.
  19. Wait...people had to pay to read that? There is a dissapointment.
  20. Martin Maldonado has 23 at-bats on the year. He hardly plays what exactly do you expect someone who hardly ever plays? Everyone tries to defend Walsh and he has 3x the amount of playing time as Maldonado. Also Maldonado has 7 walks to 5 strikeouts. Anyone else does that and we would be applauding them. And the reason he is still on the team has nothing to do with Peralta. It is the fact we have nothing better. The reason he catches Peralta is to give Lucroy an off day. Lucroy can't play every day and since Maldonado/Peralta like eachother why not do it that day? Interesting fact. Due to his defense he has actually provided a 0.4 WAR so far this year despite no playing time.
  21. Look I don't care what they do with Walsh...because honestly it doesn't matter in a lost year. However, I don't even know what we have in Walsh because he hardly ever swings at the ball and even when he does it looks like he isn't just trying to foul them off. I would hope this is not what he did in the minors. If it is I don't think he will ever find success at the major league level. That approach is never going to work. Walks are good to a point, but you can't just be looking for them every at-bat. I wouldn't send him back since, like some have said, there really is no need to. Let him hit .095 the entire year. If they think he has some potential then more power to the Brewers.
