  1. Yeah it does work in lower levels. I think it would've been a better call with no outs, if it was a call at all. Butcher Boy is another one that worked pretty well in prep baseball. I remember hearing that is a little frowned upon in pro ball though because of the dangerous position it can put a 3B/1B in.
  2. Dakota Huson is pretty underrated among fans. His Fastball/Slider combo is nasty and it sounds like the Curveball/Changeup are both decent. Probably a pretty good pitcher that can move through the system fast. He may not have the ceiling of some of the other options, but he is a lot less risky than a HS arm and still has frontline potential.
  3. He went out onto the field and started cussing out the umpire. I don't think it was just because he went back onto the field.
  4. That's Chris Carter for you. He will go through bad cold streaks and you are just going to have to live with it. The Astros always tried to rest him in a slump and it never really worked.
  5. But then we remembered that we are playing in Miami and it wasn't even to the warning track.
  6. You know what happens when you can't pitch Braun inside anymore? Dude hits .375...
  7. I don't understand why so many people hate on players like Harper/Gomez. God forbid someone gets passionate about the game and tries to have fun. Seriously I want entertainment and guys wanting to win. I always hated the dislike for Gomez because he was passionate and wasn't a push over. You say something to him and he isn't backing down. We need more players like that who don't just strikeout and walk back to the dugout thinking about how it will effect their wallet.
  8. I would rather give Scooter Gennett at-bats over Hernan Perez. Gennett started off the year really well and he should get a chance to play every day. See if he can build on his value. Once Hill is traded that will give plenty of time for Perez to show us if he is any different. What is the rush? If Perez shines in the second half of the season then in the offseason we can look to trade Gennett(if he isn't traded this July).
  9. There's such a double standard when it comes to PEDs in MLB, versus PEDs in every other sport. It's very bizarre. It is all about how each league goes about it. In baseball the league makes a HUGE deal about it. You don't see that with the NFL.
  10. Other draft related rumbling in that the Phillies may not take a pitcher at #1.
  11. Jason Groome has had two rough starts in a row. Though after his second outing scouts mentioned his maturity afterwards answering questions etc. Groome has actually been falling down some boards not for his maturity, but just for on the diamond reasons too. One scout said he and his scouting director don't think Groome is a Top 5 talent. Groome is slated for a couple innings today.
  12. I love sucking because paid articles are free! PerfectGame has us taking Delvin Perez(SS) at #5. They also have all Top 3 pitchers gone before we pick. http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=12434
  13. Well at this point Villar isn't going to be moved to 3B because Aaron Hill is hitting pretty well. He is a solid veteran player and should be easy to flip at the deadline for a prospect or to save money.
  14. Yes he is going to 3B baring an unlikely Scooter Gennett trade.
  15. Because baseball is a business...and you want to make money at the end of the day. Paying $30mil to Trout is a pretty big hit to the bottom line. An owner being rich means absolutely nothing. Just simple calculations they already have guaranteed contracts equaling $132mil for just SIX players in 2018(Gave Harper $20mil) if they added Trout. Their highest payroll was in 2015 at $169mil and that was them maxing out. I know at the deadline they were really reluctant to add too much payroll. It would be a tight fit and in my opinion really risky. If you end up with a few black holes in 2017 or 2018 and you may run into a big problem. Payroll would be maxed out and they would have no money to fix the problems. Dare I say having to plug in a Yuniesky Betancourt type player to fill the roster. I think the Nationals need to add someone, but just not that big of a splash. It is too costly to their payroll and to their farm system. I think Ryan Braun would be a much better fit if the Brewers pick up some of the contract.
  16. Those days were just miserable...that and him looking like an idiot on every breaking ball on the outside part of the plate.
  17. And Villar gets out on what was likely to be ball four. Though I guess with this umpire anything could be a strike.
  18. I have a hard time watching this game...the Marlins have made double digit mistakes.
  19. Washington hangs up the phone. Trout is a great player, but all three of those players have seriously high ceilings. They are just prospects, but I will take the risk. All three of those players have the chance to be one of the best at their respective position. Nationals are a great team for the long haul and they, in my opinion, haven't even peaked. Trout would be a massive hit to their farm system and a lot of money added to the payroll. Also could the Nationals even afford to pay Trout? They just had to pay Strasburg $70mil in deferred money to make his contract work.
