  1. If he was the center piece talks fell apart in a few seconds.
  2. The Hayes play is debatable from all the college basketball I have watched this year. They don't like calling fouls like that at the end of games and the big difference maker was the fact no one had the ball. For most Refs they let it be a free for all. To be honest it was a good no call like it or not. Notre Dame played great defense at the end of the game and forced the Badgers to make mistakes. To win tight games you have to beat the press and the Badgers could not do it.
  3. One can blame the refs all they want, but in the end the Badgers literally handed the game away.
  4. Yah Smith and Jeffress are both major chips. Both of those guys could warrant a Top 100 type prospect. Peralta is also quite valuable if he gets back on track. Braun and Gennett....wouldn't call them big pieces.
  5. I may have only watched Maryland this one time, but wow I feel like that team is poorly coached. A team that shot a horrid 1-18 from beyond the arc in their last game started off bad again and decided to shoot another 25 3's?! I know towards the end they got in some foul trouble where driving to the basket was risky, but they were firing off threes the entire game. Not to mention all they do is run the same boring play to get someone into the paint. Seemed like a really weak game plan with no in game adjustments.
  6. You know it is easy to call a bluff until the team gets together relocation proposals and plans. If you are the city are you really going to say "Try Me" is they threaten to leave and say no? These sports teams are huge to local communities bringing in a lot of money and many great jobs. I don't think there is anything wrong with asking for money to build a stadium. This isn't different from bringing in other businesses. You always see cities help businesses out to come to their city. However I have a hard time with what the D Backs are trying to do. They have a perfectly good stadium and are trying to get over $100mil? That I just can't agree with. Yes these owners are swimming in money, but this is exactly how businesses work. These teams can leave and go to another city if they want. If you want them you have to pay up to keep them around.
  7. Well, how old is Turner Field? It was built for the 1996 Olympics. Not saying anything will happen but the days when stadiums lasted 3 or more generations is over. Rams left St. Louis because the owner thought the Edwin Jones dome was no longer up to standards and its barely over 20 years old. Will Miller Park still be around in 2050? It may, but it'll be one of the older stadiums if it is. Turner field wasn't meant for baseball and just isn't really all that great of a set up. It was kind of thrown on them and they want their own stadium built for their needs. A lot of these stadiums that are having short life's were just built poorly without the future in mind. However, since the turn of the century there has been more focus on sustainability in the long run. I don't think they will ever last 75+ years like some used to, but 50 years is realistic. The biggest limiter in the future will be owners pressuring cities into building new stadiums vs. truly needing one.
  8. I think they want to move in the burbs similar to what the Braves are doing.
  9. I just think it is hard to really sell out these games when it is such short notice. Hard to plan a long trip across the US when you have 5 days to get there. Is Louisville really going to sell out a Kansas/Maryland game? It isn't anywhere near either of those states. Really you ask for these kind of crowds when you put them on a neutral court like this. Fans aren't going to travel across the country for a Sweet 16 game and the host city isn't going to sell it out to indifferent fans. On another note I really hope Kansas can end up in Milwaukee one of these years. I was considering tickets if they ended up in Chicago, but those tickets to the United Center are ridiculously expensive compared to other places. Louisville had tickets going for $14 and at the United Center they were pushing $90. I imagine the Bradley Center was closer to Louisville prices.
  10. They aren't going anywhere so the better suck it up.
  11. I thought a lot of the day's Maldonado started were on days Peralta started. Both speak Spanish so it kind of makes sense. Not sure it really means anything.
  12. There was a strong band at the top of the storm that ended up giving the more impressive totals. Eau Claire ended up with 10.5 and locally higher amounts to the south and to the E/NE. I think the highest amounts were to the NE of Wausau. The Green Bay area was supposed to end up with a lot, but not sure that actually came to fruition.
  13. I will take the 100 losses easily over 82 wins. This team just isn't going to put together win streaks. The rotation, while not bad, it is not very good. Unless guys step forward it won't be doing any favors. I also see the bullpen taking a step backwards too. K-Rod was good...really good. I don't care what you think Smith/Jeffress won't be better than him as a closer. Not only that but that is one less dominant reliever we have for next year. That is going to be a bigger deal than people think. The offense is going to be a work in progress all year and overall most likely worse. Now I don't think this team will lose 100 games...but 82 wins? You are crazy if you bet on that over 100 losses.
  14. Not really outside of the title. Nothing Lucroy said made it sound like that was the case. Though he made it pretty clear he expects to be traded at some point. But surprised he hasn't yet? No. The fact that he doesn't have a place to live in Milwaukee yet 12 days from Opening Day pretty much removes all doubt as to whether he is shocked to still be a Brewer. I missed that chunk the first time. Skipped over too much trying to ignore the Brice stuff...because honestly I didn't care about his problems. Interesting he thought he was going to be traded 5 different times this winter. Must mean a lot of talks have been going on.
  15. Not really outside of the title. Nothing Lucroy said made it sound like that was the case. Though he made it pretty clear he expects to be traded at some point. But surprised he hasn't yet? No.
  16. Really? How many times did Doug Melvin hold onto a player in a losing season just to get only a comp pick? Zero...I count zero. How many times did Doug Melvin even have a "losing team"? Which in this case, to me, is defined by knowing you won't compete before the season starts. Doug Melvin hasn't been in this situation the past decade so the Melvin comparisons just don't add up.
  17. The snow is suppose to come in the late hours through Wednesday night. The daily temps aren't going to matter when the nightly temp is going to be well under freezing.
  18. Correct if I am wrong, but the tickets schools get the rights to are more behind the basket and in the corner spots. They act like student sections on each side. Because if you watch a game that is where everyone is clustered.
  19. Amazing Wisconsin could make it to the Elite 8 winning against Pittsburg, Xavier, and ND. What an amazing draw from them. A year where anything is possible.
  20. They are pretty expensive...not something a college fan is going to buy. That is for the rich.
  21. Good call on the Pac-12. Kind of funny that AZ was your sleep pick after that statement. Only Oregon left from the PAC-12. If you look I changed my mind on Arizona later on. Good thing too. I ended up having them lose in the first round.
  22. The end of that Purdue game was tough. I looked and it states he made the shot at 4 seconds so the ball was probably let go out of his hand at say 5/6? Almost anyone you talk to will say not to foul till it is less than 5 seconds. Before that can be a bit of a risk so rarely(even ever?) will you see someone foul with 5+ seconds. The other thing that makes it tough is the fact you don't want to foul when he is shooting because then he gets 3 free throws. It isn't as simple as some like to make it. It sounds good in theory, but not as simple when actually playing the game. The guy hit a three...sometimes luck just isn't on your side. Can you imagine if they fouled with 8 seconds, made 2 free throws, they fouled Purdue with 7 seconds, Purdue misses both, and then Little Rock either hit a 2 point jumper on the other end or drew a foul to make 2 free throws? Then Purdue losses in an even worse situation. Really not that crazy of a scenario either.
  23. In other news when you listen to a guy call games 81 times a year you might find something annoying about him. I am impressed you guys listen to the announcer way more closely than I thought people did. I find them as a nice background noise for the most part. You just need a nice solid voice and you are golden. Just don't say anything stupid. My biggest pet peeve: The daily "guess where the tavern of the game is located in Wisconsin" game they play every day with eachother. Brian also always has to ask if Bill has ever been there. Never fails if it is outside the Milwaukee area. My favorite is when it is on I-94 and Brian has to talk about their yearly road trip to catch the Twins series.
  24. Looks like you chose well. Nothing like banking on an upset and getting it right. Can't say I picked Michigan State to lose though.
  25. I'm not sure I can agree with that when it comes to Brewers games. I went and watched some highlights and I didn't feel that way once. I don't particularly like his NCAAB game calling. It isn't bad by any means, but it is pretty clear he isn't that knowledgable or experienced on NCAAB. I feel like to call NCAAB you have to freak out and loose your mind over plays...act ridiculous to some degree. Not really Anderson's style.
