  1. Jean Segura is not getting anything close to a Top 100 prospect. I would take Sardinas over him value wise to be honest and he got us some fringe prospect.
  2. I would love to see proof of that. His one huge defensive positive is framing pitches and I don't know if making pitchers depend on good strike calls is all that great. I also don't hear many preaching his game calling in general. Most think he is pretty average in that sense. I would never overspend million of dollars on Lucroy for his ability to help young pitchers. He is no better than any other veteran I could get for a fraction of the cost.
  3. Why do we need to be blown away to trade Lucroy? If someone gives a nice package I am taking it and never looking back. If he doesn't start performing closer to his 2014 numbers his trade value is going to decline rapidly.
  4. Clancy there is no competing with that depressing rotation. Unless Hader blows onto the scene and is the ace everyone wishes, Lopez becomes an instant #2, and the rest over perform and aren't all #5 starters that team won't do squat. You are trying to rush a rebuild and the trades don't make sense. Not only that but even if they did the team is still below average.
  5. That rotation is straight garbage. I'd be surprised if we won 70 games no matter the offense.
  6. Yah I honestly have no idea because I have never seen where the player isn't on the roster already. Maybe it is possible...unlikely that is the case even if it is allowed.
  7. I'd rather go after a non 1B/3B who may actually be something than one of the many Matt Clark type players you guys are mentioning.
  8. Well, they have 40 slots, so they might as well use them just in case. Put the best 38-eligible on the roster and leave two spots open just in case someone interesting slips to you, another team wants you to take someone for them and you can make a trade, or another team has to remove a player and you can make a claim. Well it isn't that simple because leaving them off is attractive because if they don't get selected you won't have them on your 40 man. If you put them on your 40 man then you have him stuck there or risk him getting claimed by another team if you pull him off which is worse than if he just got selected I the Rule 5
  9. No, I am almost positive that the player must already be named on a list on the current team.
  10. Actually...in my experience deer hunting (not going this year due to two little kids in the house), snow isn't a bad thing. Sure, it'll be cold, but a little snow on the ground makes it MUCH easier to track deer. Very easy to see red in show as opposed to gross, mud, etc. A few inches is fantastic. However, a half of a foot or more plus it going on right in the morning at it's worst is not a good thing. Storms can get deer moving, but in my experience is is usually just before or at the start. I heard up north, where I usually hunt, is having a fantastic opening day though weather wise.
  11. Seems that wasn't the case this time. Though I don't live right on the lake, but pretty close.
  12. Well I don't have the time to hunt anymore, but I can help but think of the horrible opening day people are in store for tomorrow.
  13. Come on now, no one would put him #1 over Arcia.....He is his number #2 prospect
  14. Why else would they add someone in the lower minors with horrible stats to the 40 man? Seems like a guy you would at least just risk losing...unless of course he is needed in a trade. hint hint
  15. Such horrid injury troubles though. His days as a starter are probably gone as his arm is just not going to handle it. I'd invite him to camp on a minor league deal if he wanted to. Strictly as a reliever though. EDIT:We would have to claim him and stick him on the 40 man roster for the off season until he can be moved to the DL. I think it is a good idea if they think he is a better option than other Rule 5 eligible players.
  16. Clancy's #1 prospect has yet to be added to the 40 man roster.
  17. Good I didn't like Sardinas at all. There was absolutely nothing special about him. Now we have two players that are extremely versatile. These could be two huge players on our bench when we are competing again. They are so versatile we can afford to take on a good hitting player for our bench without that players lack of versatility killing us(think Rickie Weeks). By 2020 both will be very experienced.
  18. I don't want to make this any more off topic but... Your logic to rationalize a way to compete next year sounds a lot like me when I play MLB The Show. In the end I am stuck with a horrible team that is old, expensive, too many major holes, usually depleted farm, and not good. I think the first year I won 84 games and proceeded to slip into the 90+ losses for half a decade.
  19. Smart of Stearns to get the old stuff out before free agency starts to ramp up. Will be easier to go after bounce back candidates etc. if we get guys like Lind/K-Rod out.
  20. Couldn't get him one in 2011. Wouldn't give him one in 2012. Wouldn't give him one in 2013 after what happened and his sub par 2012. Not to mention he was signed way after promotions are announced. In 2014 he signed pretty late once again past promotion announcement. Probably could have given him one this year if he was going to stay, but obviously the team knew that wasn't going to happen.
  21. For a rebuilding team it makes no sense to trade current value for current value. It would be addition by subtraction and we would be in the same place. The teams that would trade for Jose are teams already good that can trade away future value(prospects they don't need right now).
  22. Yuni played first. This guy can play first. Yuni was about as useful at 1st as the 1st base coach was.
  23. Doubt they would even consider trading Bradley though. That guy is about half a season of good baseball at AA from shooting up prospect lists. Meija also has some serious future potential. But if they really felt like Khris Davis would make a difference it wouldn't be the most unfair trade value wise I have seen. Though money is on the Indians looking like total fools in 3 years if they pulled the trigger.
  24. I think Villar goes between 3B and 2B to be honest. He isn't that good defensively at SS and doesn't have a future there anyway as Brewer. If we are going to pay $3mil for Segura we might as well let him have full playing time and hope he creates some trade interest with a good season.
