  2. I think Pujols has a better shot at it, honestly. He's at 553 with 6 more years on his contract after this, so it's certainly not impossible, although odds are that age and health will get the best of him well before he gets to 762.
  3. On the other side of his struggling, and I'm sorry for bringing this up for a SP, but they always like to say on broadcasts how he crushes it in BP. He has has a career OPS of .208. That is .012 higher than Ben Sheets. Heck, Jim Abbott had a .190 ops for us and he only has his left hand. Yeah, I know, he's a pitcher and the pitching stats are what matter. But he's 245 lb, strong as heck, and I'd like to see him help himself by smacking the ball a little.
  4. It was the cc game I was referring to. I guess I may have mis-spoken there, remembering now that replay doesn't cover hit vs error.
  5. I agree with adam and plush. Let a no hitter ride. I was glad Fiers didn't lose Pederson there in the 8th.
  6. I'm not necessarily a replay guy, but if it had been in place in '08, that might be a different story.
  7. Yeah he's dealing, it's on MLB here. I wonder if the Astros made him lose the neck beard or if he did that of his own accord. I wonder, if I were an MLB manager, at what point does a pitch count matter when a no-no is on the table?
  8. I wish I could say I've watched him. Everything I read about him commanding while mixing up arm slots at-will, to give the hitters different looks and speeds, makes me hopeful that he can turn out well for us in the bigs.
  9. Nats record includes Expos. Vlad, at 234. So, another 1969 team.
  10. Definitely, 'stache. The Yount reaction/interview tells it too. Even Greg Vaughn, who had 355 in his 15 year career. It was exciting watching him develop from a kid to becoming the 30 year old 950 ops guy he was for us in '96. But we all knew at that point we had to trade him or else lose him at the end of the season for nothing at all. Though on your last point, I will say, I wouldn't want to give some cards fan the smug satisfaction of telling me that Mathews and Aaron's glory was with the Braves, not the Brewers. (aside from Aaron's last 22, of course)
  11. I think on 2-0 the appropriate sign would be one that means "Pounce on a fastball over the plate. If it looks like any off speed pitch, then take."
  12. I got curious as to how many MLB franchises had a career HR leader with less HR than Milwaukee. In case you were wondering, it's the Rays, Marlins, Padres, Dbacks and Nats. One more for Braun and you can add the Mets to that list, as Strawberry hit 252 in his time with NYM. edit: forgot dbacks.
  13. LE- I'm not disagreeing with you. But do we know this? I've heard it said many times. But, does the union actually let MLB single out a player and test them more than the other players? How much more was Braun tested in 2012? Again, i'm not arguing. I'm just curious if there's proof he was tested as extensively in 2012 as we all assume. Because that would be very interesting to learn more about.
  14. A big part of it is the lineup (protection, other hitters to fear in the batting order) and the fact that we are more often than not playing from behind. He's still a very good hitter and he's the guy the other teams go into the game with the approach "let's not let this guy beat us today."
  15. That is indeed what I'd call one of life's proud moments.
  16. Matheny using Broxton there is a little confusing, but it gave us a nice win. Thanks, Mike
  17. Air con or drastically improved ventilation would definitely top the list for me. Roof closed MP is a cooker, just ask Shaun Marcum. Others: -I'd like to see better efforts put into both the quality and speed of the food vending services. -The entry turnstyles seem to be designed with the intent of making men sing falsetto. -I know it's an MLB security ruling, but who cares if a fan has a small pocket knife in the stadium? -Immediately switch the jumbo tron to a view of the appropriate OF corner when a ball is hit that way. When it's close to the line in the corner, almost half the people in the stadium can't see the play.
  18. Maybe just rare. Good point. I knew my folly as soon as I typed "treat." Knebel looked tough today.
  19. It didn't equate to anything but Herrera had a nice approach on an 0-2 count there.
  20. Would have liked to see Peralta stay butcher boy in that AB. Bunting with two strikes doesn't seem to work out so well for us as a team.
