  1. Yeah I think this is kind of why they've been reducing the number of rounds over the years (and this last year reducing the number of minor league teams overall). Too much filler in the minors and a lot of it is just a waste of time and money (For both sides really, it's not like the low minors players get paid much anyway). The whole point this comes back to is there is a lot of freely available talent, sure it's nice to say we got something for a guy like McKinney or Knebal but really you're not actually gaining anything of value when there's an unlimited number of lottery tickets playing in the low minors, or independent ball, or 16 year old Dominicans, etc that can be had for virtually nothing and are realistically just roster filler.
  2. And every team in the league would take an extra late-round draft pick if it were given to them. Even though they know the player picked probably won't make the majors, they would select someone they liked with the hopes they could turn into something. Is that why teams used to punt away late round draft picks on someone's nephew or some guy who plays another sport and will never sign?
  3. Trust the Bucks?
  4. Well luckily both smashes to 3rd weren't a foot or two in either direction. It worked, time to win a baseball game!
  5. Save your breath. I’ve been banging this drum for awhile now. You keep your best strikeout pitcher to strand the runner. This isn’t rocket science. I disagree. This isn't an extra inning game right now. The worst case scenario is losing the game in 9 innings with Hader never coming into the game. I mean he pitched yesterday, I'd rather he didn't come into this game unless its the 10th or to save the 9th. Now it's an extra innings game, what do you do?
  6. This is so dumb. This is Kameron Loe has to pitch the 8th because he's the 8th inning guy dumb. This is having your #2 hitter bunt in the top of the first after the leadoff hitter gets on dumb. This is using Randy Wolf to pinch hit with the winning run on 3rd in the 14th because you can't burn your backup catcher dumb. Craig was different the first few years.
  7. Yep...this isn't even a top-10 pitching staff. Another year where you look at the stats vs. the W-L record and wonder how Counsell manages to pull it off. My gut reaction says luck. But the Brewers have outperformed their run differential for a few years now under Craig.
  8. Now, Craig really needs to be a little smarter here. We've dealt with this runner at 2nd rule for a while now. SAVE YOUR CLOSER FOR THE 10TH!! Especially with where they're at in the lineup. This should be a no brainer.
  9. As bad as the offense has been this year, they aren't actually good at run prevention either. They do have four pitchers who have been outstanding and when three of them are starters and one is a closer, that's pretty good. All others have been replacement level or worse though.
  10. Maybe so people continue to shell out money for ballpark food? With what I've experienced now, I will make sure to eat before or after a game and never buy the ballpark food. I don't care about the money aspect of it, price increases don't matter to me if the food is decent.
  11. It really should've been a few months in AAA for Hiura but I get why you'd rush him back when no one in the lineup can hit.
  12. I haven't seen the scoring, but I think a hit, then an error for it getting by Tatis and allowing the run to score and then a throwing error to allow the runners to advance right?
  13. Not sure if you're watching the broadcast but they showed a picture of David Weathers and his wife with infant son and Miller Park under construction in the background. Now that infant is on the mound pitching and Miller Park. Amazing.
  14. It's just weird. I've never seen a young player struggle like Hiura has. He gets more centercut pitches than anyone, but it's by design because he cannot hit pitches out over the plate. I guess I wish I know more and wish I could diagnose what's wrong with the swing and why it's missing these hittable pitches.
  15. Yelich has been paid his money. Tough to feel sorry for him if he's now Chris Davis. You feel angry at him more than anything. The struggling young player who's never established himself, whose career is on the brink is the type I'd feel sorry for.
