  1. You do understand though that if we're looking at the pen as a whole, a guy like Devin Williams who has given up 4 runs in 5.2 innings and Yardley who has given up 5 runs in 7 innings maybe get outweighed a little by Lindblom who has now allowed 13 runs in 10.2 innings?
  2. every team needs a mop-up guy that can eat innings. I'd hope he doesnt pitch any high leverage innings, but he's fine for the role he is in for the money he makes. No, today is the perfect example of why that is not ok. A long reliver sometimes needs to make an emergency start or enter in the first inning when a starter is injured. Giving up an additional 8 runs over less than 4 innings is something most minor league pitchers at any level could do if put in a big league game. When people say eat innings, they don't mean pitch 3 innings at a time and give up an unlimited amount of runs.
  3. I mean they have 5 guys in the pen with an ERA over 6. It hasn't just been Lindblom. They also have a 9 man pen right now and bringing up ERA when you have guys who haven't even pitched 9 innings yet is a joke
  4. Well I'm usually really against position players pitching and I think it's done far too often in games these days but today might be one of those days.
  5. I will be much more concerned if that's the case at the end of August. It's still a little concerning now. They have numerous guys that pretty clearly aren't better options than your last guy in the pen. If Devin gets legitimately back that will help a great deal. I haven't really seen Perdomo pitch and I am eternally skeptical of guys with zero MLB track record but it's been so far so good for him. I hope he can be a legitimate option. I mean it's a good thing nothing actually matters other than the W/L statistic. If they have a statistically worse bullpen because guys like Lindblom get shelled in blowouts, who cares? I doubt he'll be on the roster much longer anyway
  6. On relievers, Hader has 8Ks of the 11 outs he's recorded thus far. 0ERA. If your 9th inning guy is a lockdown somebody is going to ignore the others some bit this early in the season before trade deadline. Offense, well 3 of ypur top 5 highest paid players are on the IL. Something also that gets an overlook. 5th is an easy power ranking right now after the Starting Pitching. Come trade deadline the offense and other relievers outside of Hader will have to carry the pitching in Sept. Wonder who will be our Wade Miley/Chacin this Sept. Yeah any overall bullpen numbers are misleading right now since they've had mostly large wins and several uncompetitive losses. There has been a lot of low leverage middle relief and garbage time innings.
  7. One thing I’m fairly certain of at this point is you and I have very different definitions of the term “noodle arm”. I didn't watch it, were they all over throws like Baez the other day? Or what I would imagine, three shorthops that Huira couldn't handle?
  8. Didn't get to watch this one but holy cow, three throwing errors for noodle arm at SS? How is that even possible in one game?
  9. Ground ball back to yardley, looks the runner back to third, throws to 1st for one out, runner at 2nd had his head down and was running to third on contact, ends up standing on third base along with the original cardinal runner at third base, vogelbach after catching the throw from yardley runs across the diamond over to both runners and eventually both are tagged while standing on third base, one is called out.
  10. Now that I think of it, I wonder if Suter was a little hurt on his last swing? I didn't see anything but that would be the only thing that makes sense.
  11. Why would you have Suter hit for himself and not come back out to pitch? They have four left on the bench. Six is a lot but it's not like a 15 run lead mercy at bat.
  12. After a rough start, Huira is absolutely crushing the ball today. We'll never know the exact adjustments made or the amount of help Haines has provided the last few days but Huira looks like the 2019 version today.
  13. This has been an outstanding day for Huira at the plate, absolutely smoked the ball every at bat.
  14. That was an average amount of pitches to throw in a start from the beginning of baseball until about 10 years ago. Now all of the sudden starters are gassed after 6 innings and 75 pitches.
  15. I feel bad for anyone who would buy a Bucks ticket these days with lineups like this one they trot out there.
  16. Like I get it 20 years ago when we started to figure out 120+ pitches was a bad idea and can lead to injury. 74? I don't think today's pitchers have regressed far enough to where they can't handle more than 74 pitches when dominating. Just idiotic modern day mismanagement.
  17. It very well may have been fair but you can't really make that call based on the camera angles available. You really can't get a good look unless you are right no the base like the first base umpire is.
