  1. One of the better ideas for rule changes I've seen.
  2. Today's statistics are completely meaningless when comparing today to even 10 years ago. It will be laughable when you look back year's from now and see half of today's QB's in the HOF.
  3. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30531397/mlb-reclassifies-negro-leagues-major-league Long overdue
  4. There are other things that go into a contract like a team flying his family to X amount of games, hotel accommodations for family, the use of sweets for family, trade restrictions, etc... Lol, yeah that's it.
  5. Outstanding post. I recommend making this a new thread and sticking it at the top of the forum.
  6. Would have been exactly what they deserve for not playing the Purdue and Nebraska game even though they were not at the number of positive tests for an automatic cancellation of the games.
  7. This year doesn't count for eligibility for anybody, no matter how many games the team or player plays.
  8. I think sometimes people take analytics way too far. We know starters tend to do worse the third time through the order, that does not mean pull your cy young ace in the 6th when he has been absolutely dominant because we've just hit the third time through the order. Analytics does not provide a strict book for all decision making, there has to be some situational awareness.
  9. That’s a huge understatement. I wonder if MLB has seen a worse regular right side of the infield than Weeks and Fielder. Both were well below average. Not only were they bad, but the numbers probably fail to fully quantify it since their defense led to the other players having inflated error totals. We had Betancourt and McGehee on the left side too! And people wonder why Kameron Loe blew games sometimes.
  10. Mariners have an all-time .470 winning pct vs a .481 for Milwaukee. That means Mariners, on average, go 76-86, Brewers 78-84. Mariners have a four-season stretch where they went an average of 98-64, 14 winning seasons out of 43, compared to Brewers 17 of 51, they have five hall-of-famers largely associated with their franchise (possibly 2 more with Ichiro and King Felix). I wouldn't in any way say that Milwaukee has had "significantly" more success, unless you are weighing recent results more heavily. Milwaukee has a pennant, more division titles (assuming you count 1981), more post-season appearances, and as you pointed out, a higher overall winning percentage. I think it's significant.
  11. The Mariners haven't even made it to the World Series yet. There aren't many teams out there where you can say the Brewers have had significantly more success over the course of their team's history, but the Mariners would definitely be one.
  12. I'm not making a point here or anything but I find it kind of hilarious that Sogard finished 8th on the team in WPA and Hiura second to last. I mean that is absolutely remarkable to have a .560 OPS and a total of 10 RBI on the season and have a positive WPA.
  13. I liked when they went to 5, it was a postseason expansion but at the same time putting a huge emphasis on winning the division instead of in the past basically making the WC a fourth division champion. Finding a way to expand the postseason while putting a huge emphasis on finishing top two in the league would be alright, can't really do a bye longer than 4 or 5 days though so the three game WC round series would have to stay.
  14. Its not so much bunting to sacrifice that I wany to see, its bunting to beat these insane shifts. The Justin Smoakes of the world have no place in the game if they're trying to pull the ball to right with no one standing on the left side of the diamond. Contact hitters are today's undervalued commodity.
  15. He was an embarrassment all season Gonna be a big first couple of months next year, pray to god this isn't the future Yelich
  16. Pay a guy 200 million dollars, I would hope he could maybe find it in himself to run hard to first in the 9th of an elimination game
  17. I'm glad since COVID started I've gone from working about 50% from home to about 95% from home so at least I can make my Brewer watching productive by getting work done because this is a brutal team to watch. I haven't been around as long as some here but have been following every day since '98 and it's between this year '15 and '02 for me, just awful baseball teams.
  18. Kershaw is really good though, even if we had a top flight offense, I wouldn't expect more than a run or two off of him through 7.
  19. I'm not saying they're terrible throws, it's just they're highlights, I can bring up a sweet double play highlight from Betancourt from a few years ago too. There have been a number of plays not made this year too, by him and others in our infield. Maybe part of the reason for all the complaints about infield hits a few weeks ago.
  20. Maybe check again... Link #1 Link #2 Lol, and neither of them got there on the fly, and only one resulted in an out. Boy if those are the highlights, I'd hate to see the blooper real
