  1. I mean he's struggled but he's still one of the best bats in the lineup. We're not at the point where we can not play a guy with a .725 ops.
  2. Dan Jennings pitched 64.1 Innings over 72 appearances in 2018 with a 3.22 ERA 12/14 with a lead (11 holds 1 save). His FIP was 4.09 but you basically always see a higher FIP with a contact pitcher. I don't think he belongs in the same category as trash cans like Albers or Boone.
  3. Might be the best offensive performance so far we've seen this year. A lot of solid contact.
  4. This bunch has to have more strike outs than any other team in the bigs. We began to see this trend last season. In recent years the Brewers have always been a high strikeout team but that really doesn't matter due to how much power there was in the lineup. To be among the league leaders in strikeouts and be near the bottom in slugging percentage, like this year, is just completely awful. Small sample or not, we're a quarter of the way through the season, it's not likely for season numbers to improve drastically.
  5. Yeah sometimes guys who strikeout a million times and post a .400+ babip their rookie year may come crashing back down to earth in year two.
  6. I never understood why we hired him. I'm firmly of the opinion that one should never hire a "good" hitting coach with a great reputation. That way when the bats go cold for the whole team at once it makes it really easy fix to just fire the hitting coach. In some sense all baseball coaches are hired to be fired, but that might actually the case for a hitting coach. I get what you're saying, but man that sounds really stupid.
  7. Between that and how they've decided to use Hader you've got two big time managing head-scratchers so far this year. Why would Brock Holt be in a lineup with Urias on the bench like ever? Unless it's an injury thing
  8. It's just a bad lack of fundamentals. There's no reason to field that ball to the side and spin before throwing it.
  9. Good to see teams execute, moving runners over, getting the ball in play with 2 strikes, etc. I wish we could do that.
  10. We are 15 games into a season in which we've had a staff of no less than 15 pitchers for the entire year and there's a position player on the mound before the 35th inning. This is absolutely ridiculous.
  11. I think this is a very good take if this is the plan going forward. I'm holding out hope that when Knebel gets back to form, they'll go back to using Hader in the role they did in 2018 when he was soooooo useful. I get the feeling this is part of a plan to limit early season usage given how many double headers there may be to come, how few off days there are on the schedule, and the longer post season.
  12. Well that's baseball. One of the worst lineups and worst performances you can imagine but they got great starting pitching, a scoreless setup inning, and a closer to finish it off. That's a win. Great pitching is king.
  13. Can't bank on a .400+ BABIP every year. Need to cut down on the whiffs.
  14. Why? He has always had a pretty huge K rate. The 70 grade on his bat. Obviously he's still very young and developing but it's a bit concerning so far.
  15. There might literally be a hole in Huira's bat. I never expected him to have as much trouble making contact as he does.
