  1. It's never all or nothing. It's the journey and following your team that brings joy. Lesser accomplishments are still great. I will never forget the pure joy of watching the Brewers win the tiebreaker in Wrigley last year. Even if it was only to win the division. I'll never forget the run in '08 and what it meant to us to finally see the Brewers in the postseason. Mathematically speaking, if you're like me and have three pro sports teams that you follow (and assuming it's a roughly even playing field, which it certainly is not in baseball) you will see on average, one title a decade. I think I'll try to enjoy more than one day every ten years as a sports fan, otherwise this truly would be torture.
  2. You realize we get off days between the WC game and DS right?
  3. Has Tyler Austin ever played first base before? Good god
  4. It would look bad for the Rockies to have 4 men on base with no runs in. It's been a long season...
  5. I know it'd look really bad, but would it be the worst thing to just intentionally walk 5 batters in a row and get out of here?
  6. It's the big leagues, these guys go out and get drunk all the time on the road before a day game the next day.
  7. Where should he play next season? 1st base.
  8. I like Keston Huria, he has a great bad, but there is no way he is a 2nd baseman going forward.
  9. An outstanding month of September on the mound has fueled this massive run. Another day, another great start with good bullpen work!
  10. Good find! I'll see ya'll Tuesday.
  11. +1. I'm not going to look it up, but didn't the cardinals recently win a world series as a wildcard team with something like 86 or 87 regular season wins? Basketball is seemingly the only sport where the best team almost always tends to win a 7 game series. In baseball, any team can get hot for a month and make a run. Back in '06 the Cardinals backed into a division title with like 84 wins, and they won the world series. You don't even have to get hot before October.
  12. No it absolutely would not be like that and is in no way comparable to the NBA, are you new to baseball?
  13. Yesterday was not the best day, but in other news... The Cubs... LOSE! 1 Game Back 18 to play Lets GO!!
  14. it was a trade of players that weren't on 40-man rosters in 2019--that's what allowed for the trade to happen. either club can add the newly acquired player to its 40-man roster at any time. i misread the previous post for eligibility on postseason play, and have since edited it. neither player is eligible for postseason play, but could be used through game 162, or game 163, if necessary. Got it, thank you for the clarification.
  15. Did Walsh ever hit 22 homers and ops in the mid 800s? Grandal has like two in the second half with a .223 average and an increasingly passive approach, he has a very empty obp.
  16. Is he allowed to be added to the 40 man roster this season? Given that this trade is after the trade deadline
  17. I got to 18 earlier this year, that's the biggest streak I've ever had.
  18. Why is CC so afraid of his starters going thru a line-up a 3rd time? If your pen is taxed what do you have to lose? Actually I take back what I said for tonight
  19. People have a very poor understanding of probability. You have to take chances on seasons when you're in the race. You cannot give up and sell every time there are holes and you aren't a big time favorite. The more seasons you have in the race, the more seasons you have a chance to win things. Obviously if they had a very low postseason probability (like 7+ games back of 2nd wc at the deadline) go ahead and sell, but this season is certainly worth a shot and is not over with the 2nd wc. This year the brewers being in a race was lame. They were a bad team. This whole it’s baseball so we might win 20 in a row is just not a good strategy. There has to be some underlying reasons to be optimistic This team sucked out loud. The signs were everywhere. If he could have got some good future pieces for trades it should have been done. But I. Of the opinion we really had nothing to give up. So you just gut it out this year and be crappy Case in point Fans thinking they need to win 20 in a row when sitting a couple games back of a wild card.
  20. I would've probably driven into a ditch when he said "caught at the wall". But seriously it was close, Perez was standing and watching at the plate, it was a leaping catch at the wall.
