  1. Do not hate the Frelick pick by any means just feel when you have a potential superstar like Watson there and a large bonus pool you should pull the trigger especially when you have such a poor farm. Good point with the Marlins possibly working out a deal a head of time though. I’m a Sal Frelick fan now and wish him nothing but success. His size is concerning to me though.
  2. There it is what a joke. Wish our Farm director had a lick of balls. But nope gotta stick to the model that worked so well so far.
  3. Khalil Watson would have been a home run for this farm system. I really hope he falls out of the first (meaning he isn’t signable)
  4. Just saw we took Frelick with Watson still on the board. Either he is unsignable or Milwaukee is taking Ls all over tonight SMH. Our farm system is 29th ranked. Maybe it’s time to deviate from the player model we lean so heavily on apparently hmmm.
  5. I've never been able to actually determine if the 'not within the division' stuff is actually true or just the feeling of us fans. The lack of intra-divisional trades in sports period shows there may be some smoke to that theory. But there are a multitude of variables at play there. Tough to say for sure. But hypothetically not taking the best value offer because it came from a team within the division would be extremely foolish if selling. Maybe that happened before the analytical age.
  6. If not in the comp or even more preferably the second round Jordan Wicks would be as disappointing as it gets for the Brewers. Wicks is safe, but man I just do not believe that he is a first round talent by any means. Middle (ceiling) to bottom of the rotation type of guy with decent stuff. Put the cojones on the table a go for upside here. Doug Nikhazy would be a much better value later if we’re going for that Ethan Small archetype. Harry Ford is an electric bat you can see the ability pop. Such a quiet load, so quick to the ball, and so many tools to work with behind the dish. Absolute unicorn if he sticks at catcher comparable to JT Realumuto when it comes to the tools. Bat plays at any corner spot. We also have arguably one of the best catcher development depts in all of baseball.
  7. Lord that would be a haul with the first two picks! Sign me up!!!
  8. The Mock on MLB Pipeline has us taking Wicks again. Which is just as meh and disappointing IMO. Unless he would go for major under slot value I think there are much better prospects with more upside at 15. Albeit they come with more risk. He’s more of a late 1st to 2nd rounder in my eyes.
  9. Would love Aguilar back in the fold for a reasonable package. Can see us using Turang as a major trade chip for an impact bat as well with Adames under control til 2025 and Urias starting to look more competent at the plate. Could Hoskins be feasible?
  10. Have had some downtime to look at guys for the first time in a good while. Not crazy about taking a guy like Hoglund. It’s not the same situation as Buehler. Buehler’s pure stuff was head and shoulders better before his injury. I’m actually liking a lot of the higher upside prep guys Benny Montgomery- Probably one of my main crushes this year. The hitch in his swing can be fixed IMO. He is a 5 tool guy by definition and even with that little hitch in the giddy up the raw power he generates is probably close to the best in the class. Certainly has some of the best wheels in the class to boot. Saw some comps to Pence but I don’t think he is near as awkward and unorthodox. Have to believe in the hit tool and its improvement as he develops though. Up the middle guy so you know Stearns and co. have him high on the board. Harry Ford- VERSATILITY another thing the crew really values. This kid could stick at C with our developmental staff or he could play second as well heck maybe even COF. Certainly has the arm and power profile. Did I mention he can run too? Haven’t seen a catcher with these natural gifts for a long long time. He’ll be comped to Biggio because of that rom the jump, but he can make a name for himself. Really powerful hack with little to no effort in the load phase. I think he hits as well. I’m a fan Peyton Stovall- Smooth as silk swing. Can play a damn good second base at the pro level. Word is crew have been keeping a close eye on him. LAD have been extremely interested as well that should tell you something. Really really gifted prep hitter. Other tools lack but you can see the pop potential with the bat. Joshua Baez- Classic projectable COF with plus raw power at the high school level. A lot of swing and miss. A lot. He is a massive high schooler though with a rocket for an arm. Swings as hard as his namesake counterpart in Chicago. Needs to make more contact. I have to watch more of him but he doesn’t really fit the Brewers MO. Khalil Watson- Wont be there so I won’t bother. Big big fan. Top 5 teams will be getting a bonafide stud that is super advanced for his age. James Wood- Another massive “kid” if you can call him that. A lot of swing and miss as well. Swing is a bit long but if he starts to make more contact as he develops you can see a Judge like profile. Im not an expert by any means, but this is a really fun prep class with really interesting guys. I wouldn’t mind a college pitcher either but I really want to go for higher upside this draft with the 10th largest bonus pool. Let’s swing for the downs and land another future star! Side note... I do not see anyway where we don’t draft Doug Nikhazy at 33 or in the second. He is just too weird and misses too many bats not to. Feel our analytical staff will be all over him in the same vein as Ethan Small 2 years ago. He screams Brewer and while I don’t love the raw stuff I love the competitor. I wouldn’t be upset if we do that given we go high upside at 15. It’s draft SZN! Looking forward to hearing more thoughts and opinions from everyone as it finally approaches.
  11. Yet a game out of a playoff spot. Team can only improve, right? One can hope but some sense of direction for the franchise would be nice. TBH I was actually hoping for more moves to signal a punt on the season. Mediocrity is frustrating in any sport. Glad we stuck to our price on Hader though.
  12. Could see Hsin-Chieh Lin being one of them based on that write up. I like the deal because it moves towards punting this season.
  13. This seems like kind of a crappy return for the Indians. If I were them I would have much preferred quality over quantity when dealing from their extreme depth at SP. Clev is controlled through 2022, so to not get a premium name is questionable. Eh who am I kidding they will probably develop Quantrill into an ace knowing Cleveland.
  14. Well you see your first mistake was trusting Nightengale to break a story lol.
  15. Really really enjoyed this draft. Been a while since any of us got any taste of sports again. Actually since the NFL draft. I love that we went for upside for the most part considering the state of our farm system. I think my favorite pick was Zavier Warren in the third. A switch, plus hitting catcher with a good arm that’s already called games before? Giddy up. Also really liked dreaming on Mitchell’s tools. Overall the farm system has a long way to go still but hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
  16. All I know is that a Healy/Sogard platoon would be downright depressing. I’m hoping for a big move coming in regard to 3rd base.
  17. If you’re not getting a blue chip guy you don’t pull the trigger. Simple as that.
  18. I mainly meant the national guys in Rosenthal, Passan, Morosi, Olney. But yeah that’s a fair point lol.
  19. Nah, I've followed him for awhile. He's does miss on a few, but his track record is pretty legit. He's nailed a lot lately too. I haven't seen anything he's posted as a sure thing over the last few months not happen. It's pretty obvious he's got some pretty good sources. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the pretty constant patting himself on the back. A reputable beat writer would actually be on it if that was the case. He’s added no new information. He parrots what the main stream guys say and changes the wording and adds a detail or two. It’s literally no different from the “share homework” meme and it’s content people love to eat up.
  20. Yeah I’m guessing that was fabricated and that conversation never happened.... it’s incarcerated bob.
  21. I’m 100% positive these yankee centric twitter rumors are bunk.
  22. I can get on board with that logic!
  23. One less reliever on the market. Have to imagine calls on Josh will be more frequent.
  24. Miguel Andujar would kind of suck in the N.L. I hope to god Stearns doesn’t think of him as anything more than a throw in. The real value would have to be in the prospects coming back. I’ll hammer on it again but Dominguez needs to be in the deal in any trade scenario with the Yankees for me to consider moving Josh. Deivi just screams bullpen to me not unlike Freddy in that way. In my opinion a deal at the deadline could be the move if we truly are shopping Hader. A less juiced ball could easily increase his value even more, and in addition teams are usually more desperate for a splash in July. Also if he was available a bidding war would likely ensue with contending RP starved teams. A scenario where someone could actually meet Stearns ask. It all hinges on where the Brewers are in the standings though. It feels good to have all the leverage. Because if they’re are no biters we can keep a fan favorite that happens to be the best reliever in the MLB and a perfect fit for the modern game.
  25. If someone said they either expect that return or that they'd be ok with it, please quote it so I can laugh at it along with you. Mainly some shots at what I saw on “Yankees” twitter. Feel free to peruse that cesspool lol. I do find any idea of the Brewers “overvaluing” him laughable though. It’s just playing devil’s advocate as evidenced by previous deals involving elite relievers.
