  1. *edited for language* he's going to the Yankees isn't he.
  2. He's claiming he got this information from his "Stanton" guy, and not his "Ellsbury" guy. It was pretty clear the Yanks were gunning for Stanton. Ken Rosenthal was on it quite early after the STL trade fell through. Sounds like another Brewer World type to me.
  3. A Yankees fan from Barstool (trash outside Carrabis) just tweeted this https://twitter.com/BarstoolHubbs/status/1017109231466663937?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet He also "reported" Ellsbury was going to be traded to the Brewers, so grain of salt city.
  4. I wouldn't say they have zero leverage. It isn't like there isn't competition for Machado's services. That's pretty much the definition of leverage. They aren't going to get near the haul they would have gotten trading him last year or even this past offseason, but they are still going to get a good package. And why wouldn't they try to drive up the price on him? That's just solid business. It's close to none. I'm not saying they're teams colluding, but it's fair to say no team is eager to participate in a bidding war after last year. I'm pretty sure teams are throwing them FAIR take it or leave it offers because in reality the prospects coming back are more valuable than the comp pick. They're gonna trade him and teams know this. Maybe a team blinks, but after the Yankees debacle last year it's unlikely. Just my opinion though.
  5. I think he can thrive in Miller Park.
  6. The O's have zero leverage. How come that's so hard for some of you to believe? It's clear most of these rumored offers are fiction or leaked to the press by the Orioles themselves.
  7. Brewers showing the Orioles they have options IMO. Think Dozier fits really well into the lineup and chance to resign too.
  8. Burnes is going nowhere. That is very clear at this point.
  9. Piggybacking off Reilly, I really think Angelos might be crazy enough to spur other AL East teams with a "better" package for the Brewers/Indians.
  10. I think the Brewers gave the O’s a proverbial middle finger when we added Burnes to the MLB roster. Safe to say he sticks.
  11. Pretty reasonable. Not happy to lose those guys as I think Phillips has more value than this board gives him credit for. Got to give to get though. I would be ok throwing in a low level lottery ticket as well not named Carmona or Rodriguez.
  12. Both in AL East maybe they'd be hesitant.
  13. I can't get over how poor the Orioles asset management is. And I'm not just Captain Hindsight here.
  14. I can't get over how poor the Orioles' asset management is. And I'm not just Captain Hindsight here.
  15. Not interested. Dan Jennings has been far more effective. Britton had an elite sinker that was one of the best pitches in baseball. It's not nearly as good, he can't throw strikes consistently, and velo is down. Orioles missed the boat if they're trying attempting to get value for him.
  16. Jerry Crasnick just tweeted Brett Phillips could be a piece in a potential trade.
  17. Just saw from Brewers Farm (great twitter account highly recommend a follow if you're not) Zack Brown isn't pitching tonight. Couple that with some oddness around Woodruff plus us becoming "favorites". Not to mention those are the type of guys the O's are reportedly targeting. I think it's fair to say somethings up.
  18. Reading that O's board I have a feeling A LOT of people there will be severely disappointed with the return. Maybe they could reach some of those packages if there was still QO tied draft pick compensation. Just not the way baseball teams do business anymore especially for rentals. I'd look to the J.D. deal last year as a baseline for rental bats. IMO I don't see Machado being a ton more impactful than him other than playing a premium position... albeit poorly. Hell Yu the crown jewel rental last year basically only got Willie Calhoun. I think Hiura is more than a fair bit better than him.
  19. Wait why? I do not remember many people saying they had to offer one of those guys to get Machado...? It was reported by someone unreliable (Joe Arrigo I think) that those two were part of the package and it was "not even close" on Baltimore's end. Total malarkey IMO. Jim Bowden also chimed in riding the coat tails to make it seem like he's not clueless. Dodgers are also a savvy org. They know they have a great chance to sign him in the offseason regardless. I highly highly doubt Verdugo is on the table.
  20. I think Santana could be a viable 4th piece. Something like Woodruff, Ortiz/Burnes, Arcia/Dubon and Santana. That's a hell of a lot for half a year.
  21. I'm thinking we add some kind of starter. I'd be thrilled with any pitcher on the "market" but J.A. Happ tbh.
  22. I really like Whit, but you also have to remember he's already 29. I think it's not out of the question the Royals ponder that deal hard to get a jump on their rebuild.
  23. Would suck to lose Erceg, but I think this is a solid deal for both sides. Royals get two nice pieces (provided Santana power shows again) and a wildcard in Bubba Derby. Brewers get multiple years of control of a Zobrist like player. I think a lot of Brewers fans underrate how good Whit is.
  24. Really wish we could've of grabbed Miles Mikolas as well, but got to be pleased with avoiding many of these guys at their price point.
