  1. Here’s the thing WAR isn’t the end all be all when it comes to assessing a player’s value especially a RP. Look at what the trade market has dictated most recently with elite relievers and tell me again we’re overvaluing Hader which is just a laughable statement, and this is coming from someone that thinks dealing him is a good idea. Some examples of the trade market for said elite relievers. Feel free to add any recent comparable ones I might have missed 31 year old Andrew Miller with 1.5 years of control netted Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield two then top ranked, highly lauded prospects and two other nice fliers at the time. A half year of Chapman for Gleyber freaking Torres Edwin Diaz plus an albatross contract in Cano went for Jared Kelenic and Justin Dunn which is again two top 100 guys. Kelenic will be sniffing the top end of that list soon enough just an absolute stud. So forgive me for saying you guys are absolutely nuts to accept a package of anything less than the moon for a guy that is; 25 years old, has won NL reliever of the year twice in a row, cost controlled for 4 years, perfect for the modern game, strikeouts guys at a rate unmatched by few in the history of baseball. Miguel Andujar and Clint Frazier... (basically red headed Brinson) *Inserts getting sick emoji. May match up in WAR but again that’s a terrible stat to assess the value of a RP. With that package Cashman kind kindly you know what himself. Jasson Dominguez would have to be part of the deal if that’s the frame of it and idk if that does enough for Stearns. He’s not dumb he understands value. If he’s not getting a king’s ransom now NY can always call back in July.
  2. Signed him on the show and he became rookie of the year. I’d be down haha haven’t had that Japanese flair since Nori.
  3. I’d want Edwin Diaz back in addition
  4. IMO Rendon is way out of Stearns' price range. He's likely going to get Cole type money. They'd be better off going for Moose and getting Wheeler (4-$80M) for about the same money. Unless it’s self imposed (which would be total bs) it is absolute fiction that anyone is out of the Brewers’ price range this offseason. Whether it’s a good idea is another thing. Rendon and Yelich would be the best 3-4 in baseball. I say do whatever it takes to get him because the window is now.
  5. This was a difficult deadline. No needle movers and the farm arguably gets worse. Idk I’m one that hates the purgatory that is mediocrity in sports. Overall I’m confused with the direction here. Especially with Faria and Black starting in the minors? I’m just frigging puzzled.
  6. Meh move they needed a bat that can hit LHP. Nothing really needle moving.
  7. I totally get the name of the game is clicks and journalistic integrity is all but dead. But man it’s still irritating and frankly disappointing when he darn well knew what he was doing on today of all days.
  8. I like Ray Black. I think they’re solid tools there to work with. But you have to really believe in those 5.1 innings out of the pen from Pomeranz. My problem is with Robert Murray. He really caused blue you know whats with his wording.
  9. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
  10. Well this just sucks. Our bullpen was arguably the biggest strength for our team and as of now it’s a huge detriment. I mean are we really replacing studs like JJ and Knebel with absolute trash like Chase Anderson and Matt Albers? An outside move needs to be made. Hader cannot do it all. Fortunately JJ comes back so we’ll probably just have to weather the storm and hope he gets right quickly. The thought of Matt Albers coming in to blow winnable games sends chills down my spine and raises my BP.
  11. Could see a reunion with Will Smith happening. That would be exciting not only for his slider but also I get to break out my fresh prince 90’s brewers’ shirt again.
  12. Yup that’s one where the scouting team out argued the analytics department. Never made sense from a fit standpoint. I’m still salty bout losing Carmona. Anyway back to Kimbrel.
  13. Here I thought that the Brewers were being next-level proactive and value-driven, but apparently I was giving them too much credit. Signing Kimbrel now is the textbook definition of reactionary desperation. Who cares what the reason for signing him is? You act like he isn’t arguably the best and most consistent reliever of all time. You could argue dumping those kind of resources on a huge strength doesn’t make much sense value wise, but now that the outlook on the bullpen is a bit shaky there’s a value to be had.
  14. A Spanish speaking Red Sox reporter just said a deal is close between the Brewers and Kimbrel. His twitter handle is @JuniorPepen. Am I obsessed? Probably but this is huge so I’m smashing F5. Idk the credibility of the report and it’s more than likely El Toro you know what, but man if it isn’t fun.
  15. I hope that’s the case too
  16. I’d crown him as the best owner is baseball. Sacrificing profit for winning is extremely rare with owners these days.
  17. My guess is that TH has had no inside info when it comes to Kimbrel and was just speculating when he said the payroll is stretched. More reliable insiders around baseball are contradicting his report. This has the feel like it might actually happen and if that’s the case... *****’ a cotton, *****’ a!
  18. If we had a strong farm I would agree that this trade makes a lot of sense. We just don’t anymore though.
  19. Again this team is in win-now mode. Claudio provides much more of a sure thing than some rando lefty signed to a minors deal. I agree that the price was seemingly high, but with the issues they’ve had finding an effective LOOGY, it’s hard to blame them. I agree that we’re in win now mode. This just doesn’t coincide with anything DS has said at the winter meetings. This isn’t a patient or value play IMO.
  20. Hell if you wanna go the cheap route just be patient and see what comes from waivers. Now I’m really upset QTC had to have TJ.
  21. Anyone else starting to get a bit concerned about the lack of impact talent in the minors? That draft pick is far far away from a sure thing but it and the extra bonus pool certainly wouldn’t hurt.
  22. Meh with our barren farm system I would have preferred to keep the pick and swipe a lefty RP off waivers.
  23. In baseball (and life in general) reactionary moves tend to not bode well for the future. Sure the Cardinals got better, but making a move just for the sake of it isn’t Stearns’ MO well, outside of Schoop, but that’s a discussion for a different day. Making a move that doesn’t make sense from a value standpoint is when you run into trouble. Brewers have plenty of opportunities and budget room to get better this offseason, and that is exciting! We just have to to be patient and trust the process.
