  1. I assume Giannis will be signing with Golden State, right?
  2. Even better, he's the best they have and it's not close. Frankly, the fact that they are sitting better than last year at the mid-point of the season, even after Peralta and Jungmann imploded, is impressive. Junior has been a revelation.
  3. Does anybody have any info on when Missaki is due back from the DL? I know injuries don't work the same from player to player, but it's been basically 14 months since he first went on the DL and I would think he'd be back throwing by now.
  4. Right. The current starting pitchers, outside of Garza, are cheap and controllable. Unless Stearns gets absolutely blown away by an offer there's no reason to look to deal any of them. You could make a case for Guerra because of age, but he's still cheap and controllable. Garza you deal just to get rid of, Guerra you only deal if you get something really good back.
  5. Frankly, I've seen the Brewers (and other teams) invest way too much in a RPs career season and end up giving a guy a bad contract because of it. Or RPs that have been very good suddenly flame out. I'm not against keeping them, as long as it's through the arbitration process or 1 year deals. Unless a reliever is elite there just doesn't seem to be a reason to give them more than that. And the Brewers bullpen, while pretty good, doesn't have a guy I would call elite.
  6. There's no doubt about it, the Brewers have some outfield prospects I really like, but I would trade any one of them for Benintendi. I totally agree that Benintendi is the kid to get. He's only 5'11 170 but Freddy Lynn was not big as a Boston outfielder. Similar size but Lynn could generate power and mash. Dombrowski is not afraid to make a big splash. You never know what can happen there. Having said that, it will be very disappointing if Corey Ray doesn't become a Benintendi level talent. Benintendi was taken seventh in 2015; Ray fifth in 2016. It's incumbent on Ray to produce. The college bats from 2015 ended up in double A by mid 2016. That means this time next year, Ray will need to be in Biloxi and acquitting himself nicely. There is a burden and expectation for getting $4 million as a college bat drafted high. That's the point in taking a college bat high. He doesn't HAVE to be in Biloxi and playing well by mid-season 2017, although it would make us all feel better, I'm sure. Development paths aren't linear, so comparing what other guys have done vs. what an individual does isn't worth much except in a general sense. If Ray doesn't make it out of A ball by mid-season next year we'll all be ready to write him off, but it wouldn't mean he was a bust at that point either. Although the odds of that being true would have gone up by quite a bit. Really, I still die a little inside every time Nelson Cruz crushes another HR and can't help but think about him when someone isn't developing as fast as I think they should.
  7. Hill, Will Smith, and Lucroy. They won't be able to give Garza away, they won't trade any other SPs, but I think someone will pony up for Lucroy. His bargain contract makes trading him post-July 31 difficult, so any team that wants him will have to make the move this month.
  8. If Wade is a reality (I don't) I just hope they don't throw money at him. He's on the decline and I don't really expect him to hold up physically. It could be the kind of stupid move a team makes to think it helps them compete, but then sets them back a few years in the process.
  9. We are playing good teams now. When we play teams that are tanking we are very competitive, when we play good teams we lose. Yeah, but the Cards had lost 7 straight at home before the Brewers came to town. They're not that good, but they sure own the Brewers right now.
  10. So, who do we think is older, Jean Carlos Carmona or Thon Maker?
  11. This is sort of what being a Packers fan was for the first 25+ years of my life. And when you're a kid you don't deal in realities, so the expectation from me was 14-0 every year.
  12. Link below to a quick read on Baseball Prospectus regarding MLB's press release supporting H. B. 5580. It's clever and funny. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=29704
  13. I saw on Baseball Prospectus today that Mat Imhof's eye could not be saved and he will be getting a prosthetic eye installed. If there is a lawsuit it will be large.
  14. As mentioned they are college seniors and have no negotiation leverage. I'm guessing neither was a Top 10 round talent to add to it. The Brewers intentionally took them so they could save pool money. Also, these deals are likely pre-arranged with the player. As TPlush said, the team benefits by saving money in their draft pool for a more talented, higher cost player, while the marginal players benefit by knowing they'll get taken, by which team, and what meager amount they're getting paid.
  15. Seth Victor of BP Milwaukee on Aaron Hill's trade value. Short version is he speculates he's worth Gerardo Parra's return (Zach Davies) or better. http://milwaukee.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2016/06/29/aaron-hills-trade-prospects/
  16. Jimbo, I totally agree with people who move around in the middle of innings. At least wait until between batters. Other things that bug me when attending games: Along with what Jimbo said, people who are sitting in the middle of the aisle that I'm in that get up and leave often. And never as part of a group. I know that I'm more into the game itself than most fans, but the casual fans should also respect that there are actually people there who want to watch the game and don't want to have people walking in front of us, or having to get up and down in our seats all the time. And the really annoying people are the ones in the rows in front of me that don't feel compelled to be in any hurry to sit down when returning to their seat (or standing for whatever other reason). I'm all for people standing in big moments of the game, but when someone comes back to their seat mid-inning, get in there and sit down.
  17. [sarcasm]A little crazy? Only a little?[/sarcasm]
  18. the videos of him in high school are much more impressive if he is the same age as those other kids instead of 4 years older. I think because he never played college ball, people are freaking out because there is so many questions on him. This pick will either be the best one in the draft or a complete disaster. I couldn't agree more that I don't think there is any middle ground with this pick. 2 years from now people are either going to be talking about what an amazing pick John Hammond made, or Hammond will be leaving in disgrace.
  19. Red Sox are down another LF, I would think the time is ripe for them to trade for Braun. Unless they are going with Ryan LaMarre in LF. I can't imagine.
  20. Pretty sure the team as currently composed is not the team that will take the floor on opening night in November. The Bucks will pick up a couple FAs, Monroe or Henson may yet be moved, Plumlee is a RFA and might not be back. Lots of moves left and hopefully they will be able to pick up a couple of shooters in said moves.
  21. [sarcasm]Waitaminnit, Erceg had an agent while he was playing in college? That's not allowed![/sarcasm]
  22. I was asking a serious question. You said that Groom and Garrett will be great and we won't be able to trade for them. You said Ray is another weak-armed LF (a comparison to Khris Davis, Clark). So you didn't say he'll be a colossal bust ( I overdid it there) but you clearly think the 2 pitchers will be significantly better than Ray. So why? Again, he was very highly rated by virtually everyone, why are you so down on him versus these other two? And if you're interested in serious discussion, don't refer to people as 'kid' or suggest anyone is lazy, amateurish, or any of the other condescending comments you've made.
  23. Neither Garrett, Groome, or Ray has appeared in a single professional game, yet you are ready to anoint 2 of them as top of rotation potential Hall of Famers and the third is already a spectacular bust. Seriously? I get that they didn't take the guy you wanted. Okay, so Ray wasn't number 1 on your draft board. But he was on others. I guess I don't understand why you are so certain he's going to be terrible when he was rated very high on draft boards by virtually everyone who had a draft board out there. All of these players have a long way to go before any of this matters and there are a lot of potential pitfalls for any draftee. I just don't understand how you can be so certain that, seemingly, Ray is crap and every other player the Brewers could have taken is going to be a multiple All-Star.
  24. I have 3 for each game, Club Outfield, Section 340 6/28 and 6/29 are Row 3, Seats 1, 2, 3 6/30 is Row 5, Seats 1, 2, 3 I cannot go and need to move these, so make an offer. Delivery can be by hand, email, and I think I can will call them if necessary.
  25. You take the free health insurance, I'll take a $34,000 per year pension and figure out my own insurance. Especially when I'd only be 3 years from qualifying for Medicare. Although they'd still have that insurance gap til that time after retirement, so I'm sure the health insurance is very meaningful, but I'd be curious to know it's real value. There are plans out there today that are virtually worthless other than fulfilling the legal requirement of insurance, but I doubt this would be one of them. Except the pension doesn't start paying until age 62 (I think). Do you really think $34,000 annual at age 62 trumps health insurance for 40 years? I don't. Unless Bernie Sanders somehow gets elected president.
