  1. Braun has a long contract at market value with a lot of risk and baggage. He currently has little to no trade value. If he continues to produce as his contract shortens, the Brewers SHOULD be able to get something of value in return for him.
  2. My experience is that the forum is not TOO open to new posters with different perspectives.
  3. The presence of these 4 big hurdles illistrates my point about Braun's trade value being nearly non-existent. We are stuck with him.
  4. These are fair points about Braun's contract not being outrageous anymore, but my point is that it is at Market Value. As a new GM on a rebuilding club, wouldn't Stearns be motivated to move on from Braun. The answer is yes but it's pointless because he has little to no trade value. The long suspension from MLB is undeniably a factor in this.
  5. What would be fair for Braun? If the Angels (or any team) take Ryan Braun and his entire contract off the organization's hands without the Brewers sending any money along..... I think a bucket of baseballs would be about fair.
  6. I would think this is about as much value as we would get for Lucroy actually. I think Heaney is a safe bet to be a #2/3 SP. I'd almost feel better for trading for a pitcher like Heaney who probably has about a 70% chance of being a #2-3 MLB starter, than trading for a lower level pitching prospect with a #1/2 ceiling but only about a 30% chance of reaching it. Cron is also MLB ready, which increases his value. I'd be more okay with a hitter with a slightly higher ceiling but further from the majors, in place of Cron.
  7. Just about zero chance that Dodgers are trading either Seager or Urias. For a package headlined by Lucroy but including Braun, who nobody wants to touch....less than zero chance. Wishful thinking though.
  8. You guys are seriously overrating Khris Davis' talent if you think he has the potential to be as good as Jose Bautista or Edwin Encarnacion. Baseball Reference lists the following players as similar batters to Khris Davis: Nolan Reimold Cody Ross Jason Lane Tyler Colvin Seth Smith I think it's time for a reality check.
  9. Also, some poppycock.
  10. As a good businessman, Attanasio still has to put butts in the seats at Miller Park. He knows that there is a good amount of casual type fans that come out and spend their money at Miller Park and will not be excited about "trying" to lose 100 games. A couple of affordable free agent signings on short term deals will, believe it or not, give these type of fans some hope, even if it's just for each game they attend.
  11. Baseball America just released their 2016 Top 10 Orioles prospects and Dylan Bundy is #1 http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/baltimore-orioles-top-10-prospects/ Would be shocked if Khris Davis would be enough for him via trade.
  12. Kennys Vargas is a switch hitting 1B/DH who is about 2 years further along in his development than Walker. I would value him similar to Walker but I think if Vargas doesn't cut it a 1B, he's a DH because he's not athletic enough for the OF. He is a better fit for a AL team, IMHO. I do consider him a good "buy low" candidate at this time who could benefit from a change of scenery.
  13. Adam Brett Walker was drafted as a 1B prospect and Twins switched him to OF. http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2012/5/30/3051863/2012-mlb-draft-profile-adam-brett-walker-of-1b-jacksonville-st He was tied for 2nd place in the Arizona Fall League this fall with 5 home runs this Fall. He has 30+ homerun MLB power but also Ks at a alarming rate. (think Gorman Thomas, Rob Deer). I agree that it's nice that Palka bats LH, but I think Walker has more upside as a middle of the order hitter. The future Brewers will have a couple of LH bats at least (Phillips, Clark) so I'm not as worried about a balanced lineup right now as a rebuilding team.
  14. Cool that someone is putting this much thought into random trade proposals like the MLB is a fantasy league. lol Interesting offer but I think I'd pass if I were the Brew Crew. Gonsalves if he reaches his potential, could be as good as Peralta, but Wily is the best player/most valuable player in this deal. In my mind Peralta has as much upside/value as Shelby Miller and the Dbacks gave up the farm for that guy. I think we could get more for Peralta if we put him on the market. Rogers is an interesting prospect to add in with Gonsalves but he's not a difference maker. Taylor is overrated a bit and Palka is underrated a bit, so those two would be a wash in my mind. Palka reminds me of a AAAA type player though, similar to former Twins prospect Chris Parmalee. You have to take Palka's great 2015 stats with a grain of salt because it was done in the CAL league. Personally, Id prefer Twins Adam Brett Walker (from Milwaukee, BTW) as a prospect instead. And I'd want to swap out Gonsalves for Kohl Stewart if possible, as he has the higher upside. Here's my counter prosposal: Twins get: RHP Wily Peralta OF Tyrone Taylor Brewers get: RHP Kohl Stewart OF/1B Adam Brett Walker LHP Taylor Rogers Thoughts?
  15. None of these prospects are good enough to headline a deal for Lucroy, IMO.
  16. There might be only 10 or so current Major Leaguers with as much raw power as Pedro Alvarez. Plus he bats left handed. I'm on board with giving him a chance on a one year deal. His upside is still WAY greater than some of the options being mentioned. (i.e. Chris Parmelee, Corey Hart, Jason Rogers)
  17. Speaking of desparate GMs, David please give Dave Stewart a call ASAP!
  18. It's now rumored that Zunino is NOT part of the deal. With that said, I hope Sterns can squeeze a high upside arm (or two!) out of DiPoto to go along with CI DJ Peterson.
  19. I'd rather this trade be official before "slotting" Peterson into the Top 10 Brewers prospects, but I would actually put Peterson at #4 behind Arcia, Phillips and Clark.
  20. Peterson has the talent to figure it out. Mike Moustakas has a similar hit tool as DJ Peterson and two seasons ago he could barely hit his weight, but then last year everything clicked and he was a vital player in the Royals World Championship Team. The Brewers would have the time to let Peterson work through his struggles with the hope he can reach his potential at a position (3B or 1B) of organizational need.
  21. I agree that I'm hoping Sterns squeezed multiple prospects out of a Lind trade with the Mariners. I'm hoping for Piece #1: 1B/3B DJ Peterson or RHP Edwin Diaz Piece #2: C Mike Zunino or RHP Nick Niedert or OF Tyler O'Neil Piece #3: LHP Alex Yarborougor LHP Jacob Brentz or CF Braden Bishop This may be wishful thinking but I feel that we should at least get 2 players from the top two "pieces" or three from the bottom two "pieces". Go Sterns! Per MLB TRADE RUMORS... The Mariners are “close” to acquiring Lind, Rosenthal tweets. Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel, meanwhile, writes that there’s speculation that 3B/1B D.J. Peterson could be part of the Brewers’ return. Peterson, the 12th overall pick in the 2013 draft, hit well in the low minors but struggled last season at Double-A Jackson, batting .223/.290/.346 in 393 plate appearances there.
  22. Orioles Pirates Tampa Cleveland St. Louis Houston White Sox Twins (may have before signing the guy from Korea) Seattle Angels That's 10. Perhaps I'm missing a team or two. And maybe a couple of teams that don't need him checked in because they were entertaining dealing their current DH or 1B. Just a thought. Nice list and post. I'll eat crow on that one.
  23. This dozen teams interested in Lind is a [expletive deleted by moderator] rumor. There are not 12 2016 contending teams that need a 1B and/or DH. My guess is that their could be 2-4 teams interested in Adam Lind for one year on the cheap.
