  2. Its also worth noting that over his last 200 PA at AA, he was 90% better than that league of I suppose, not mashers and had a 1.5:1 BB:K ratio.
  3. I think its fine at this point. Given that there are 30 teams and the Brewers probably are still lagging the NY and LAs of the world in international scouting budget beyond bonus pool; landing (1) top 15 and (4) top 100 prospects seems like we are competitive. The bonus pools aren’t that much different; 10% or so and nearly half the teams qualify for the additional money. I still think its odd the Brewers largely ignore pitching prospects.
  4. Trent is on pace to have a higher wRC (211) than babip (205) in the month of June. That is pretty mind boggling.
  5. -Need to become less predictable on offense. Not sure Chryst isnt stubborn enough to not make adjustments. When they put Adam Krumholz on the field, they might as well take the QB off the field and run wildcat because they dont pass. And this is several early downs a game -I dont fully understand how, but they went from really good on third down to really bad with mostly the same personnel. Need to make some corrections there -Dline depth still a concern. Maybe Dietzen and Mullens are ready to step in. -OLB depth doesnt look good either and they need to generate some pass rush without AVG -Whatever the hell happened to Scott Nelson in the Minnesota game needs to be corrected or the coaches need to be quick to pull the plug -Would be nice if one or two of there abundance of "playable" cornerbacks takes leap forward; Williams, Wildgoose, Hicks, Cone, Harrell, etc.
  6. Article Looks like Small is not expected to start tonight on short rest, but Brewers' 6th round pick will got for Louisville. Ginn is a former first rounder of the Dodgers who did not sign.
  7. I doubt the reason you gave factors into their decision making. Beyond the fact that the pick is protected so they aren’t screwed, very few players are going to get cold feet when their bonus demand is met and the millions are on the table. Now trying to figure out if they will drop their demands is another story, but an overslot signing can be made pretty easy by mixing in seniors in rounds 6-10. Certainly bonus demand is a factor if all other things are equal, but there isn’t enough evidence that is the deciding factor here. There is a reasonable chance that Small is the top player on their board.
  8. Breakouts: Joey Matulovich – Strong Cape League performance, and solid pro debut. A steal to get in the 20th round and signed. Justin Bullock- Back to back seasons of K-BB% of 16% in rookie ball. The rest of his line is just product of pitching in a hitters league Braden Webb - Already had some eye-popping starts down the stretch. Puts it together and helps the big league club. Comebacks: Trent Grisham - I refuse to believe a guy who can post a K:BB of 4:3 at age 21 against AA pitching isn’t going to figure out a way to be productive big leaguer whether its more power or better contact on balls in play
  9. Yes they can pending the definition of much more. Revenues have increases via national tv contract and MLBAM since the Brewers were maintaining $100+ million earlier this decade. Having a payroll between $130-140 million isn’t unrealistic. Im not saying they should, but bankruptcy isnt a concern to push it with temporary commitments.
  10. How many seasons can you ruin when you are 26-6 as a starter? I get it, he is athletically limited, can’t throw a screen pass and is poor at passes to the boundary. But by all accounts, he is a tireless worker and prior to last season he was ridiculously effective on obvious passing downs and in the red zone. Admittedly, some of his regression is teams have figured out how to better defend against him, but Wisconsin is more than a QB away from getting to the next level. When Wisconsin lines up against Ohio State next season, players who had offers to both schools; 30+ of them will be in scarlet and grey including multiple Badger legacies and 2 of them will be on Wisconsin. The athleticism and depth is a tough gap to close. I’m not saying that Hornibrook should start, but Im also not ready to say Chryst should put Mertz out there if he can’t get the team in the right audibles, recognize the blitzes, doesn’t know the route trees, and could permanently ruin his confidence or his physical state.
  11. 1) Hiura 2) Burnes 3) Ray 4) Turang 5) Z. Brown 6) Lutz 7) Stokes 8) Grisham 9) Dubon 10) Erceg 11) Ashby 12) Gray 13) Bello 14) Webb 15) P. Abreu 16) C. Rodriguez 17) P Henry 18) Supak 19) M. Diplan 20) M. Feliciano 21) J. Nottingham 22) Bullock 23) Lemons 24) Kirby 25) M. Lazar
  12. Lol, control is the only thing holding him back from being completely dominant. You're definitively saying a 22 year old with MLB success under his belt can't fix that as he progresses? I'll continue listening to the scout. Please name another “completely dominant” sub 6’ RH with 90 MPH average fastball. BB isn't the only thing he cant fix. I suppose Pedro during points in his career but that wasn’t with a 70%+ fastball usage. Can I ask which scout you are listening to or what prospect list has Peralta as a top 50 prospect?
  13. Peralta is an undersized RH with fringe velocity who has never walked less than 10% in any meaningful sample size. After July his ERA was over 5 and his walk rate was 13%. No one knows how his deceptive delivery will play once MLB adjustment period is over. There are certainly a reasonable probability that he becomes a productive major leaguer that make him valuable, but he has warts that will not be fixed with age. Woodruff may not be a prospect but his future performance is volatile with to me a greater probability of becoming a productive big leaguer. He has no significant warts in his arsenal or build. Woodruff’s 2018 including postseason is 11.0 K/9 2.8 BB/9 .68 HR/9 in 54.2 innings. Woodruff needs to show he can get MLB hitters out at cruising speed, but nothing in his MiLB track record says he cannot. I think the new found confidence that he can get the best MLB lineups out in short stints will translate over. To answer the original question, Id put his value at somewhere around $45 million, but that is probably higher than most would go.
  14. Would help if Wisconsin would put out a product worth watching. 3-7 in their last 10 games and outside the top 30 in pairwise after being outscored 7-1 last weekend in Columbus. Embarrassing penalty kill numbers. Year 3 of the Granato era doesn't seem like it is going as planned. They still have a loaded recruiting class next season, but it’d be nice to get the trajectory pointed in the right direction before they arrive.
  15. I felt the same. If he hasn't gotten a shot yet I don't see how he'll ever get one with Milwaukee. I'd love to keep him around but I don't know why he would re-sign here again. I agree. He could go elsewhere and get a shot at the big leagues that Milwaukee does not seen to want do. Heck, Mike Zagurski got a shot last year and we saw what he has. At AAA, Ramirez walked more than he struck out. Zagurski struck out 35% of batters. Zagurski getting his shot isn't really an indication that the Brewers were denying Ramirez an opportunity he earned and no one is signing Ramirez with the intent of him being MLB depth or a MLB camp option at this point. He may be worth a roster spot to see if he does better a 2nd time around.
  16. I said quickly not thoroughly.
  17. A quick examination of this thread, I came up with only Clancy advocating for Olczak or even mentioning his possibility. Given his recent AFL effort on top of a strong season at AA, seems more and more likely to be protected.
  18. Better now than in spring. I guess Burdi sets the precedent that it could happen but QTC isn’t Burdi (which has yet to help the Pirates and I believe they still need a active roster spot next season) so I think we are fine leaving him unprotected.
  19. Unfortuantely 3 first rounders (2 ahead of us) did not sign so we should have pick 28 and should get a CB-A pick between 40-45.
  20. I certainly don’t have Mark A’s check book and spending money on things other franchises aren’t (like our spring training facility) is putting us at a competitive disadvantage regardless of your feelings on tax subsidies. However, would be interesting if the Brewers bought an ownership stake in part to help finance a new stadium.
  21. Minnesota has 58,000 registered hockey players, Michigan had 49,000 registered hockey players with a high % of its population close to the Canadian border and population. Wisconsin has 19,836. Hockey is bigger in those states. Maybe Colorado is a reasonable comparison with both CC and Denver (im not counting AF), but those schools don’t have to compete with the large state public university. The best bet is SNC decides to go D1 for hockey and somehow works out an exemption to let them exclusively play D1 hockey (like RPI), but they seem fine with being a D3 power from my very distant seat. Now there is some chicken and egg thing. Certainly more high quality hockey would grow the game but there isn’t the gap in the market here. Illinois may be another story, but..

  23. I’m fairly certain it means there is correlation between when the game is played and the Brewers level of success. I guess you could theorize is no causation of this and no predictive value but it does seem to “mean” something.
  24. Anyone else having issues with MILB scoreboard? I’ve tried on multiple devices and nothing. Just want the AZL box score last night… While his season has been disappointing, KJ Harrison has the most extreme handed splits I can ever remember seeing from a RH hitter 250 at bats into a season. While Erceg has slipped off my personal prospect radar, at least he is hitting in the second half. A little hope I suppose.
  25. The Brewers’ fascination with Miley is ranking up there with Yuni B for what on earth can smart baseball people see that makes them think this is the best option to win games? You can’t be an effective big league pitcher and walk over 12% of batters unless you are striking out 30. I lamented the Milone and Sogard acquisitions in the beginning but at least I could see logic. Sogard’s previous ability to BB more than K was a neat trick and betting on Milone HR rate to regress is a far more likely bet than walk rate. I don't see any redeeming quality for Miley.
