  1. Well surely the Knebel news going official hasn't helped our leverage if these talks were ongoing at all. Still don't think it happens, but am not totally against it. EDIT: For the record, I really don't think there is any need to panic spend. Id rather let the season, or consider other relief options.
  2. What a nightmare
  3. Though I would love for this to happen, I think the manner in which it has transpired means there is about a .5% of Kimbrel actually signing with us.
  4. Crew is in talks with Kimbrel according to Rosenthal
  5. Crossing my fingers that it is actually a club option.
  6. So who here would trade Corey Ray for Wade LeBlanc? You can't argue with the stats, but at some point you have to consider other factors including the injury issues he dealt with last year, and his playoff pedigree. There is not a single Brewers pitcher I would rather have starting game 7 of the NLCS than Madbum. If we can make that upgrade for just Corey Ray, I would do it.
  7. Ray for Madbum would be the biggest no brainer in history. Yes Madbum has many concerns as laid out in this thread, but so does Corey freaking Ray - the guy who looked like he couldn't hit high school pitching just one season ago. Let alone the glut of OFers in his way. If Ray is the centerpiece, I don't see how we say no.
  8. I trust Stearns on this because I don't have much else to say about the players in this trade.
  9. If Attanasio were ever to do something like this (I know he wouldn't) I'd have a hard time not launching a beer at his forehead. What a prick this guy is.
  10. If they are just eating $38 million, that's a pretty good sign that Tulo will no longer play a role on another MLB team.
  11. My first thought was that this wouldnt be a viable option, but the more I think about it the more interesting it gets. I think Corey is a valid sell-high player and adding Bogaerts would be a great help for this offense.
  12. Agreed. We were ONE GAME away from the World Series. Adding a (hopefully) healthy Murphy could help put us over the edge. He can be THAT good when he is healthy.
  13. I'd love to bring in Kluber but giving up Burnes and Peralta, let alone also adding Ray is just a significant overpay for me. Though I think this offer is a lot closer to reality than what some other posters have suggested (like Ray + Santana).
  14. Sheesh..lets try to keep some of our pitching at least!
  15. Yeah I think this is the most realistic view of things. Which is why we won't be getting Kluber without including any of those 4.
  16. As I said in the trade forum: The return here does seem light, and with how our offense went cold at times last year, his bat would have been a more than welcome addition.

  18. I would begrudgingly give up Hiura and Ray for Thor because how many opportunities will this franchise ever have to add a legit Ace pitcher with multiple years of control, especially coming off a year where we made it to Game 7 of the NLCS. We are all aware of the injury history he has, but I just don't think we can afford to pass up his caliber of pitcher for that length of control. His control is basically the exact amount of time for our window to finally win a WS. I love Hiura, but I just think you have to do it if offered the opportunity. Edit - And I would include Hiura over Burnes because getting rid of Burnes and adding Thor is just counter-intuitive. Keep the controllable pitching!!!
  19. A guy getting traded with a full year left is always going to have more value than a guy with half a year. Not if that guy returns to ace-caliber form in the first half of that season.
  20. It's close and that is saying something.
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  22. I highly doubt we could get Realmuto for Ray, Perlata and Diplan. I'm sure we'd already have him if we could.
  23. I would be okay with a move for Merrifield only if it doesnt cost any of our top 3 young pitchers or Hiura, and we make corresponding moves to continue improving our team. Problem is- we move Merrifield then Hiura becomes expendable, and although still a great prospect, teams will know we need to move him, therefore hurting our leverage. Oh and for the record - i dont think we get him without trading at least one of Burnes/Peralta/Woodruff/Hiura.
