  1. He needs several days off. He's a 4th OF for a reason.
  2. Yeah, that wasn't a hanging curve. It was a curve, yes, but it wasn't hanging.
  3. It's been worse than that since mid-April. He's hitting like .190 since then.
  4. Perkins continues to freefall at the plate. Garbage.
  5. He's hitting .230 and he's a career .242 hitter. What exactly did you expect?
  6. Have they confirmed anything on Chourio? Has anyone asked about why he's glued to the pine outside of getting the Lenny Harris treatment?
  7. That's the lineup we're putting on Fox lol
  8. Oh man, now you're just making stuff up for S&Gs. None of this was said and you're making all this up in your head. At least now I know who not to discuss topics with on this site when I do come around.
  9. Yeah, you're right. I don't know baseball. Have a good day, bud.
  10. Yeah, you didn't care to take the context of what I wrote. You've got your mind made up either way. His ground ball rate is substantially higher than last year, he's topping the hell out of the baseball and his launch angle is halved. He's hitting the ball hard...on the ground. That's resulted in him hitting a whopping .200 from April 16th through May 8th in 87 PAs. If he was pissing on the baseball with a higher LD rate, I'd be all for it. But that's not what's happening here. If you can't contextualize the analytics, they serve no purpose.
  11. I've seen his statcast. There's been tradeoff to the quality of contact though. Correct me if I'm wrong here but he's putting the ball on the ground a ton more this year than last. His launch angle has been cut in half and his GB rate is near 60%. He's getting on top of the baseball a ton more too. I get it from the idea of playing into his speed but the ground game only works if you're not hitting it at people. Quality of contact doesn't matter if you're grounding out. That also plays into the batted ball luck.
  12. Because he still draws walks, yes. You seem to take any slight against Perkins personally. Nothing about what I said was incorrect. His numbers from April 16th on, a more prolonged sample than his hot start (where he had a BABIP in the lower .400s), have aligned more with his 2023 numbers. He's fine for a 4th OF. Nothing I said was a slight to the kid. He's hitting .200 with a decent OBP since mid-April and a 91 wRC+ while striking out around 27% of the time and walking around 11% of the time. Basically lining up with his 2023 numbers. LIS, fine for a 4th OF.
  13. Hope you like e85 baby, because that's what he's bringin'!
  14. .324 BABIP on a .203 average says he's getting pretty lucky when he puts the ball in play actually. Most people don't have BABIPs 120 pts higher than their average.
  15. I wouldn't really count on Perkins much going forward. He started insanely hot his first 8 games but since mid-April, he's been around what he was last year. So he's less that 118 wRC+ and more around that 88 wRC+ he posted in 2023. Fine for a 4th OF. Frelick and Chourio are struggling mightily too in that time frame. Frelick's hovering around 70 and Chourio is below 40. But, as was said, hitter production fluctuates, but it'll tend to line up with what history tells us these guys are in certain cases. Ride the waves when they're hot but don't leave them out there too long when they go cold. In some cases, you can't help that due to injuries and what not and have to take the good (defensive ability in some cases) with the bad (poor plate skills) as a result. Nothing groundbreaking in what I'm saying.
  16. vs RHP Chourio .234/.255/.383, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 29.3% K%, .149 ISO, .290 BABIP, .279 wOBA, 79 wRC+ Bauers .209/.274/.373, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 39.7% K%, .164 ISO, .333 BABIP, .288 wOBA, 85 wRC+ What exactly is the advantage of playing Bauers here? The numbers are marginal and does absolutely nothing for our future. Is it just for the aesthetic of "hE's A lEfT hAnDeD bAt?" Play the damn kid FFS. You're doing him no friggin' favors with this bullcrap just trying to pick up some May wins in a year where we're trotting out AAAA arms in our rotation. Knock off the charade already. Think about the future.
  17. I'll note again that the comment I originally replied to was about guys being "not fun" to watch at the plate so that's why defense was not brought up. I'm sure you read further along in the thread and saw a similar response IRT Perkins from another poster. As far as my replacements? Well, I'd view this year as a transitional year and I'd just roll with the youth. Let them take their lumps and stop with this nonsense that we're "competing for a World Series." It makes more sense to let guys like Chourio, Frelick, Black, Turang, Ortiz and Wiemer/Mitchell (when healthy) take their lumps and develop against MLB pitching rather than continuing to trot out street fodder like Bauers, Dunn and Perkins in everyday lineups. We'd be in a much better position in 2025 to actually compete with a (hopefully) healthy Woodruff and prospects that you'd hope to be ready to jump into the rotation like Gasser and Misiorowski and maybe even someone like Tyler Woessner rather than the rotation we have now. Let the kids play. I'm not gonna pay money to go see Blake Perkins and Jake Bauers, that's for certain.
  18. AFAIK he hasn't actually done that yet to Chourio since he's started 4 straight in LF but it's still a new position to think about during the midst of being benched more often and struggling at the dish. We saw the hesitancy of playing LF today from him with Adames on that popup in the 8th. Frelick's played 16 games in LF. I'm not sure why all of a sudden we needed to start playing Chourio there.
  19. I think jostling him around the lineup and now sitting him 3x in 7 games isn't going to help him any. Cement him in a position and give him every day at bats. Let him work through it. It's not like Jake Bauers is giving quality at bats either. Play the kid and let him see MLB pitchers. It's not like he's pressing like Jackson Holliday was when he got his call or he looked completely overwhelmed like Black did. Don't bat him leadoff one day and then 8th the next and then 9th the next. Don't play him in LF one day and then RF the next. Keep him in RF and keep him hitting 8th or 9th and let him figure it out. Give him less to think about and let his natural ability take over.
  20. Defense can be ignored when the initial comment was about not having fun watching the guys hit. Not everything has to be a pages long argument. Sanchez I'll concede just because he at least provides MLB level power while not being a complete turd at the dish despite having some epic slumps over his career. The Slamchize will drive you mad 80% of the time tho and be part of the "no fun" department quite often.
  21. We don't have very many starting level offensive MLB players at this point. Not a full lineup anyways.
  22. Perkins, as a hitter, is a minor leaguer. That's the point, thus the "to the plate" part of the comment that I responded to. We're not talking defense here. Sanchez is worthless 80% of the time at the plate. I get that we're getting what we paid for but he's gonna be "no fun" to watch 80% of the time because of what he is. Nothing groundbreaking here.
