  1. Avina has a 30, maybe, if you're feeling generous, a 35 grade bat. He's going to get destroyed in the upper levels.
  2. One thing being true doesn't make other things untrue. You're crowing about a 4th OF when the strength of our system is the OF. We had several OFs that graded just as well or better than Tyrone. We dealt from a position of strength and gave up the least valuable piece to do so. Nobody is going to miss Tyrone Taylor. Where was Taylor getting the opportunities to produce in 2024? Because it certainly wasn't in this OF.
  3. I'm a massive prospect guy and this just isn't really true. Cam Devanney is a guy we see all over the minors that just never cuts it in the bigs. The Mariners have a better version of him just wasting away in Jake Scheiner (power with no real standout tools elsewhere). Brady is a low leverage reliever with a pretty bad strand rate in the minors. He's nothing.
  4. Houser is a nothing burger. He's an overpaid innings eater and he's failed at even being that the last 3 seasons. He was never pulling anything of value at his pay rate. Taylor is a 4th OF with a career OBP under .300. I think "high quality" is being used extremely loosely here. This is nothing more than a case of overvaluing our own. We also do pretty damn well developing guys with spotty fastballs. His command is legit and everything else is really solid. You get that fastball to tick up post TJS (and quite a few players do) and he's a viable player. Arnold did extremely well here in the gamble department.
  5. Excellent work by Arnold here IMO trading two guys with no future in Milwaukee for a highly intriguing arm with some upside. Not really sure what people are crowing about (pun intended lol) with this one. We're not going to miss Houser or Taylor.
  6. Austin Meadows but it would depend on where he's at with his mental health recovery.
  7. We would be beyond stupid to risk Burnes value by trying to compete in 2024.
  8. My anticipation level for the 2024 season couldn't be any lower
  9. lol Winker. Just tone deaf man. I can't take this franchise seriously, man. Mark like "I spent $8 Million on him, you're playing him, Craig!" Attanasio is a plague
  10. This franchise needs to totally revamp how they approach hitting, man. Whatever they are doing at the MLB level is just not it. Spend the money and fix it. It's not a talent issue, it's an organizational issue because it happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR regardless of who we put in the lineup.
  11. lol they had the balls to ask for $600+ Million from the state.
  12. That list came out on June 12th. They had him at #36 in March of 2022 with a 35+ grade but that was Kevin Goldstein. Eric Longenhagen has him at #17 with a 40+ grade now.
  13. I would not be shocked if we fast track Blalock as a bullpen piece. I love this deal. Urias had no future here IMO. The writing was on the wall with the Wilken and Boeve selections and his likely non-tender next year.
  14. Nobody said anything about trading for a rental or that it had to be an expensive upgrade. And even if those two do come back, it's not like Houser can't be upgraded. They should 100% be scouring the market for an arm. Arnold would be failing at his job if he weren't.
  15. Teheran and Rea have been fine for what they were asked to come in an do, in fact more than fine, but we should also be exploring the market for another arm if we're serious about trying to compete. I'm not saying push our chips in but the sole focus shouldn't be on acquiring another bat or two. If Woody and Miley can't get healthy, it wouldn't matter if we traded for Mike Trout, you aren't winning anything with a rotation of Burnes, Peralta, Houser, Rea and Teheran.
  16. Didn't have much faith this series when I saw it was Houser, Teheran and Rea. We desperately need Woody and Miley back.
  17. Also can't hit LHP. Career 75 wRC+ (56 wRC+ this year). Candelario would be the superior option.
  18. UNO didn't play a ton of super high level OOC teams but they did end up playing a lot of OOC baseball during Boeve's time there so there may be a bit more to those numbers than just "well he played the Summit League." Competition was a lot stiffer in 2021 and 2022 than it was in 2023 though.
  19. Yes and no. Not entirely sure who UNO scheduled non-conference but, as a Wright State alum, we always schedule top tier OOC teams and Black held his own those games basically doing what he does now. Conference wise, absolutely, since the Horizon got gutted due to expansion since my days there. 2019 2 vs #10 Ole Miss, 3 vs #19 Oklahoma State, 1 vs #9 East Carolina (3-14, 2 RBI as a true Freshman in those games) 2020 3 vs #6 Mississippi State, 1 vs #1 Louisville, 3 vs #20 Auburn, 3 vs #11 Tennessee (8-34, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 2B, 3B, 5 BB, 7 K) 2021 2 vs #2 Vanderbilt, 3 vs #23 Alabama, NCAA Tourney vs #2 Tennessee and Duke (8-23, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 2B, 7 BB, 5 K)
  20. Depends who they saw him against. If they saw him play high level competition, they may have seen a lot of weak contact but he's able to spray against lesser arms. I don't imagine a lot of people watched a ton of UNO games. I think his swing profile is a low impact one but I haven't watched a ton of him. We've had some success with my man Tyler Black so I guess I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss Boeve since they both have similar compact swing paths and hand speed.
