  1. Now 10-0 in the top of 1st..
  2. Cleveland is exercising its 2020 option on Corey Kluber. Announced via MLBTR today.
  3. I understand the interest (assuming he is healthy). That said, considering the Astros are likely losing GCole via free agency, why would they let a healthy McHugh get away when they need starting pitching? Are you suggesting the Brewers should outbid the Astros to draw him away??
  4. He is a nice target if healthy & I like the idea of AJ Green playing in a division other than the AFC North. But how much are the Packers willing to give up and why is Cinci looking to deal Green??
  5. Unless you meant for that to be in blue, a lot, lot more. The Baseball Trade Values site lists KMarte at 137.5 in value. For sake of comparison, the same site lists KHiura at only 76.3 in value. Nice target but Brewers (or any team) would be paying full retail price if not more..
  6. And the big league club sees none of that. It would probably be a huge cost savings for a major league team to dump a few minor league affiliates and instead invest some money in their spring training complex to accommodate 100 or so players all year round and do the majority of their player development there. Wasn't that part of the reason a number of teams have paired up in upgrading the spring training facilities & maintained a year round presence (like Cleveland & Cincinnati in Goodyear, AZ)??
  7. I think there is a very strong suitor for Cole in the LA Angels.. Apparently he grew up 10 minutes from their park and as a huge Angels fan..
  8. I second that. Just hoping it was one of those games and not injury. Let us also hope it wasn't a matter of the bright lights/ big stage getting to him. Its part of the reason I think making the post-season in the minors is important - getting more experience dealing with the highest pressure situations. An issue with big pressure situations now does not condemn Drew (or any player) to struggles in those situations throughout his/ their future, but finding a way to replicate those situations is much more difficult.
  9. It has happened already... I present to you George Valera. The linked story presents some of the facts (where born & where he/ his family moved to).. https://www.letsgotribe.com/2019/7/8/20686610/cleveland-indians-prospect-george-valera-top-50-baseball-prospectus-rankings-minor-league-bat-flips
  10. Drew started Gm 5 of the AA Championship game. It did not go well... 0.1 IP, 4H 5R allowed, all earned... (along with 1 HBP by him)
  11. Bleacher Report updated its system rankings on 9/12/19(with end of 2019 milb season). Brewers at #29 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2852665-re-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-at-the-end-of-the-2019-milb-season#slide2 They also updated the Crew Top 10 (in their estimation) Top 10 Prospects Name Age Tier 1. 12. Germans? Say what, now?! Forget it, he's rolling.
  13. And that is the end of the 2019 season.....
  14. Interesting list of possible names to take over in Boston.... https://www.mlb.com/news/candidates-to-replace-dave-dombrowski
  15. The Twins hold a $12M team option ($300k buyout) on Cruz for 2020. I would be shocked if the Twins did not pick up the option....
  16. All those names could well be targets for Boston. So could Stearns as he already engineered a quick rebuild/ retooling... Time will tell to see where Boston ends up..
  17. Boston says Adios to Dave Dombrowski... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/09/red-sox-part-ways-with-dave-dombrowski.html
  18. There is a back door way that you can get anyone onto your postseason roster. Kansas City even did this once to get one of their minor league pitching prospects into a World Series game in 2015. What you do is pick someone on your current MLB roster who you know you don't want to use and put them on the 60-day injured list. You're allowed to replace injured players with anyone from your entire organization regardless of what level they were at. The only drawback is the "injured" player is done for the season and can't be recalled for any reason. I believe that loophole was partially closed with the trade deadline changes this year. Yes a player on the 60 day IL can be replaced by someone in the organization but for post-season eligibility that player had to be part of the organization (not necessarily on the 40 man roster) before 9/1. JP would not meet that 9/1 deadline (being acquired on 9/2/19)..

  21. Yes, JP is eligible to play for the Brewers this season. He is not eligible for a post season roster if the Brewers make the playoffs this year... I really like the pickup from the Brewer perspective..
  22. Maybe later this month... Edit - Ok. Strike this. Just saw report on MTBTR that he is shutting down for the rest of the season to be ready for spring training... I still agree with Joey that Cinci could be a likely destination for him (to work with Derek Johnson again)...
  23. Good luck with that. Apparently Alabama is seeking ILB help as well. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2019/08/colts-texans-browns-lead-nfl-in-cap-space [sarcasm]Considering the NFL salary cap, those available talents might be getting paid more by Saban at Bama..[/sarcasm]

Next lowest is now Cincinnati at -68 (-10 on the week)... Next Update: Tuesday 9/3/19 (to catch final games of regular minor league season on Sunday 9/1 & Monday 9/2).
