  1. Bases purely on performance, it should be Suppan...hes been horrible the past few starts wheres as Bush has had 3 amazing starts out of his last 4. McClung has been consistant all year and seems to be the only starter other than Sheets that doesnt walk like 30 guys per start. Suppan usually ends the year well, so once Bush goes back to normal, we can flop them. I also wouldnnt mind seeing CV in the minors, but only if they're going to make him a starter again. We are going to be in heavy demand for starters next year, so he would be a nice addition. Otherwise, make him your 8th inning guy and groom him for that role in Nashville.
  2. At this point, I dont see the need for another starter unless you can get one on the cheap (for say a Errecart or Nelson). A would love a reliever, but not someone you have to trade a top 10 prospect for. If Gagne can keep up the success he's had since coming off the DL, he could be the 8th inning guy. I also, though, would love to see Nelson up, along with Gywnn, and a few others.
  3. If Melvin is holding up this deal because he wont include LaPorta, I'll be very disappointed. If indeed if was LaPorta, Green, and Cain, I'd do that in a heartbeat b/c LaPorta is the only one that can be considered as close to a sure thing as possible. Plus, theres nothing LaPorta can do, offensively or defensively, that Gamel cant do. LaPorta will be nothing more than an average outfielder, maybe above average as a firstbasemen. Gamel could be average at those two positions. Plus Gamel is lefthanded. Even though LaPorta is our top prospect, I think his loss wouldnt kill the longterm future of the system. Melvin has to do something to address his glut of outfielders, with Braun, Hart, LaPorta, Cain, Gwynn, probably Gamel, Brantly and Gillespie. And I prefer them not to do it by letting Hart walk away. He needs to be resigned.
  4. On the lastest "truth or rumors" on CNNSI, the brewers werent even listed anymore. They listed the Yankees, Cubs Phillies, and Dodgers as the 4 teams interested still.
  5. If we trade Weeks, who's going to play second, and who's going to bat lead off?
  6. I think we got fleeced in the Linebrink trade. He gave up way too much, and severly hurt our pitching depth. I just want to see him get fleeced again by giving up way too much to get 14 starts out of Sabathia. I'd give up Laporta and Green, but not Escobar.
  7. Also take into account he'd routinely pitch deeper into games than Bush, which would keep the bullpen fresher, which can only help. The more I think about it, the more I would not trade Escobar. I think Escobar will be our staring shortshop in 2010, at which point JJ Hardy should move over to third base. Hall and Branyan will both be gone by then, and it would vastly improve our defense. I can live with giving up LaPorta, but not both him AND Escobar. Gamel could slide into first or leftfield, preferrable first to replace Fielder. In 2010 then we could have an outfield of Braun, Hart and Brantly, with Hardy at 3rd, Escobar at short, Weeks at second, and Gamel at first. 1) Brantly 2) Escobar 3) Braun 4) Gamel 5) Hart 6) Weeks 7) Hardy 8) Salome. A lineup consisting entirely of player developed by us. Plus then you trade Fielder for some good young pitching.
  8. It is coming from my anti spyware, webroot spy sweeper. I tried running an update but that same message pops up when i search for updates. Then when i close the messaage it says restart program, and when i click on restart now the error message pops up again. Also, nothing happens when i try running a full sweep.
  9. I have recently been getting this error every time my computer starts up that says "could not locate valid definitions file. Please go to the program options page and click update definitions to download a definitions file" Does anyone know either what this means, or where the program options page is?
  10. Not sure if this was brought up, but a blog on the JS today said the Indians were scouting Taylor Green. I wouldnt mind at all if he were the center piece of a deal, although I think he'd be a nice replacement for Weeks. I just wouldnt trade Jeffress, and I would rather keep Gamel than LaPorta because hitting like .370 is AA is just ridiculous. Plus he's a lefty and I think he could slide into first base if need be. I'd say something like Green, Gillespie or Brantley and then maybe a Braddock of something would be a hell of a deal.
  11. Huge difference between potential top of the rotation starters and a known top of the rotation starter - the Brewers would be foolish for expecting a haul of young arms for a rental of Sheets, or even for 3 years of Fielder True, but a) we're going to lose Sheets anyway and b) even if the two picks we get in return turn into top of the line prospects, thats still one less than i think you could get in return. I'd much much rather take my chances with 3 guys at AA or higher than with 2 draft picks. And they wouldnt be foolish to expect 3 arms in return for the two. The Yankees were offering a major league ready pitcher who at the time was a very good prospect (Hughes) plus prospects for Santana in the offseason and its been said you get more for a pitcher at the deadline. Sheets is outperforming Santana. Teams like Boston, Tampa Bay, the Yankees..they have the pitching prospects to trade us. I dont think its foolish at all to expect two potential 1 or 2 pitchers for Sheets. Then Im sure you could get another one plus some for Fielder. You have Parra, Gallardo, and Suppan for next year, but after that the pickings are kind of slim. And unless you are going to overspend for an average pitcher like they did with Suppan, the options are kind of limited to Bush, Capuano, Villanueva, and McClung.
  12. Taking a completely opposite approach, what about trading both Fielder and Sheets at the deadline? I know it would be giving up on this year, but I'd guess we could get 3 potential top of the rotation starters out of it, plus maybe some infield prospects to possibly replace Hardy and Weeks down the line. We could really set up well for the future. I just hate to lose Sheets for nothing more than 2 draft picks, because the chances of them turning into the kind of players we could get in a trade is relatively low. As far as Fielder go, we pretty much have a replacement for him in either LaPorta or Gamel, and his value is probably not going to get much higher because the team who gets him wont have to resign him for awhile. Again, the players we could get in return would set us up very well for the next 3 to 4 years.
  13. Im just curious, but when Seth Lintz signs, where about will he be on the list?
  14. I think its gotta be Gamel. I just dont think he can stick at third, and Laporta has already been moved once. Plus Gamel is a lefty.
  15. Its hard not to trade him, considering that he would bring back so much more then you could get with 2 picks. If you can get one major league ready starter who is at, the very minimum, a number 2, plus a top notch pitching prospect at or above AA, I say go for it.. You could probably get another prospect too, maybe an infielder. Considering you can get more for a pitcher at the deadline, and considering what we gave up to get Linebrink last year, we could get quite the haul for him. If we are not in the chase, just imagine what we could get for Sheets, plus some of those bullpen arms like Torres and maybe even Gagne or Mota.
  16. Cain probably should have been in AA this year, but because of all the depth and the fact they want him to play every day they kept him in Brevard County. I just hope that he isnt overmatched in AAA and his game doesnt suffer.
  17. I dont think we'd be able to get Kazmir, but I would hope we get more than Lincecum. Maybe Lincecum and Cain for Fielder and one of young outfielders like Cain or Gillespie?? I just hate to trade Fielder for one player, especially a pitcher, with the way our pitchers have been dropping like flies this season.
  18. I think we have to sign him. With the money we'd free up from Cameron and Gagne we can hopefully pay up. A 1-2 of him and Gallardo is just what we need....with Suppan Parra and maybe Villanueva or another FA signing at #5. We have got to do better than Mcclung and Bush next season. That being said, if we can get a young starter and an above average pitching prospect, we might have to go for it.
  19. I think it would be great if Gamel can stick at third. I think ulitmately LaPorta will replace Fielder at first, so a combo of Gamel and LaPorta at first and third would be awesome. That frees the outfield for Braun, Hart and either Cain or Brantly in centerfield. I am not sure Gillespie will ever be a starter in Milwaukee. He could be a solid backup or good trade bait, but he'd have to be traded soon before his value dips too low ala Brad Nelson. An outfield roster of Braun, Hart, Cain, Brantly and Gillespie would be amazing, but I'm just afraid its a waste of talent. Is there any chance Brantly can be moved to, say, second base? I think Weeks will have to be replaced because he just doesnt seem to be getting any better, and his bat in the one or two hole, with his just amazing strikeout rate, would be something we really could use.
  20. So I was finally able to get all my songs, at least the ones i downloaded from itunes, back onto itunes my new computer after i downloaded an update. Now it wont let me burn the cds. Its says "The attempt to burn a disc failed. A unknown error occured (2131)" Any ideas on what that means or how to fix it?
  21. What country is Taylor Green from?
  22. Then you look at someone like Spreewell and say.....%@$? Spreewall probably wasnt top 50 in his day, but he was raking it in. How could you possible lose that much, that fast without being an absolute moron?
  23. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to buy a house for $27 million and still have a couple million left over.....from that years earnings. You keep hearing how much money they make, but it doesnt really sink in until you read stuff like this. Unbelievable.
  24. I dont think theres any point of trading him now. He may not be the best pitcher, but at least he is consistent and goes out there every five days.
  25. Dameon Mason...thats exactly who I was thinking of of. I believe he was runner up to Mr. Basketball in Illinois, which is no small feat. I believe his biggest problem was that he was supposed to be the next Wade.
