  1. WWE pay-per-views are a waste of money. I think its ridiculous that a pay per view match would end in a disqualification, but you can bet that at least one per event ends that way. I used to watch them back in the days when they only had 4 per year. Those were much better, because they had months to build up rivalries, and they didnt have the same match 3 pay per views in a row. Plus, you can bet they'll be at least 2 rematches the next night on RAW
  2. Does anyone know the name of that song from the Extra Gum commercial where they are all in a subway car dancing all crazy? The song sounds Irish, if that helps.
  3. I think the problem is a lot more deeply rooted than just violence. Number One, I don't know what Denver's School system is like, but Milwaukee's is horrible. I was out driving around today in some not so good area, and literally half the people I saw were of school age. MPS needs to crack down on truants by holding their parent's or guardian's responsible. Every time their kid has an unexcused absence after say, three warnings, the parent's should be ticketed. The only way we can get the kids to go to school is to have their parents pay if they don't. We also need to eliminate that ridiculous rule requiring MPS teachers to live in the city. They would attract better teachers if they weren't required to live in this tax hell....which leads right up to my next point. Taxes in the city and region are so high that they are driving businesses away, taking jobs with them. Obviously without jobs the quality of life goes down. We also need to reform the welfare system. In my opinion, nobody who isn't working or SERIOUSLY trying to find a job should be getting a free monthly check from the state. Its a waste of money and promotes laziness. Obviously it does some good, but we need to eliminate the people who use it for bad purposes. Finally, we need to start getting serious with sentences for violent crimes. In my opinion, there is no excuse for giving someone parole for killing someone. Armed robberies, burglaries, auto thefts.....all the penalties need to be increased. Chances are better than not that the person who killed the Miller exec has been in jail before, and my guess is he has ties to a street gang.
  4. Mitch Stetter isn't coming in from a different organization is he? Personally I think Gagne is going to have the biggest impact. Hopefully it's a good impact though, because if he fails at closer, I don't know whats going to happen.
  5. I support not charging 15 and 16 years old as adults. Not to get off topic, but I do. I've seen what 15 and 16 years olds can do. We already treat them easy enough. If a 16 year old commits an armed robbery and for some reason only gets charged as a minor, he'll be out of "prison" in less than 2 years. I don't know...to me people who commit these crimes are already lost souls, and most can't be saved because most don't want to be. Back to the video game tax...its just another example of what the state does because it can. I am guilty of never calling my state senator or assemblymen, but I do try to vote for the person who is going to keep the most amount of money in my pocket.
  6. I always thought it was a mistake for the Brewers not to make an attempt to trade for Bay. He had a down year last season, but his career numbers are still really good, and he's still relatively young. He would have solved the problem in left field and could have hit #2. I bet with Braun and Fielder behind him his OBP would be higher than .321 Milwaukee could have offered one of our many outfield prospects like Gillespie or Cain and maybe thrown in a guy like Gamel isn't going to be at 3rd base for much longer.
  7. why don't we just tax the air that we breathe? I mean, everybody needs it so everyone will have to pay tax on it. Then this state can spend even more money on useless crap that we either don't need or that doesn't work. Seriously, this whole tax incentive that just got got 2 movies to film in Milwaukee.....why can't the politicians look at that as an example as to why to LOWER taxes, instead of raising them. Granted it's a different type of tax, but still. This state is going to lose the world headquarters to Miller Brewing because the tax climate is Colorado is so much better. The cigarette tax going way up means people aren't buying as many cigarettes in the state. I seriously hate this state.
  8. the thing about a mens match is that the 5 set format is way too much. I would never ever watch an entire 5 set match, but i did watch the majority of the Ivanovic match last night until i had to go to work. The announcers mentioned that she was single...anyone know how I can get her number???
  9. I really think Hall will step it up. I think he's going to be more comfortable at third base and he'll relax at the plate. Plus he was really heavily relied on at the beginning of last year, but this year with Braun and Fielder carrying the load, he should be able to hit a little better. I think the biggest disappointment this year is going to be Hardy. He needs to go back to doing what he was doing at the beginning of last year and not worry about Home Runs. He needs to get on base and let the middle of the order get him in.
  10. If the holiday was the issue, then that doesn't make any sense. DPW workers should be classified under the category as cops and firefighters. It is a job that has to be done in order to keep the public safe. Can you imagine calling the police and have them saying, well.....most of the officers are off today because its Martin Luther King Day, we'll get to it when we can. Cops and firefighters get "holidays off", they just aren't always on the actual holiday. The snowstorm was predicted ahead of time, just like it always is. There is no excuse for this. And let's remember one more thing. ITS MLK DAY!!!! Its not like we're talking about Christmas or thanksgiving here.
  11. North Ave and Oakland aren't tiny streets. North runs from the Lake all the way to Tosa, and Oakland goes for probably about 5 or 6 miles itself. I'm not talking about those tiny east side streets where cars cant get by, even in the summer time, these are pretty major streets that have barely been touched.
  12. I am asking this question in all seriousness....does Milwaukee even have snowplows anymore? The roads are terrible, its like most haven't even been touched. Even the freeway is bad (which I know the county is in charge of). I am not even talking about side streets... North Ave is horrible. Oakland Ave is even worse. You'd think with all the money this city is sucking out of people with the high taxes that they'd be able to at least clear the streets. And its not like we got 8 inches of snow in an hour, its just been steady. If only we had the technology to predict a snowstorm a few days in advance.....wait......i think we do!
  13. I don't agree with a lot of the trades posted, but instead of sitting back and saying...."thats a dumb idea and will never happen", post a similar trade you think may happen (that quote wasn't directed at anyone specific, just as general quote of people who speak down on other people's ideas but never come up with any of their own)
  14. I agree, that is depressing, kind of pathetic actually, if the Packers were to get a higher rating. For all the moaning and complaining about the Brewers and the stadium tax and the payroll, if they finally make the World Series and you're watching week 8 of the NFL instead, I have to doubt you're Brewer loyalty.
  15. Track his phone location, get on a plane, take the phone from his hand, and throw it in the nearest body of water. All the while giving him an intense stare down. Thats such a funny suggestion that I might actually go do it.....seriously http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif
  16. I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but MU landed a 2009 commitment this afternoon. A guy named Erik Williams out of Cypress Creek Texas. As a sophomore he averaged 11.9 points and something like 8.5 rebounds and also set some record with like 102 blocked shots. He's 6'7'' but says he sees himself as a wing type player in college. Scout.com has him listed as a 3 star player. Nice to see MU with an early commitment. Did anyone attend Midnight Madness at the AL last night? Any word on Iman Shumpert and which school he's favoring or when he'll make the announcement? He's rated as high as the 15th best overall player in this years class and would be a huge get for Tom Crean and Marquette.
  17. well this is the only number that ive had since i've gotten my phone and I don't want to have to inform everyone I know that I changed my number. I also work for the city, so I would have to go to about 5 or 6 different departments within the city and change my number with them too, which would be a bit of a hassle. If this persists for the rest of the week its definately something I'd have to consider.
  18. last 2 phone calls have come with a 529 area code, which I looked up and definately isn't from the U.S. Do cell phone providers charge you some ungodly amount for received calls from other countries?
  19. I keep getting phone calls from what comes up on my cell phone as "private call". I've gotten maybe 15 or 20 of them today. The guy on the other line sometimes hangs up, and sometimes starts talking in some language which sounds like it comes from either Asia or the middle east. I called the cell phone provider and they more or less said they cant do anything but change my number. Under my calls received folder some number comes up as +25290781180, and i actually got a hold of that guy once when I called that number. Does anyone have any idea what I can do, if anything, to get this freak to stop calling or why calling a number starting with a plus sign actually connects somewhere?
  20. try room 1408 of the Dolphin hotel in New York
  21. At one point, Rogers was putting up "Yo"-type K numbers Unfortunately he was also putting up Nick Neugebauer type BB numbers, which is what concerned me the most. I don't care how hard you throw, eventually you're going to have to throw strikes.
  22. If they can both somehow come back healthy next season it would be a huge shot in the arm to our farm system. I wouldn't mind seeing both of them in the bullpen. Assuming it works out, that could be a nice 1-2 punch in the back end of the bullpen
  23. Add that to the fact that we don't really have any quality starters ready in the minors. Inman is gone, obviously, Jackson hasn't impressed much of anybody, Rogers has never been able to stay healthy, so to say we have a lot of depth is a little off, I'd say. I think if we get 4 extra picks from losing CoCo and Linebrick, at least three of them have to go towards pitching.
  24. I guess I was looking for specific names, not just a blanket "3 quality arms"
  25. .I'm trading Sheets this off season if I'm Doug Melvin. Who are you trading him for? I think making Joba Chamberlin the centerpiece of a Ben Sheets deal is foolish. Like I said before, Chamberlin AND Hughes and I'll listen
