It's like they're only willing to make the obvious move (Greinke) but nothing more. Ramirez serves no purpose on this team, as they aren't going anywhere with or without him. The contract after this season becomes a burden. There is no good reason not to trade him.
I'm not sure the D'Backs would give us Bauer and Skaggs alone for Yo and Hart much less with Upton. Those two will be under financial control for the next six years. I'd do Yo and Hart for Bauer and Skaggs and then take a vacation until the end of the season.
Well he played yesterday, so I don't think it would be a problem anymore. Seeing these reports of a "thin market" for middle-of-the-order hitters only frustrates me more that the Brewers really aren't considering trading Ramirez or Hart.
So you'd rather have kept this star player for two months only to lose him for (practically) nothing. Very happy with this. Sounds like three promising players for two months of Greinke. Very nicely done.
It would be frustrating to get Olt only to play him in right when the reports are he's very strong defensively at third. If they get Olt, I don't see any logical solution that doesn't involve trading Ramirez.
Andrus has rebuffed Texas' attempts to sign him. He has Scott Boras. If they trade for Andrus, they'll be shopping him a year or two from now anyway. Andrus is great, but they should be going for longer-term solutions.
Thinking about that... I can maybe envision Melvin trying for a Sexson-style trade and trying to grab four or five of those guys rather than just Olt or Perez. Not sure how I'd feel about that, but I suppose you're increasing the likelihood that someone you get pans out.
Yost is the worst manager I've ever seen. Not even Roenicke would IBB Howard with Shouse to face Burrell. I'm completely happy with the decision to pull Greinke yesterday. Would have been fine with it an inning earlier. These games mean nothing now. Greinke had already regained his full value. There was nothing left to gain.
Can someone more familiar with Teheran explain why he's so highly rated? His strikeout rate is pretty bad this year, and last year it wasn't very good either. His walk rate is solid, and he's young for his level, so maybe that is the reason?
Greinke looking great through six innings. Just what the Brewers needed. Great news--I imagine there will be plenty of interest, starting tonight even.
