  1. Pretty nervous about giving Greinke 6/125.
  2. That list sure makes it seem like more starters will be traded this year than normal. That probably deflates the market a bit for someone like Marcum, who is comparable to a lot of those guys.
  3. Wonder how serious this is. If it's more than a few starts, I'll probably start hoping the team loses so the front office isn't convinced to buy at the deadline.
  4. I was at the game, but from my vantage point it seemed like his fastball is a nice pitch velocity-wise, but he was struggling to throw off-speed stuff for strikes. Eventually, they just sat on his fastball and crushed it. Certainly not a discouraging outing in my opinion.
  5. Of course Ramirez wouldn't be signed, but long term that would have been a good thing most likely.
  6. My favorite part of that first inning was when Wolf threw two balls, called timeout and asked for a new ball.
  7. Fiers is nowhere near an average number three. No offense, but I don't think you'd find anyone who'd agree with that. He's never broken into the big leagues until age 26 for a reason. We don't even know if he's a viable long-term MLB starting-caliber pitcher.
  8. I feel like nobody nationally is really even talking about him. I'm sure they all wished he'd suck all of a sudden.
  9. When you come in with something like that, you probably aren't going to get a very constructive conversation.
  10. I kind of agree on Alonso. He's been a good but not great hitter throughout the minors. Never had the power you'd like from a first baseman. I don't fully understand why he was rated so high as a prospect.
  11. Cron was "my guy" in last year's draft. Getting him would be just fine with me. He was drafted out of college, so he's hopefully not too far away. Maybe a couple years.
  12. If Greinke were to re-sign, they'd still have some money to play with that they wouldn't be paying Marcum/Wolf/K-Rod. Now, some of that would go to Greinke and raises to Weeks, Hart, and other arbitration cases, but they could fill shortstop and first base. I think CF is fine with some of the guys they have in their system. Of course, I am not expecting Greinke to re-sign, so this is probably all moot.
  13. It's to the point now where I'll probably be disappointed if they don't blow it up. They have a big opportunity to set the team up for the next several years, or get themselves stuck in mediocrity.
  14. Their only realistic shot seems to be if Greinke re-signs. If they have a firesale and manage to get some MLB-ready guys, possibly.
  15. Gantner over Weeks would be hilariously bad. Ganter has a career OPS+ of 88. He was over 100 exactly one time in his career. Weeks already has four seasons better than Gantner's best.
  16. I think he should look to be a reliever as well. He might be able to get a few more years, Kerry Wood style. That would be great.
  17. He's Cody Ransom. Oh I know. Doesn't mean I can't marvel at it, though.
